In August 2023, my husband and I drove from the GTA to Winnipeg. We took 3 days. First night we stopped in Sault Ste Marie and the second day we drove to Thunderbay. That part of the drive was spectacular. Lots of waterfalls and other places to stop. We stayed in Thunderbay overnight. On our drive to Winnipeg, we stopped at Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park. It’s just outside Thunderbay and has the second highest waterfall in Ontario . Niagara Falls being the largest. I highly recommend this trip. We want to do it again when we can take more time. Ontario has so much to offer.
I recommend combining Rochester, Syracuse and Green lakes state park

Thanks for great feedback! Thunderbay for me can only be possible with a flight (don't have many vacation days to drive there) so hopefully someday

There are bike rentals those are cheaper. But best to get your car there just need to book far far in advance
