Thank you very much Steve for the kind words & the support. :)
Steve, you got a little brown on your nose
@@columbiariverpussycat3769 Come on now, the guy is always so nice and in a good ,mood, and what a fine beard that is. So why would you hate on him? No wait doin`t tell me, I know, you can`t gtow a beard like that and so the envy is eating you from inside when you see him.
@@MrSocko-bh1jb I'm talking to Steve? Unless your talking about Steve too?
@@columbiariverpussycat3769 Very nice honey, but the thing is, Steve is way to nice to call you out for being rude and dic*kish to a grownup for no reason, just like you are now, so I sorted you out there, your welcome! Now go back to your crayons and let the grown up people do the talking.
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful
Thank you James :)
Sweet find! That p-90 in the neck provides just the right amount of bite! Great licks as always, Damien and thanks for sharing that beautiful classic piece with us! BTW...Sylvian Sylvain would be proud!

Thank you Jim. Much appreciated. :)
Hey Damian great guitar ! Love your channel. I’m not sure what I love best, the lessons or your awesome t-shirts !!
Keep them both coming Thank You
Thank you very much :)
Great player deserves a great guitar. Thanks for turning us on to all the greats, I’ve really been enjoying listening to Charlie Christian at work lately.
Thank you very much. :)
Nice to see a special guitar going to someone who appreciates it. Great to see your daughter following in your footsteps. Best of luck.
Thank you Joseph :)
Stellar playing Damian
Thank you Bill :)
I just picked up this exact guitar a couple of days ago from my brothers father in law its also a 57 and is beautiful and hardly played and has great action and tone. I snagged it for $1000 cash. I couldn't get over there fast enough. It also has the original hard shell case. The more I play and look at it the more I'm in love with it.
Wow. That's awesome. Enjoy the guitar :)
Love what you do! I had one of those, same year. It was missing all electronics and hardware. I restored it properly; had it for some time and later sold it.
Thanks for watching. Glad you restored the guitar. Sorry to hear you don't own it any longer, but it's good to know it's out there somewhere restored and hopefully being enjoyed. :)
A Maze Ingggggg!!!!!!! Wow! You never cease to amaze. Thanks for the vids! Keep em going!
Thank you Mark :)
That was a masterclass in swinging guitar Damian. Time for me to get to work transcribing! Beautiful looking and sounding guitar. Spiffing work ol' chap!👍👊
Thank you Guy. Much appreciated my friend. Cheers :)
Just watching your right hand, was a wake up call for me. It does need to be solid and that shows me what I need to work on. Thanks enjoyed those great licks.
Thank you for watching Martyn :)
Hi Damian, A great sweet vintage sound. This guitar sounds awesome.
Greetings,
David
Thank you David :)
Great guitar! Love the licks and your positivity.

Thank you Arran :)
Heavenly tone, swingin too, nice!
Thank you Richard. :)
Very interesting video! That guitar sounds really good! Enjoy!
Thank you Antonio :)
Mine was a 57 as well. Pickguard was in the case but in rough shape. Your DVD's are 2nd to none. Excellent stuff.
Thank you very much my friend for the shout out. I really appreciate it. :)
Nice playing, as always.
Thank you :)
Great guitar SMOKING guitar playing, Cheers, Damian!!
Thank you :)
love love and love
Thank you Tavo :)
Even if I didn't play guitar I would still visit this channel just to hear the inspiring words at the end.
Thank you very much for those kind words. :)
Beautiful guitar guitar Damian, I am sure will enjoy playing it. The New York Dolls t-shirt brings good memories as well!
Thank you John :)
You Tubin’. must be doing you real good! Talkin’ ready cash and a fabulous rockabilly following.
Great playing!
Thank you very much :)
Bravo! I was getting into it so much I started to play rhythm over your leads.. LOL you the man
Awesome. Thanks for watching Jay :)
Pure class boss, it's beautiful that you are leaving your guitars to your daughter. After a lifetime of my father saying that I would inherit his gear he sold it all before he died and the stepwitch took all the proceeds, I don't mind it so much as the Epiphones and Squires are nice enough. It would have been nice to have my dad's gear but it wasn't the end of the world.
