Awesome tips! I did track in high school and competed in triathlons most of my life and I was always nervous before my races! And I agree visualization was the best thing for me. We would do the course the day before the event to visualize each step! 🙏🏼 great advise!
Visualization is such a powerful focusing technique! It took my mental preparation to another level. Always good to hear the same from another runner as well 👍🏾
Me too! I get so nervous that I shake and I have this feeling in my stomach that does not feel good when I get nervous! I’m joining track again whenever I am a sophomore and I’m joining marching band. And so my anxiety is going to drive me crazy!
I am listening for my grandson. I will send this to him. He is a Junior and has found out he is pretty good in track. Tomorrow is his first meet ever. This is a big help.!!
Look up “flow state” here on UA-cam learning about “the zone” should help you balance your nerves and reach peak performance. And it’s natural to have those jitters so don’t be worried over it at all.
Loved the tip about mentally walking through your event, this is something I feel I struggle with is either overthinking at the time of the race or losing focus of my technique when the time comes. Definitely gonna try this one!
@@emmaforester1313omg good luck!!! ive had like 5 meets since that and the first one was definitely the like scariest and most nerve racking but once your abt to start your event its not as scary and awkward feeling than like hours or even minutes before!!! you’ll do great just dont over think it!
Happy to help 🙌🏾 Just focus on the baton around for the 4x1 and running smart for the 4x4. Run the 4x4 like you would a 400m. Push hard the first 100m. Float on the backstretch and conserve energy but don’t slow down. Pick up foot speed at 200m to go. Slingshot off the curve with 120 to go and give the last 100m everything you have. Maintain your form abs stay relaxed. Best of luck 🔥
My main tip is to remember that for sprints, being nervous can actually be a good thing. For many, including myself, nerves, anxiety and crowd factor will get your adrenaline pumping harder and and make you perform better. I always hit faster times when I know I'm being watched or when I'm racing against other fast guys. Embrace the nerves, they're your friend.
Qualified for state as fresh man in the 100 on my first meet back from injury, way to nervous, only ran two meets so far in my high school career the first one I got the injury, went from nothing, to winning districts, to going to state. It’s all going to fast and I’m super nervous.
Just take I one day at a time and listen to your body. You know your body better than anyone else ever will. Make sure to to the proper recovery exercises and you’ll the back 100% healthy soon.
thank you for this message really needed it first track meet is tomorrow and I’m ready just still nervous and these tips should work especially walking in your lane thank you again
I have a track meet in 3 days and I need to be calm, I really want to get a better performance than before. Last year, I was slacking at first, but improved within that season, but didn't get qualified for states
biggest meet in ny beside the state meet on friday and im buggin out. ive been on big stages i went to nationals and state but for some reason im mad nervous
My 1st ever meet in on Thursday I’m doing 100m 400m 4x4 relay I’ve never been this nervous in my life I feel like I’m out of my mind it feel like my life ain’t mine who can relate?
@@MJPTV ah tysm! i ran today and got 4th which means im going to regionals, i didnt run the best time but im still happy, im excited to do the 800 tomorrow :D
Push out at the start, maintain and accelerate hard off the curve, then maintain quick hand and your running form all the way to the finish line. Just remember it’s fine to be nervous and find what works for you to be able to focus.
So are you asking about the structure of a regional meet? If so they aren’t too different from a regular meet with only the top 2 finishers in every event making the state meet. Then who ever has the next fastest time outside of the automatic 8 qualifiers gets to go to state since the university of Texas track has 9 lanes. Regional meets are essentially the semifinals of the state meet since the state meet only has finals and no prelims. Hopefully this helps 😂
Remember to stay relaxed as you run and have fun. And even if things don’t go the way you want use it as a learning experience. Make sure you record your race so you can break it down after. Best of luck 👍🏾
@@MJPTV Do you have any tips for the 1600? I lost my XC season cause of injury but been strengthening and now doing track and I really just want to lay it all out on the table!!

For the 1600 don't go out to fast find out what your goal mile time is and get the splits for each lap 1st lap relax try to hit your split 2nd pick it up just a bit you will feel like you are going the same speed but your probably going slower 3rd pick it up even more this is the toughest lap and the last lap try to give it your all excpecially on that last 100m
Your fear is what’s holding you back from experiencing growth. You’ll only move forward by going through this race. I doesn’t matter if win or fall on your face. You’ll be better tomorrow just by having experienced this.
