I always like the idea that one of the thoughts buzzing around in his head before Mutiny is *"My brother tried to kill me!"* I have seen so many Animatics where Eurylochus is one of the Men Odysseus sets up as a Sacrifice to Scylla. Which would track i guess.
@asdrubalvect6328 i believe jorge has said somewhere that the plan was to have eury killed, but he was saved(?)! even that confirmation alone is enough to make mutiny feel like so much more, i really love this series haha, and I've never thought about what eury could've really been thinking during that moment, for him to be calling back to this moment in his head.. it's an amazing idea!!
i always really like seeing odysseus wrestle with himself in scylla animatics and in this one, he actually looks really scared when the heads of scylla reveal themselves and begin to inch closer, knowing what must be done to avoid the TOTAL loss and bloodshed of his crew, also wonderful work on the scylla design, frightening but fascinating!! anytime someone in the epic fandom remembers the dog heads, i get happy :)
This is the first time I've seen someone illustrate sylla as something other than serpantine. I really like the idea of wolf dragon things. That's so cool!
The descriptions of Scylla are pretty varied. Some talk about her having six heads on long necks that can reach down from her lair to snatch prey, others talk about her waist being adorn with the heads of baying hounds (sometimes interpreted as the hound heads replacing her legs). This is a particularly good blend of just about all the various versions into one monstrous form.
CHARYBDIS CAMEO!!! And ody timing the "row for your lives" around her mouth closing is so OUGHHHH i'm going feral. Scylla has such good doggies i love them :3
I love the idea that Odysseus is quiet in response to Eurylochus’ confession because he knows that he did out out of survival, and he is about to do the same.
In my personal opinion, Eurylochus did not do it for survival. He did it out of greed and mistrust, which is very different. Ody told everyone not to open the wing bag to avoid the storm, the "bag full of treasure" thing was a lie, and a tempting one at that. He spent a long time at war as well, maybe Eury thought it wasn't fair that Ody be the only one to get treasure in some part of his mind, which could have influenced his choice. And in his doubt, he opened the bag. Instead of trusting his brother in law and captain, he let the words of wind creatures sway him. That is not survival.
@@maple_chuuu That or he wanted to give some of the "Treasure" in the bag to his wife when they arrived back home. It's canon that they were within spitting distance of the Island when Eurylochus opened the bag like a big dumb-dumb after all.
I LOVE the buildup to Scylla in this, the skulls at the entrance from the shadows of the dog heads hiding in the rocks to the full reveal was so well done!
I love this song, Scyllas voice sounds so soft at the beginning like a friend comforting you, almost like she knows what he's about to do and she's coaxing him into accepting it. Then when the torches are light and she gets what she wants she still keeps that comforting tone as she rips them apart.
Oh this rocks so hard!!! LOVE that we don't get to see Odysseus' reaction to Eurylechus' confession, it adds so much tension to the whole thing! And the dog heads blending into the shadows, until the full reveal? It's damn incredible!!!!
i love this scylla design holy cow!! also the bit with scylla singing behind eurylochus and then bringing her hands together on "we both know what it takes to survive"? impeccable. absolutely horrifying.
This has to be one of the top versions of Scylla I’m down for!! This one being very accurate to Greek Mythology, & with the actual struggles it is to deal with this beast while maintaining a ship, as well as Odysseus actually being terrified knowing what has to be done. Gigi’s version of Scylla being horrifying eels as heads instead of the dogs her disguise as a woman before revealing her true self. It’s also interesting with different perspectives from the crew & her. With hers (theirs if I’m wrong) it’s clear to see the struggles of Odysseus & Eurylochus after he tells the truth about him opening the wind bag. Last but not least with the canon version from the livestream, beautiful yet horrifying as well with more gore-some moments but this animatic makes it even more terrifying when it comes to gore.