A beautiful guitar and a great story, keep rocking boss. 😎🎙🎸✅
Thank you Julian. Keep on rockin' my friend. :)
Dude… KILLER axe! Soooo happy to see such a fine vintage instrument in the hands of such a fine player! I can’t stand it when an instrument like that winds up in the hands of some collector who can’t play or appreciate it. Congratulations, D!
Thank you very much John :)
@@Damianblf you are such a kind fellow to take the time to reply to so many comments. Thank you, D.
That was likely still a pretty expensive used guitar in the mid sixties. I'm glad it went to someone who can appreciate the history and character of that instrument
Yes, defintely. Thanks for watching David. :)
Nice playing man !
Thank you Brian :)
Sweet tones my friend. My Guitar teacher has a similar model from the 60s which is more single cutaway Les Paul shape but still archtop with a p90. I used to play it during lessons over a decade ago. Now it's zoom lessons and he still plays it when we jam.
Thank you Dan :)
Great guitar, great you!
Thank you :)
Love your channel! Aloha from Brazil
Thank you very much. :)
Love the backstory and the guitar. I took my first guitar lessons at that Ray Mullin Music in RI back in the 90s before it closed. (There’s still a Ray Mullin in MA). Thanks Damian!
Oh wow, that's pretty cool. Thanks for sharing Tom.
Keep on rockin' brother! :)
Those licks were cool man!
Thank you :)
Nice! I've got the same guitar! I had to rebuild the bridge. I'll post it on FB. Keep the great videos coming!!!
Thank you Jack :)
We seek the Holy Grail.
He says he's already got one.
Way back almost forty years ago I picked one up as the cheapest Gibson I could find.
Although immediately charmed by it's cool tones and vintage aroma it felt funky to show up with my hard rocking buddies, fed back and didn't have a metal edge.
So it move to the back of the closet for decades.
Now older and mellower I have aged just like an old guitar. Time to give it another try.
Plus I was looking for an acoustic electric for my son.
Thanks for reminding me.
Awesome Jeff. Show that old guitar some love. Keep on rockin' brother :)
I used to have a 1950 ES-150 and dear god those '50s P-90s are the most amazing pickups I've ever heard.
Yes, definitely. Thanks for watching Michael. :)
It's a beautiful guitar!
And sounds amazing!
Regards
Thank you Antonio :)
Hey Damian love the 125 gibson sounds great I have a 1954 125 all original still have the ga 20 amp that was bought with it plays and sounds good just thought I would share that with you you do a great job thanks
Thanks for sharing Mitchell. Keep on rockin' my friend. :)
I remember you doing weird covers of the smiths like 11 years ago or summat. Batman tattoo?
So cool you are still making videos, love your playing
Yes, it's been about 12 & 13 years ago & you're correct about the tattoo.
Thanks for watching Alan. :)
That dog ear sounds so tasty. Congrats on the new guitar. Can’t wait to see you and your daughter play a duet.
Thank you Carla :)
That is a COOL guitar - and it sounds fantastic! What a find! And thanks for giving us a run down on the Gibson “family tree” of the ES-125 - the tie to George Thorogood is pretty neat. I saw him live less than a month ago - fantastic show. If you have any tips on playing slide…. As always, THANK YOU!
Thank you Gregory. I haven't played anything slide guitar related in many years lol. That's awesome you recently saw George Thorogood. I love his music. :)
So lyrical!! Makes me believe I can do this!
Thank you for watching :)
Incroyable son!! J'adore le rockabilly et tu joues merveilleusement bien!!!
Merci beaucoup :)
Great playing , i can hear some charlie’christian gran slam and cliff gallup here
Thank you :)
Your NY Dolls T-shirt looks kinda like my Aerosmith "Get Your Wings" album cover Tee!😊
Thank you for watching :)
Great Video.. Way cooler than the Grote a piece of history.
