Love these analyses where we can see the entire field and what all the players are doing. I learn so much from them.
More master volume. I always have to turn your videos up compared to any other audio I'm listening to.
Keep the offence and defence analysis of these kinds of plays coming ... they are great learning tools!
The microphone is good and clear. I did turn the volume up but that's not a big deal on my part. Good call especially on the pitcher call he should have been somewhere other than in the infield.

the defensive setup made no sense. of course the way the right fielder jogged after the ball he probably just didnt feel like moving for the defensive setup. 2nd base shouldnt have thrown the ball and made up for it by a terrible throw. by the time the pitcher decided he should back someone up it was way to late to back up anyone but the 2nd baseman.

But also the left fielder makes himself useless. He can back up the throw to third also. I spent many years playing the outfield, and the later half of my baseball life in left field. I would have been heading to back up 3rd rather than siteseeing in the middle of the outfield.
Exactly. Left field backs up 3rd, pitcher moves to back up home, 1st base begins to trail and only moves as plate cut if a clear triple. There is always someplace to be and it is rarely where you started, catcher excluded.
Anybody else seen this: my kid’s last ever Little League game ended very appropriately. He scored a walk off, solo, dropped third strike home run. I lost track of the errors. And, these were 13 and 14 year olds. The dug out cleared. A water cooler’s worth of ice water got dumped on his head. It was epic. Poor catcher, though. The errors began and ended with him.
Came close on a pop up between catcher and pitcher and they ran into each other. Pitcher over threw first and was running around 3rd when I saw the throw from right fielder was going to be over the catchers head. That was fun. 11 years old.
He really Antonelli’d that throw
Musician/producer here. Your audio is clipping slightly. Turn down the gain when recording so it isn't going into the red, or even the yellow, then turn up the volume of the recorded sound. But make sure it isn't maxing out the fader when you bounce the master. You can add a limiter if you want to be sure to keep it from clipping, but that won't help if the gain was too high in the first place.
Also try speaking close to the mic but not directly into to avoid getting the plosives too loud. Close to the mic is always better for dialogue as long as the wind from your mouth isn't going into the mic.

The route by Margot (center fielder) was also horrendous. Went back first, then came back in to catch it. Need to be more decisive. He should have kept his angle and cut the ball off, keeping it in front of him for a Yastremski double. If Byron wasn’t hurt he would have caught the ball standing up lol.

Unfortunately this happens in mlb a fair bit, you'd think these pros should know better
Yup, if pitcher runs or even jogs to back up third he probably gets that overthrow and runner stays at third
Exactly, that's baseball 101. The 1st baseman is the cut-off to home for hits to center or right field when there's no possible play at 1st.
I must be so basics!! I love the detail including the shoutouts on D. the pitcher is still on (or very near) the mound as the runner steams over 2nd! So the pitcher maybe? concedes 3rd, and is NOT there bc he "feels" the runner has 3rd or will be safe or there will be no play at 3rd. his failure to act quickly compounded and led to the score...
Thanks man. I didn't even notice the pitcher pulling his pud, not backing up, until you pointed it out. Yikes. And yea, if he backed up, it's probably gonna be safe at third next batter up, still a chance to win the game.

To me I would say it's the cutters error..... soon as he cut the ball he should've took a moment and look at the runner action...... I would always play ahead of the runner..... not behind him...... guys should already know the play they are play is behind already..... the runner is gonna get a triple no doubt. The cutter should throw the ball to home plate or give it to the pitcher........
The mic itself sounds fine, but please put an audio compressor in the signal chain to boost/compress the volume. I don't know what video editing software you're using, but almost all of the come with free compressors. If it has presets (as it almost surely does), try selecting something like Lead Male Vocalist, which should boost the apparent volume significantly without bringing up background noise.

I think your voice sounds fine! Mike, take a look at the umpire's rotation on this. I am not positive, and maybe there isn't supposed to be a "rotation" with no one on base, but it seems like the 3rd base umpire is caught between 2nd and 3rd, and it would have been better for the plate umpire to rotate up to 3rd, and the 1st base ump rotate to home. But, not sure.
Before the first game of one of my son's little league season, there was a huge blowup between a manager and an opposing coach about whether local rules allowed a runner to continue more than one base on an overthrow. Sure enough, the first pitch of that game was a bunt was fielded and the ball thrown down the right field line for a "home run."
Yea typically is if the ball is hit deep in the outfield it is always three bases ahead of the lead runner. So whoever the Giants were playing did everything correctly and normally the third baseman is yelling either cut the ball off or is yelling to throw to third. But you are also taught for the cut off man to line up on his glove side but somebody should have been yelling to cut the ball and run it in and call time. But as a pitcher you are taught to back up third or home just in case of a wild throw and not be a spectator or cover a base. As fans you don't see stuff like this on tv but there is always some type of communication going on during the ballgame.

@Matt Antonelli what do starting pitchers do between starts? Do they just sit around and do nothing those 4 days, do they lift weights between starts?
Yaz is mostly a pull hitter, and that’s how most teams setup against him.
If Buxton in center, he catches it, if right fielder sprints may not have rushed throw by 2b, still probably a triple but that's the outfield dimensions
Pitcher's should immediately sprint to the Audi symbol and then decide which base to backup (3rd or home - no close play at home so backup 3rd). Left fielder also sprints to backup possible throw to 3rd (why just stand there and scratch your balls). Finally, 1st baseman should run to just under the pitcher's mound for the cut-off to home (this part is baseball 101 - 1st base ALWAYS is cut-off to home for center or right field hits with a possible play to home - especially with the game winning run on 3rd). The 2nd baseman who got the first cut-off should have just ran the ball in OR turned and realized there's no close play at 3rd and threw it to the next cutoff just under the pitcher's mound (the 1st baseman).

The pitcher just read the play better than the second baseman (low bar). Based on where the ball and the runner were, the logical assumption would be that any throw would be coming home.
Also, might’ve helped if SS held up his hands rather than rely on verbal communication.
So if the pitcher backs up the throw it probably stays in play and runner stays at third, but realistically that throw shouldn't be made at all

When you make a good throw, everything falls in place. Make a bad throw and the play naturally falls apart. But, that's baseball. As Yogi Berra once said, “We made too many wrong mistakes.”
When the second baseman turns and looks at third to make the throw, he should see the the runner is already practically standing there and just flip the ball to the shortstop.
You don't have time to look before you throw, hence why he mentions the communication and yelling that needs to happen
This isn’t a “Little League” home run. There was only 1 error. A Little League home run requires at least 3 errors!
My son did that a couple days after he turned nine. Hit a 22 foot “home run”. Little nubber halfway to the mound, throw goes past the 1b who throws it into left field, LF makes a bad throw to third. Sim was actually standing on third when the throw went past him so he took off.

It seems like we're seeing more plays in the MLB where the pitcher hasn't been coached up on his defensive responsibilities.
