Try changing to 6-60% stiffer clutch springs on the stock clutch plate first, and start to wheelie really slow like 2 to 5 MPH, that made a bigger difference for me learning to wheelie, I even tried a 13 tooth sprocket with the 6 stiffer springs and went back to the stock 15 tooth sprocket with stiffer springs and finally learned to wheelie!

Chains do stretch. I'm constantly adjusting, oiling and replacing the chain on my MSX SF.
I've fitted a 16 tooth front Drive sprocket with a 40 tooth rear Driven sprocket, both 420 pitch as is the standard chain.
Exhaust is OEM. However, with no cat..Cat is removed, straight tubing is fitted from the head to OEM back box.
Running front 30/70 rear 50/60 tyres.
3 inch extended swing arm with raised rear suspension.
No other mechanical mods, just a full body kit fitted.
A real head turner, sounding like a big bike.
Rides very smooth, high revving too with no power lose especially in 4th gear when running into a head wind or inclines.
Cheap and easy mods worth trying out.
The gear box is a crash box. No mod is needed. You can fly thru the gears. Great for fast get ups.
    Tip.
Change the engine oil a lot more than recommended and oil and adjust the chain constantly!
    Enjoy!

Get an O-ring chain...you just wipe it off after 400 to 700 miles then re-add 90 wt gear oil and wipe off all the excess that's it, no scrubbing or cleaning... they last much longer too, I haven't had to adjust mine in 6000 miles which is longer than the OEM chain lasted.
Towards the end of the OEM chain I was adjusting it every 200 to 250 miles.
I've noticed no difference in power and learned to wheelie with it...

I came up with a solution for the adjuster plates falling. It may have already existed but I didn't look it up so I'm taking credit for it. Duct tape to hold them up.

14t is way better especially if your big guy like myself. It allows for more rpm in 4th and uphill torque. If you want to cheat doing wheelies, lower the rear tire pressure (within spec of tire manufacturer). I'm staying with the 14t front and going +3 in the rear. I hope first gear isn't too short. I will see. Nice video.

I have stock gearing with an aftermarket exhaust and chimera cold air intake. I can pop second gear wheelies very easily as long as I sit back and pull on the bars. Even if I'm cruising around 5-6k rpms, I can still get it into balance point with a big enough clutch dump.

Iv got a 2022 grom 5 speed, it has 38 tooth on the rear. I didn't realise. And I put a 34 tooth on unsure of the front sprocket but I just bought a 14t I think for the front. Because It was really low gearing with the 34t on the rear but it did make my speedo correct. And I couldn't use 5th gear unless I was on the highway but would have to drop back to forth because didn't have enough power.

Some pointers if you haven't learned wheelies yet
Don't be afraid of getting the front tire higher. The rear brake will save you if you go a little bit too far
Try to not chop the throttle in the wheelie, find the point where you can hover around to keep the wheel up

    • @yesac101
      @yesac101 6 років тому

Technically you have a lower top speed but in 4th gear you usually run out of power before revs you wont lose speed you are just able to keep power from being higher in rev band. The only time you could tell is if you are going down hill at full throttle

I have 6000 miles on my D.I.D. O-ring chain and haven't had to adjust it yet, stock only lasted 4000 and was a major pain to constantly clean and adjust...
Now my O-ring chain has no difference in power and no cleaning, just wipe off every 400-700 miles and add 90 weight gear oil then wipe off all the excess.
6-60% stiffer clutch springs on the stock clutch plate made it easier to wheelie than even a 13 tooth sprocket.

Once I’m in first and try to take off it seems to still be in neutral cuz the bike still revs high and I can’t take off. Also shifting into second gear give me trouble sometimes. You don’t need another sprocket to stay in power band . At balance point..u just need to keep trying..I can do it with a stock chain & sprocket

@@DoggyNipples I was talking stock. You do as little as change your sprockets you can get 70mph out of it with out anything else. But straight from the factory your going to have to be going down a steep hill if you want to do 60

(!) Changing sprocket makes ABS non operational (!) When you exceed about 60km/h then ABS cancelled even to low speed. Only ignition on\off to reset ABS.
I use 13t front and no need for chain change of shorten. Top speed 90 km/h easy.

    • @-JohnSmith-
      @-JohnSmith- 5 років тому

I have an ABS Grom and had no problems turning off with the 14 t sprocket even at the 73 MPH Rev limiter, I then went to the 13 t and the ABS light started flashing at a much lower speed like 50-55 MPH
P.s. the ABS turns off most of the time when doing wheelies... Just have to turn it off and on like you said and then go faster that 22 MPH for the light to stop flashing.

Glad to see domes ones got some sense 😂 people always wanna change the front sprocket. But they want to go up 3 or 4 teeth. No. U just can’t. Well ya can. They’ll sell ya anything. But your put a lot of stress on that motor. Don’t run and buy a 17t. Just bc it fots on there. Doesn’t mean it’s good. Sure. Go down. Go up one. It makes a hell of a difference when u do the front. It’s just safer to fine tune it in the rear. When u jump from one tooth to the next. It’s like putting a 50t on a 30t 😂 just examples. But good choice. Just one tooth will do what u want. For every one tooth on the front is like putting 20 more teeth on the rear. My neighbor does this shit every time. Well it fits. Sure it does. Is it right no. U wanna go fast. Buy a bigger bike. Don’t buy a 125 or 250 and think your gonna go 100mph 😂 good job 👏

You shoulda mastered wheelies before u spent money on tring to get better at wheelies. You should be able to do work on a stock grom

    • @ALLDAYANTHONY
      @ALLDAYANTHONY  6 років тому +3

It's not that I couldn't wheelie on the stock setup, it was more about the effort and wear and tear on the Grom from trying to do it with effort. Revs had to be higher and I physically had to yank the bars up. The new setup is effortless and has resulted in much less wear for the 10 dollar sprocket

The stock Grom especially with pipe CANT wheelie with some people. I'm 250 PDs and can wheelie for miles on anything except the Grom. It just has to little bottom end with a pipe to get the front end up.