Thanks for watching Gary :)
I hear Charlie Christian, Barney Kessel, Les Paul, Eldon Shamblin, Junior Bernard, Gatemouth Brown, maybe Lonnie Johnson, and Duke Robilard to name a few. What was the name of the guy who played guitar for Louis Jordan? I love the "Saturday Night Fish Fry". You really nail not only the style, but the tone as well. Very cool!
🤝😎 great Video :) I’m a proud owner of a beautiful 1961 ES12TC 💪 love it! A very inspiring guitar 🎸
Thanks for watching :)
Bought my first guitar at ray Mullins in, pawtucket ri,aka "the bucket"sadly both Mullins and my first guitar are long gone. Although I think Mullins still has a store in Swansea, Massachusetts. 👍
Oh cool, thank you for sharing and thank you for watching. :)
I miss mine, it's what I learned on and gigged with during the '60s until I fell on some ice and broke neck and body on. My ES-125 was probably '59 or '60 model, the story sounds like mine, parents bought me that model as a Christmas gift in '60 from the same music store that I had started taking lessons from that fall. Wish I still had it even though I now have many many archtops and solid bodies and semi-hollow's, and acoustics, and ... LOL.
Thanks for leaving a comment Larry. :)
Here's mine. Modified/butchered with additional DiMarzio pick up. Can't seem tp post a pic. sorry. I've had this guitar for a long time. It has no numbers or other id except the Gibson logo. Upon further investigation the neck pick up is original patent pending humbucker. The bridge pick up was added at some later point and is a Dimarzio PAF. I recently joined a group dedicated to Gibson Guitars. Come to find out it's a 1957 ES 125 . It's the only electric I kept and I had some great electrics.
Wow. Thank you for sharing. :)
Damian, love your tasteful playing and your clear instruction! Do you use a wound 3rd string on your ES-125 and what gauge strings are they?
Killer stuff, Damien! I also have a gorgeous ‘57 and the owner I bought it from, who’s also a super hardcore NAMM guy, historian, and player, assured me with the exception of the upgraded tuners it’s 100% original ‘57. It was recently pointed out to me that my fat, clear-top speed knobs are not originals, that they should be gold bell-shaped like I see yours are. I’m 99.9% sure my speed knobs are original, much like the same knob type on earlier ‘50s models. Do you have any insight on what Gibson was doing, knob-wise, at that time? My guy assures me they’re original and he’s never steered me wrong.
Dear Damien i really enjoy the way you playing in the demonstration of that old gibson. Is it possible for you to make that lesson on you tube. I have already baught your two cd but i would like to learn and play that solo démonstration. Thank you for what you will able to do. Kind regards Philippe Oltra
Thank you Philippe for watching and for all the support. I really appreciate it. I'll probably do a lesson in the near future featuring some of these licks. Cheers :)
@@Damianblf Thanks a lot Damian and go on, you are making a great job. i used to play rockn' roll rockabilly and your lessons are very helpfull for me.
Such clean and smooth playing....impressive!
Thank you :)
Damian, can't you just get a Pick guard? Legend has it that the Gibson will not sound fully if not complete. You need to assemble all pieces to UNLOCK THE ULTIMATE ES 125 sound.
lol you're making me laugh over here brother! Cheers :)
Good to see you back…..sounds great !
What Amp ? What effects ?……please
Thanks for watching Richard. I was using my JR BARNYARD pedal plugged into my Fender Hot Rod DeVille 212.
@@Damianblf - thanks for the reply 👌🏻
Very beautiful guitar and great playing. Does the lack of cutaway bother you for swing and straight ahead jazz? Some jazzers say that it bothers them, but I find that unless I'm playing blues or fusion, 99% of what I play is below the 13th fret with occasional 15+ fret lines and chord extensions. What's your take on that? Cheers
Thank you. Not having the cutaway doesn't bother me.
