I’ve owned several Keens, such a good cutter w/ great geometry. It’s a lot of knife for less money than a base model PM2. It’s just as good a value today as it was 2 years ago.
Love my Keen. Just checks about every box you want a knife to. Its almost the perfect flipper for its size. Also love my MBK Laconico’s as well. Clean, simple, great designs.
Love Ray's designs, simple but work great and very well built. Super comfortable in hand also. Thanks for the look see and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
When this came out the most expensive knife I had ever bought was a 154cm mini griptilian. I debated in my head about the purchase but eventually pulled the trigger and got a purple Keen with the holes. I own way more knives now but the quality of the Keen is still very impressive, it's a great design and super smooth.
LOVE my massdrop Keen and it is drop shutty, but I've had mine for a couple(?) years now. Give yours time and lots of fidgets and it'll get better on the drop shut thing (a dose of OCD-4-EDC's Slick 'Em All Salve would help things along)
Thanks Jerad. I ordered one. I also have and like a few other Ray L. designs. Be careful when ordering because Amazon automatically switches to LH if they are out of your color in RH.
My Keen is still in pieces. I took it apart to do some refinishing and anodizing and I just haven't finished it. Other knives came in for work, and I just haven't had time to work on it.
I was recently thinking the same thing about this knife. Really enjoyed your conversation w Rai on the most recent Everyday City Carry podcast too. Thanks for putting in the work
Hard not to like Ray Laconico designs, they just seem to be made for the hand. Not overbuilt swords, not under built small knives, basically in the Goldilocks “just right” zone. 👍🏻
Drop makes unbelievable knives. I have 2 of them, and I'll never get rid of them. Both are FF design (the Dao and Gent), total winners. And I have my eye on another FF design Drop, but I need to save up a few ducats because it's $170. It's definitely worth it, but that's towards the top of my knife spending dollar amount. I have a couple knives in the $220 range but that's absolute tops.
totally agree. extremely underrated knife w/ the great geometry. I even think the s35vn is done pretty good based on my novice hand sharpening feedback.
The FF Buc and the Keen are still high on my want list. Drop has some amazing designs. Wish they came out with some more. Damn now that I Know the Keen is the size of the Elementum, that’s one of my favorite knives.
I sold mine off but it is a good all around knife for the price. I didn't really like the clip. It was too thin and would bend pretty easy. I was always afraid I'd break it. The only milled titanium clip I ever worried out.
That's one knife I seriously regret not adding to my collection. I really should get one, especially considering I'm a big Laconico fan. I can't get one from your Amazon link though. Damn Amazon won't ship it to my location, so I'll have to have a friend order it then send it to me. Amazon sucks that way. They seem to think that the entire state of NY has to abide by NYC knife laws, which is absolutely not the case. I think BHQ is selling them now too though. It's old news now brother. As new knives drop, the older ones get pushed aside and forgotten about. That's why you no longer hear people singing it's praises.
I agree with you all the time, Jared...this time I wholeheartedly, completely agree bout this PERFECT-in-every-way piece of EDC GOLD! I've been in loooove with this knife since our eyes first met😍 This Laconico & a Spydie Shaman are my grails...I can't put one above the other, but when I'm able, I can't seem to find them ANYWHERE🤕 One day they'll both grace my pockets🙏🙏😭🙏🙏🙏😭🙏🙏
couldn't tell, but I'm guessing it has no secondary edge even with the spear point. detent reminds me of the kizer critical mini. definitely gonna check it out.
@@NeevesKnives seems like the new community really embraced these more expensive Chinese blades. Must be a good quality to price ratio. Just can't seem to pull the trigger. Furthest I've strayed is a Taiwanese SpydieChef.
Easy q to answer! Everybody raved about it so it went out of stock everywhere, and if it came in it was sold out in a sec . So people tired of a knife that you couldnt buy. In the u.s it might be easier .I really like Rays designs and one day it will pop up on secondary market ..if im lucky i will be fast enough to pick it up.
I understand it can create a logistical nightmare but I wish more manufacturers would offer left and right handed clips as opposed to reversible. Looks so much cleaner without the screw holes on the show side
I think your answer lies in the fact that the knife world has gone the way of all our short attention span pleasures. There are so many new designs and material choices all the time. That it's hard to keep attention on any one thing for any amount of time.
all the massdrop branded knives have fallen off, blade hq has some "Massdrop" creations with specific knife makers, this is a laconnico design i believe
I'm thinking about getting a new knife. It's been a while but I'm thinking about getting a Spyderco Drunken or an Olamic Wayfarer. I almost ordered a Hinderer the other day from DLT but I hesitated. They look awesome but I'm not sure. I also noticed the Drop x Ferrum Forge Buc and that looks pretty cool. I have a pm2, para 3 and Spydiechef now.
@@NeevesKnives Thanks, I hadn't seen that one before. I've been into knives for a long time, but mostly stuck to Spyderco. The Spyderco Kapara looks pretty cool too; it's really similar to the PM2 that I have now. I know that I love their compression lock. I had a Spyderco Military a few years ago, and I didn't like how the blade wasn't centered when it was closed. One thing I really like about those Drop knives is the case and cleaning cloth that are included. I've been sticking my Spydiechef in the pouch that came with my cannabis grinder lol that's my shirt pocket knife. I really shouldn't even spend more money since I just bought a competition pistol a couple months ago, but I haven't bought a knife in almost a year. I'm also considering the Zero Tolerance 0308 and 0562. I think it might be a good idea to try one of those Hinderer ZT's before splurging on a real Hinderer, but I'm sure that Hinderer's are worth the high price. I also like that they are made here in Ohio. Decisions, decisions...
I don't think so, I love it! I'm willing to pay a little bit more for something I love, and it's premium materials from a company that does them well. And I love its profile such a useful one
Just got this today. Feels great in hand. Blade is nice and slicey. After a clean and lube it runs super smooth. Awesome recommendation! Thank you for that 👊 Edit: wish it had jimping on the flipper tab.
Great knife I agree, would be magnificent if it had a hollow grind. Why don’t we talk about it? Drop has stopped being a knife place and is now a yupee site. Can you still get these? Some of them had weak detent., the one I had had a dangerous weak detent drop would not fix it or replace it, I since bought two from the forum. This is a great knife that has come and gone, blame drop. Laconico has put out a number of derivatives. Welcome to 2018 Jerrod.🤣💥💥 I see you found them on amazon good find, good review

Great knife...love mine too!
Woww design awesome

I got one for my sister, blurple with the speed holes. Great knife.
Your a good Brotha
I think it's because the vosteed is much more affordable being close (not in)materials (lol) mostly design similarities..
The big problem is the lack of options left for righty. Never thought that would be a problem

It's a nice one for sure. Lots of competition now. It would be better with internal milling and a jimped flipper.
I love the weight and tab, not that it would hurt though
If you had to choose one:
Keen or Kizer Gemini?
Where are they made?
China

I think drop itself well dropped the ball, they moved from edc to consumer electronics MBK should buy the rights back and support it.

@@NeevesKnives slightly, not by a long stretch, but too far is too far whether an inch or a mile.
perhaps because they are only sold inside the US ? US market is not the navel of the world ;)

Because drop dosnt make knives anymore
