Only three people producing such a beautiful sound. I got the album on 1984 and still think that this is the best Steve's song. A masterpiece.

The album version of this was one of those free flexi discs you got with Guitar Player magazine in the the mid 80s. I remember spending hours in my bedroom trying to learn this. I only copped a few bits and bobs as it was way above my ability, but hey if your gonna copy, do it from the best! A fabulous piece of music, hopefully the tide will turn soon and good musicianmanship will be appreciated and pursued by both fans and players!

This guy was formally trained and has practiced honing his technique. Yet, check the concentration for the outro starting at 2:35 . That's a true musician right there, folks. His total respect for the art form is why Steve will always have my respect.

For what it's worth.. saw Steve on Sept 1st, 1984 at the Tralf in Buffalo. He featured this work. LaRue wasn't on bass though. Had a front row table with my Marine Corps home town buddy,. Butch. Made a tape and took pics. This show really lifted my spirits because the day before some MOTHER EFER had broken into my car at noon on front of a church.

I've been working on learning the bassline to this song for a few days now, and I've finally got it under my fingers. To me a long time just to wrap my head around the main riff.

@aihoschema His old guitar was a Telecaster body with a Stratocaster neck, and a ton of different modifications. The guitar he's playing here is his model by Music Man.

@TheThim51 Jimmy Herring did as well, check out Morse's On The Pipe and then check out Herring's deadon version on youtube that he covered in a college baand wehn he ws like 23. Morse might still be my dead on favorite of the eighties guitar heroes, which would have included Vai , SAtriani, Johnson.

@94saabguy yeah, I remember. Wasn't this a Music Man body with a Telecaster neck? What is he playing here? His own model by Ibanez? Looks like it...... sorry I play the keys, don't know that much about guitars.

No one could match Shawn's chops and joy at playing, true. But Morse is the greatest composer and plays with equal joy. No one can match the utter beauty of his compositions. And yes, Shawn had a couple of insanely brilliant albums, too (compositionally).

This is the best version of this song I've heard. The slight increase in BPM fits perfectly. Whenever I hear the original now it feels a bit dull. Nevertheless, one of the greatest instrumental guitar compositions ever. Steve was and is awesome.