Holy the words I cannot begin to describe how amazing this is. Scylla looks so monstrous I love the addition though of the heads looking like dogs. You don't see much of those in the animatics
Lol I loved how i just watched all this blood and carnage men. Men were literally EATEn by these monsters and then you just see the dog heads like puppies at 2:42
God that shot of Eurylochus seeming in the grasp of Scylla at 1:00 is so good. Like those words put him on the chopping block in a sense in Ody's mind.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SCYLLA EVER. She looks so monstrous, and she has DOG HEADS!!! The teeth, the eyes narrowing at the sight of her prey, the brutality, the rockiness of the waves, it’s all so perfect
Finally someone did the myth accurate take of the heads being wolves! I love the sea monster designs and all but the original concept was just sitting there untouched. Great take on it! Beautifully terrifying design and animation
I really like the detail that almost at the end the dog heads kinda leave an opening for the ship to get out. It's like saying "You payed your price, we require no more you may go"
Cool idea on making the heads wolf-like. Not only does it tie in with the continuous wolf comparison in the musical, it also looks rad as balls. Long necked fish and lizards? Been there done that. Long necked wolves? Terrifying
I loved the foreshadowing you did with Eurylochus when Scylla clapped her hands. It gives great weight to how much Odysseus regrets what will happen next. Great animatic! 💕
Finally someone added Charybdis on one side and Scylla on the other❤❤❤. Absolutely spot on. I love how Odysseus' beard looks like her fangs as he sings with her at the end. Brillant job.❤❤❤
1:07 Ooh, I love how you turned that into Ody envisioning Eurylochus's death. It pairs well with the lyrics, how Scylla is singing his thoughts. 1:22 Was that Odysseus steering the ship TOWARDS Scylla?? He took hold of the rudder...2:18 Ohh, actually, he's trying to save them....(or is he?) 1:29 Whirlpool...Charybdis reference? 1:58 NEVERMIND, that was of Scylla's mythologically-accurate wolf mouths! 2:30 Ouch...I like that this establishes the crew return Eurylochus's loyalty, so their mutiny to save him makes even more sense. 2:42 The heads are just good dogs?? Aw... 2:26 Love that one of the ropes came untied. Lovely detail.
I heard of a headcanon where Odysseus WAS planning on saving the crew but after Eurylochus admits he opened the bag Odysseus lost any care and let them take the torches
I think your animatic is the only one that actually shows Scylla freeing up the way out of her lair once she has feasted. Which I was missing so much in other interpretations! This is an exchange, the trade has been made, the cost paid, and it makes such a huge impact to see Scylla finalize things with such a clear gesture.
what i love about this song is how in the beginning we're led to believe that scylla singing about "breaking bonds" and "hiding secrets" is in reference to eurylochus opening the wind bag, but as the song goes on we realize she's talking about odysseus hiding the fact that he's about to sacrifice 6 men
YES YES THE DOG HEADS!! most people give her eels or like angler fish like heads (which I have no issue with, creative liberty!) but in the actual myth her six heads are dog heads!! I love this, thank you!!!
Man I fucking love seeing everyone’s different interpretations of Scylla. This is the only one I’ve seen where Scylla has her dogs instead of serpents.
Watching other animatics I keep having internal baby tantrums of "no, that's not accurate". Not only is this accurate, but probably my favorite depiction of Scylla ever. Lots of people struggle with the 'lady with a torso of six dogs' as a baseline, let alone make it terrifying. Amazing work.
All of the animatic is outstanding but my favourite moment is 2:19 to 2:33, scylla’s twirl and mouth opening, the dog faces ripping the body apart, the change of POV to the dogs mouth, the way he gets pushed out of the way UGH I love this
It's awesome that you've actually made her heads dog like as they're supposed to be, every version I've seen of schools makes them snakes but this is much more horrifying. It's also always struck me as strange that Odysseus never tries to fight scylla, it's made me think she must be one of the strongest monster in Greek myth, no hero ever slays her.
Imagine being so terrifyingly strong, that even God of Sea is afraid of you. I still think Poseidon would have won but it would take him many days to put Scylla down and even then barely.
