I'm an Instacart shopper in California and Prop 22 was the gig companies' compromise to making gig workers employees. Under Prop 22 we are guaranteed minimum wage (excluding tips) which is paid to us by the gig companies in the form of an earnings adjustment each week. Opponents of Prop 22 say it's unconstitutional and that gig workers should be classified as employees and entitled to the same benefits and protections as an employee.
If the Supreme Court overturns prop 22 it would suck majorly for those of us who don't want /need employee protections and do gig work only for the money. It will also suck because Doordash, Instacart and the others aren't going to just make everyone employees and start paying out benefits and a liveable wage. If prop 22 is overturned, a lot of gig workers are probably going to lose the only way they can make money as the gig companies will be forced to cut back on workers to accommodate the added expense of having employees.

You did the right thing by calling it a day early. Sure, you could have stayed out longer to get that Spark incentive. But, there is more to life than these gig jobs. Keep these gig jobs as stepping stones and focus on building your own business. You don't get rich building someone else's business. Also, focus on your fitness too because keeping yourself in shape keeps your mind sharp too.

If you have a Home Depot near where you live you may want to try clocking in at 5:55am. Those runs have the highest base pay and no lag on tips.

Still not sure about prop 22 on a national scale. It has helped me avoid more of the garbage orders here in CA over the last couple years I'm pretty sure.

Paul, I like your vids and look forward to every one.. Cell Phones should never be charged over 84%-88% because charging them fully shortens the battery life. On Android phones, there is a setting that keeps it from charging over 84%.
You must be aware of some car info; the driving you are doing is called SEVERE, which means lots of short runs. This wears your oil down faster and you need to change sooner,,,,,,,,I would not go more than 4000 miles on a change. Dont listen to Toyota when they say 10k miles,,,,that was an engineering goof which caused many of their engines to burn oil by the quart.
It would not hurt if you passed by an area of interest such as a special park and speak about if for a few minutes as your vides are also travel videos; I get to see Florida when Im stuck just South of Detroit.
    Thanks again.

You do not have to turn off low power mode for uber app just hit turn off button in the app every time that pops up and then return to app without turning it off you will still receive orders just have been doing that for several months now

I am originally from Louisiana. California fast food is exactly the same cost. You are talking about that LA life. There is much more to California than that. Actually, my brother is in the restaurant industry in Louisiana, the food (grocery) there is more expensive to purchase. Housing market is what is expensive. Prop 22 helps dashers if they don't make a certain amount, Door Dash the company has to cover the difference. So, it is a guaranteed that they will make a living wage. If a person is very conservative this is not the State that should gravitated to. There is a lot of money to be made in California. Northern California is where all the money really is. It flies under the radar. California has the most liberal state Supreme Court in the country. I don't think in an election year they will repeal Prop 22. Prop 22 will not only effect dasher. I love your content. You are very funny. I love that someone your age has such a hard hustle. When I come to Florida to visit my friend, I want to try a Chicky Wicky. You should put that on a t-shirt. You would do really well in Northern California. You read a lot. Research Northern California. There is one thing that I want you to be mindful of. I know this is your channel. You never know why the reason why someone has to do a particular job or is homeless. Don't block the greatness that is coming to you by talking down about someone else. I am not preaching. I am a nurse. PS. My mother-in-law lives in Vegas in the summer it was so hot I saw the devil take off his red suit and jump into the pool. I am not a gambler. There is a slot machine every step you take. That place is expensive. No one ever complains about that. I think because it is shiny and glitzy all the time.

I live in Cali and Prop 22 really helps.me out! I am still a little pre-50 baby on both Uber Eats and DD, so I am hoping the amount of offers I get will increase after 100 orders. I am on an ebike and happily take the low ball orders (within reason - $5-6 min up to ~3 miles max) .
For me, it is the amount of orders I receive, rather than the cost per mile . Right now, I am taking 99% of all my orders. If the volume of orders for me increases, then I can actually make a living , but as of right now, Prop 22 is key for me!

Getting rid of prop 22 would be good for gig workers. AB5 was good for gig workers. Prop 22 effed it up. AB5 didn't "turn gig workers into employees" AB5 put strong pressure on gig-companies. If they want to classify their workers as "independent contractors" they have to truly be "independent" contractors. For a short while in california while AB5 was in effect, rideshare drivers (uber specifically) had the ability to adjust their own pay rate up or down (the famous "multiplier" which was great for drivers). IANAL, but my understanding is that if prop 22 is struck down, independent contractor rules in california will essentially return to AB5.

@@rockypatacchi AB5 was good for gig-app drivers. Prop 22 screwed gig-app drivers. Unwinding prop 22 reverts things back to AB5. Gig-app drivers are far better off under AB5 than prop 22.
Let me guess, you're a food delivery driver who thinks slow walking someone's mcnuggets for prop 22 minimum wage is comfy-cozy? AmIRight?

We are catching up to California here in Florida in regards to cost of living.
A big Mac meal in Cali is like 18 and it's what? 15 here? A studio apartment in Cali is like 1900 and it's like 1400 minimum here.
We are going to catch up but we will have zero protections like prop 22.
