I dont commnent very often, but for this I will. What beautifully and eloquently executed argument this was. Yeandle came to the stage with his witty child like charisma, and delivered a speech that is hugely applicable to our lives today. Redefining True love into what it means for our modern day context was probably the best approach for side opposition, and he did this very well.
True love is about recognition that nobody is perfect, (no one is perfect for someone else or perfect for themselves) It's about the idea that there's somebody, definately somebody exist on the earth, will make us a better person, will improve us and make us happier. True love is about the idea that this can be reciprocated that both parties can be benefiting while perceiving one of the greatest emotional feelings known to mankind.
This is what grounds the debate on side opposition, they argue for a way that we can rethink our traditional idea of true love into what it means for today, and my word, he did this well.
love debaters and like this man lol, he did not attack too many points but he insisted his position on the existential and humanistic meaning of love throughout the debate, good job
i get it charisma can be natural to some but given time and exposure you can get better i assure you its all about the mindset and growth and thats from a nerd who could barely speak to girls and now gives speeches boldly
@@abdullahibrahim2606 Excuse me, but why do people always link or measure strong charisma and confidence with the ability to talk to girls, you can be a brilliant public speaker or debater or whatever you want to be without talking with girls it's just a matter of having a good self esteem, not over confident nor underestimating your self
Then it’s not love if it is like drugs because love is not that at all. A lot of humankind don’t know what words to use and find themselves confused in their emotions and attractions. If you have true love within, look in the mirror and then ask again is this like drugs. If ever feeling bad, hatred lies within. True love the hearts at ease, you have peace of mind and soul is at rest.
I think he is correct we should believe in true love, it's human nature to love one another but we should not restrict our true love only to a person we should have true love for everything , even a rock fallen on the ground we should have true love for that , even the leaves , trees ,animals and grass we should have true love for all of them.
He implored us to discard the traditional idea of true love and adopt a modern approach, but then quoted Aristotle and Nietsche, with the latter's view on madness and love. Didn't Friedriche pass away in a state of delusion due to syphylis? Admirable sense of humour , though.
A remarkable young man! I am, more often than not, rather impressed by the young, fresh minds that are clearly thriving in Oxford, while the guests ... Ann Coulter? Steve Bannon? Not so much. I see, that they are relevant in the political discourse, but do they have something important to say and can they do so in a way that is deserving of the attention of this institution? 😏 Well ... I‘d rather listen to this young man and his fellow debaters some more.

"A core tennet of the imperfect perfection of being human" great speaker

Love is like drugs. It can make you feel very good but also really bad. That's the thing about addicting shit
