I believe I once heard that Chester announced that Doyle would've been the Only one he'd be willing to pay money for to watch! Don't know how true that'd be after all
There's a video where Duane Eddy talks about what it was like to play onstage alongside one of his boyhood heroes. All of the musicians were so stoked, you can hear it their playing - they were all on top of their games, so to speak.
Duane (big D)Eddy and Chet (Mr.Guitar)Atkins Holy Crap awesomeness that we won't (sadly) ever see again. Hollowgrafs are great but you can't feel'em touch'em or taste'm. Long live Rock and Roll J.Deuce RnR
They sound so great together. Duane Eddy with that big deep single note twang style and Chet and Doyle with their finger-style plus John Schneider on banjo. They compliment each other.
Was für eine Show So gut so schön zu hören. Was für eine Freude. Duane Eddy und chet atkins . Die Grand ole Opry .Ich bin fassungslos Was für eine Freude. Liebe Grüße aus Berlin von Reimund.
All of their tones are so distinct. Duane has the Biggest Twang of them All and Chet is just an unbeatable guitar player, both playing those beautiful Gretsch guitars
chet roomed with tommy covington near knoxville, tennessee before maybelle took him to nashville. tommy was with red foley in kentucky prior to coming to knoxville tommy was a friend of mine and taught chet he did not need to be a fiddle player. both greats played daily on wnox mid day merry go around in late 1940's. enjoyed from the philippines on dec 8, 2020
The 'twang is the thang' is the backbone of Duane Eddy playing. But it's nothing he's doing except using his bass strings for the melody, the right tone settings on his guitar, the occasional use of the Bigsby tremolo, and using a little reverb in the amp. It's actually pretty basic stuff, but effective. I love the playing he does on the music score from the movie "Broken Arrow," using a baritone guitar.
Bring back the good music like this, dump the new crap👍😎😎
I recognize that Chet is the best who ever was and I love him, but nobody else has that Duane Eddy twang!
Oh for the good old music, not the stuff they play today😎😎
Heroes all..... Rip Chet & Duane... Doyle still honors them on his Sunday String A Long....
Doyle Dykes is still making amazing music!
I believe I once heard that Chester announced that Doyle would've been the Only one he'd be willing to pay money for to watch! Don't know how true that'd be after all

Chet and Doyle with the fancy fingerstyyle and Duane Eddy on the big open chord sound of his. Perfect combo.
What's not to love about these guys? Good lookin' and talented to boot! I still think like a DJ.
My two great idols together...great🙏🎸

Hey Doyle Dykes… You’re not supposed to show up Chet. . LOL Man that was good Doyle, seriously !!
Thats really efing good. You kept the sweetness and romance of the original.
This is as good as it gets.None left to carry on when they are gone. Thanks for posting, please keep it up.I enjoyed it.
Chet supposedly said Doyle Dykes was one he would pay to hear.
You notice how he was smiling when Doyle was playing. Doyle is so good I can see Chet saying that.

I'd love to hear the rest of song as played by the band - too bad we get cut off at the end of the credits.
A year before I was born. I would've loved to have seen this in person
The dueling Gretches!