If i could pick up one style it would be this uptown jazz / jump blues style ....i would give anything to play as fluently as you
I hope you'll find some of my free lessons on this style helpful. Thank you for watching & for the kind words. :)
Awesome guitar Damian! A 50s p90 is one of the coolest tones ever. Damian I'm trying to decide on a workhorse guitar for rockabilly before i get my dream White Falcon, ive narowed it to the korean mades, Gretsch 5420 electromatic with blacktop pickups or a guild x175 with the p90s, i believe you own both, how does the guild neck compare ? Appreciate any feedback
My Guild x175 is one of my favorite guitars. That guitar has a U shape kneck. I love the way the guitar sounds, plays and looks. It's one of my go to guitars for playing Jump Blues. I don't own a 5420 but it's a great guitar. I'd certainly be happy owning one. Cheers :)
Congratulations on the new guitar! It's a beauty. Do you use flat wounds around wounds on that comment and what gauge?
Thank you Jeff. Currently the guitar is strung with flatwound Thomastik-Infeld 12-50 gauge.
do you also have instruction in rhythm guitar in this style ?
Hi Richard. Thanks for watching. My newest lesson on my channel I think you'll enjoy and look up my Rhythm Style of T-Bone Walker. :)
Something about this guitar. Maybe cause it's an accoustic, but it has a p90. Would be great for some dirty blues.
My dad bought me a used ES125 in 1959 ( its a "55). I was 7 years old and that was my first guitar. 2021 I am 69 and I still have my ES125. All original except for the tuners. The buttons started cracking and breaking off so I replaced them with the same type. It's my $100 guitar. Thats what pops paid for it. It will be passed along to my daughter as well.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing David :)
Thats Swingin!
Thank you :)
Did I mess up by buying the rockabilly DVD first? Should I have bought this one instead? Don't know, gonna be fun finding out though.
Thank you for watching & for the support. My "Good Rockin' Guitar" course pairs very well with my "Ultiamte Rockabilly Guitar" course. I like to mix both styles together. :)
Fantastikkkkk Ok grazie
Thank you Lorenzo :)
Excellent episode, as usual, though this one was even more special because I too have an ES-125. I bought it used in about 1975. It served me well in college jazz bands, especially for Freddie Green-style playing. The neck finish is all checked and someone did kind of bad job of replacing the plastic tuners with metal Grovers, leaving the raw outlines and drill holes from the earlier set (I hope that person didn’t become a surgeon). Mine also is missing its pickguard.
Would you know anything about a Gibson model that I think was called the ES-350? I had to sell mine in a fit of poverty and wish I hadn’t (like most guitarists, I wish I still had every guitar I ever owned). My ES-350, if that’s what it was called, was shaped like an ES-335 but had a fat body. It was a kind of brown color. I’ve never seen another one. I’d love to get another one. Any ideas on the model’s background and how to find another one?
Many thanks!
P.S. I’m to get your swing course. Great playing!
I mean Jump Blues course.
Thank you very much Tim. I believe the ES-350 was produced in 47 and discontinued in 56. I'd love to own a ES-350T (Thinline) just like the early Check Berry used to before he swiched over to the ES-335. But I'd be very happy with a Gibson Byrdland also. :)
I think if you looked on Reverb you may be able to find one. That's where I bought my ES-125.
The great Lennie Breau played an ES-125 for much of his tragically short career and got great sounds out of it. Other than the cutaway, there's not a heck of a lot of difference between an ES-125 and an early ES-175 and nobody would criticize a jazz player for playing a 175. 125's were never really popular because they didn't have a cutaway....now they are $2K+ guitars.
I'm glad I was able to get one now, because the prices keep going up and up. Thanks for watching. :)
I have a 63. Mine has lots of checking.
Thanks for watching. :)
Muito linda! Like!

I dont mean to be impolite but I am that guy: how much did ya pay for it?
Where's the hell are the dates and serial numbers on these????!!!!! Can you only tell by the pickup!!!!! Uhhgggg . Nobody on UA-cam says anything about identifying dates!!!
On Reverb there is a article that you may find helpful on how to find the date of your guitar. Look up "How to date a Gibson using serial numbers, FONs & logos".
He might look pround to own his 1957 gibson pity he can't play it lol.