Yes! Myth accurate Scylla with the wolf heads!! The design for her main body is amazing too, the way you animated all her teeth when she’s singing! And the movement of the ship, SO GOOD!!!
I’m obsessed with the section at 0:55 - 1:09 . I’ve never seen someone overlap Scylla and Eurylochus’ parts visually like that, and to have it reflect Odysseus’ realization of what he has to do and that he really WILL do all that it takes to survive is magical. It’s so well portrayed in just a few shots and I’m OBSESSED with it.
I mean this seriously, once you've got more practice and are more experienced than even now, you will be a legend within the Epic community. Perhaps even further than just Epic as well.
Lore Accurate Scylla! Watching them hunting and murdering the sailors like a pack of wolves and the adrenaline of trying to sail through that is amazing! I actually felt my heart racing as the men are trying their hardest to row out of the cave while their men are getting killed.
Finally someone depicts a myth-accurate Scylla! I get why more people go the more 'sea serpent' or eel route with the six heads; dogs aren't necessarily considered scary. But the way you portrayed them here is amazing and every bit as gruesome, if not more!
Oh my god the thumbnail alone has me entranced! This is so beautiful and detailed, I love your design of Scylla! And the part where Eurlyochus apologizes and we barely see Odyesseus’ expression is so chilling…
I love this one so much!! & that’s Daying something because this song probably has the most predictable yet unuiqe animatics. I like how at the end Scylla looks through the small crack in the cave as it kinda awnsers a question I’ve had: why can’t Scylla just leave her rock island? She used to be a nymph so she can swim. Atleast this one awnsers with “ itty bitty entrance & exit causes a cave enclosure type thing”. I love also how at this moment ( 2:21 ) she dances with joy, showcasing she is a full grown monster & she enjoys going for the kill. She’s hunting in her terrain & enjoying every bit of it
I think, in one depiction at least, she had twelve legs that were stuck to the rock somehow, and that's why she couldn't leave. Her heads and the forefront of her body were long as hell and could slither around to snatch sailors, but she couldn't actually escape the boundaries of her lair. Another explanation I heard was that Scylla being there was intentional on her part, and was just out of sadism.
Amazing character design. I can absolutely see Poseidon being wary of tangling with this lady. Also, kudos for referencing the original material and using doggies.
THE FIRST ONE I'VE SEEN USE CHARYBDIS IN ONE OF THEIR ANIMATICS FOR THIS SONG!!! EXCELLENT!!! Also LOVE the use of water to shove them FAST through what really *should* be a massive cave (otherwise how would it help them get home??? Wouldn't Poseidon just wait outside on the other side if it was a short trip through her cave??) Love it~ And love the idea of her helping to nudge Ody's decision about the men. As if he was on the fence and she gave him the last push.
THE FACT THEY START SCYLLA OFF AS STRAIGHT DEMONIC I CAN'T To be honest, if you're a seaman, especially in Ancient Greece, you'll expect to see some type of eel-like sea creature. I 100% guarantee NONE OF THEM expected snarling, demonic wolf-serpent hybrids. Someone needs to refine this Scylla and post it as its own thing, I honestly like this one better than Gigi's (Though hers is absolutely spectacular in its own right!)
Love the inclusion of what i assume is Charybdis and Odysseus having one final consideration of whether or not he will risk it or give up the morals he tried to keep before "Monster" Making this feel more like the final nail in the coffin for Odysseus' Ruthlessness to be fully realized
I'm speechless of how amazing this animatic is, like - SCYLLA'S DESIGN? YOU MADE HER CHILLING BUT IN SUCH AN ARTISTIC WAY THAT I CAN'T PUT INTO WORDS! The stains of blood in the ship right after they get to leave, the whole "Scylla lunch time" sequence with her heads as wolves... YOU NAILED IT!
I reallu like how you went about doing the dog heads without compromising any of the sea-monster menace factor! Also props for showing off Charybdis as well!
