Played this in my local arcade when i was a bit younger,got hooked and kept playin,my mate cleared it 1 day and he was the king of the arcade,untill i cleared it twice in 1 day then i became king,what a game,gonna get it and start playin again.
@rodra81 I like the technic you use by bouncing of the bats head to bring you to the end of the stages,and to all the non believers out there this game takes skill! One hit your dead. The NES version is a piece of cake compared to the Arcade.
@hanibhai There's an emulator called MAME which can allow you to play almost any arcade game, rygar included. roms are not hard to find ..... @rodra81 rygar is one the easyest arcade games, it only required positionnal/action memory and almost no reflexes since monster movements are all algorithmic and never random.
Should try getting 6000+ points in Round 1 and you're off to a good start!! It's not about running through in this game it's about standing and fighting and then waiting til time's up to maximise your score. (although this movie is probably more for effect or it would be an hour long!!) How do you capture your own game as a movie like this??

I remember getting all those items in the boxes...how if you got hit one time you died, so when you had all minus the last one you had to stay alive to get that invulnerability....and if you died you LOST all the power ups. I LOVED that game as a kid. I thought it was the BEST.
Great stuff! The bit from 6:50 to 7:01 (round 7)is delightful finesse playing... my fav in the video. Great skills buddy! PS: a suggestion on the video itself: try to watch for audio saturation in order to avoid distortion while capping
#1 game of my youth, the cabinet owner increased the difficulty because we would sit on it for hours for a few coins, which only made it better and easier to score on! We went for score! saving your lives to use ALL up (except 1) at the end of level 17? (the orange pillar guys just keep coming - 10k at a time) then finishing the rest of your game on your last man. I can't recall exactly (a quarter of a century is a long time!) but I think my highest score was a tad under 5 mill.
This game always reminded me of Ghost 'N Goblins, but instead of zombies coming out of the ground you actual get to see the worms crawl around underground and come up. The stone half circle things are a bit like the baskets in 'GNG' . While GNG was a pain to beat this one was pretty cool, and they made it into a Metroid like NES game :)
Finished Ghost'n'Goblins as well, although not quite as obsessed, I do recall a special 'tapping' motion moving your character forward as you were firing your spears speed up damage inflicted significantly.
I own this Cabinet and it is a cool game to play. I've played it so much that I also switched the PCB board to the most difficult level. It can take 1-2 hours to get to level 27 if you use all time in each level gaining points. Past level 20 you cannot continue....found that out the hard way when I got there.
what is your highscore? Mine is 4532260, right now ! (no joke, you know about the hidden tree of stars in level 13 where you get 1 million points) still you have to do everything right to get that. My challange is to reach the 5 million.
Yeah, if you don't have the tiger head, you can do that. The problem doing that on the last levels of the game is that the flying beasts go at diferents level and you can get caught on the middle of the air
Just finishing the game is difficult on 1 credit, but not something you can't learn to do over putting a lot of time in. But, trying to finish the game while getting as many points as possible is a whole other ball park.

Did you use Mame Emulator? Also how did you recorded the video? There's a little bit of a audio delay in your video.
