I have one of the later Mark Hoppus basses, absolutely killer for punk playing and bass in general.

My first bass was the early surf green precision bass. I still have it and it’s pretty versatile

Great job Paul! Mark is one of the most influential and inventive bass players, he is also a great guy, I hope he will be back soon to health.

Loved the video! I like the fact that you also included the old school songs like Ben wah balls. He’s got pretty solid basslines in the early years of Blink-182. Songs like Don’t and 21 days have great basslines

You’re an amazing bassist Paul. I like your videos of you playing bass to KISS songs. Mark Hoppus and Gene Simmons are two bassists with sounds and riffs I really like. I really hope that Hoppus beats cancer and wish that Simmons would get an attitude adjustment. Keep up the good work and great videos man!!!

Absolutely great video 🤟 Thanx for your content 😎 and if I could ask - what about soundgarden’s Ben Shepherd? He is one the most underrated bassist in grunge music, but also inovative and soooo cool in general... I would love a new video about him 😏

    great video, as always! :)
although blink (and punk in general) may have simple chord progression, mark's bass lines sure are solid, and attends the band's need
i just hope to see mark, travis (and maybe tom) live someday. blink is nostalgic for me but i never got the chance, they never performed here in brasil, kinda sucks :/
but right now i trully hope that mark can beat cancer and continue his career and most important, his life.

A lot of early blink was played with a Stingray, not sure if he ever used his Mako P bass copy on any recordings, but worth to note that he used one.

I'm way familiar with Mark Hoppus style since high school. Right now, I'm currently in Paul McCartney since I got a viola bass. Since I got a rick bass, I can go back to Hoppus style but the tone may sounds like Bruce Foxton.

I've always felt that when Mark wasn't singing he would do more of the notey stuff and Tom would be singing and just laying down whatever chords were needed

    • @Hey-Its-Dingo

They have both straight up said this was the case in a few interviews. (At least in their first few releases they did this. And it's also why Tom/Matt sings the final bridge part of "Feeling This" when they play live, because Mark tried to get more notey on a song he was singing. lol)