This is so well done and absolutely terrifying. All amazing details from the starvation of the crew, Odysseus snapping after Eurylochus confesses and Scylla capturing the image of Eurylochus, the struggle to row the boat, a crew member saving Eurylochus rather than Eurylochus passing the torch to them, the blood dripping from the ship after the escape. This is all so incredible. Great work!
this is such a good set up for when he picks the crew to die instead of himself with Zeus. He's shown that he's willing to kill others to save himself, he has this rationale that it's only six lives instead of the whole crew, but there's definitely a reason as to why he didn't pick up a torch himself and instead told eurylochus to do it. it makes sense as to why when given the option, he choses himself over everyone else. it's selfish and horrible but also just *chefs kiss*
Aaaaand I have officially found the Scylla winner for my list of favorite Epic animatics! 🥳 That was incredible. And terrifying. I love the attention to detail. The representation of the myth. The pack of wolves being devoured by wolves. All of it. Top to bottom. Fantastic
I think this is my favorite Sylla design. And that considering she's like a siren with a beautiful voice like an angel but a terrifying appearance of a demon. And have her pets wolves hounds instead of being like a sea serpent.
First of all I love the dog/wolf heads!! And your artstyle and all the details are amazing this is definitely one of my favorite animatics Now for story commentary bc I noticed after re watching a lot of different animatics is that Odysseus doesn't respond to Eurylochus' confession and apology literally at all and instead there's a long silence before he gives him specifically the command to light up the torches. I know that's probably because he's the second in command, but Ody is doing that knowing that whoever is holding one of them is getting sacrificed to Scylla. Therefore it's fairly likely that Eurylochus will be one of them.
I love how gaunt everyone looks in your animatics. Even Eurylochus, who’s usually depicted as huge, is thin and sunken-cheeked. They’ve been on the sea for two years, and by this point they’re slowly starving! That design decision helps a lot with supporting their decisions in Mutiny.
THAT makes it so much better, because then when the Vengance Saga comes out, it throws the hint that Poseidon freed Charybdis from her prison much more than in the actual story of EPIC
I specially like how this version shows the extra struggle of having to row while around there are monster heads shaking the ship and eating your comrades

I have seen so many Animatics where Eurylochus is one of the Men Odysseus sets up as a Sacrifice to Scylla.
It's what she is in the myth. She has dog heads coming from her waist/thighs.
Scylla has such good doggies i love them :3
Yes! Dog heads! Shark teeth! Are there 12 legs? And at 1:29 we get Charybdis. I love a canon accurate portrayal.
@@asdrubalvect6328 Very true!! I love theorizing about character motivations like this. For all we know, we could both be right :D!
Pretty cool to see a mythologically accurate scylla
Nice work mate🩵✨️
I LOVE the buildup to Scylla in this, the skulls at the entrance from the shadows of the dog heads hiding in the rocks to the full reveal was so well done!
I like how at least one of canine heads look up at Scylla at the end like "did we do good? :D"
2:43 the dog head: "Was I a good boy? Was I? Was I???"
2:26 you can’t tell me these two weren’t best friends
Its so sad.
Men were literally EATEn by these monsters and then you just see the dog heads like puppies at 2:42
Did you just open this song with a shot of Polites' discarded headband finally getting caught and no longer able to follow them!?
... nice touch...
It's like saying "You payed your price, we require no more you may go"
I love how they all look thin and half starved. Really shows how the years have worn them all down
Cool idea on making the heads wolf-like. Not only does it tie in with the continuous wolf comparison in the musical, it also looks rad as balls. Long necked fish and lizards? Been there done that. Long necked wolves? Terrifying
it’s also semi-mythologically accurate
I loved the foreshadowing you did with Eurylochus when Scylla clapped her hands. It gives great weight to how much Odysseus regrets what will happen next. Great animatic! 💕
SCYLLA SPINNING LIKE SHE IS ENJOYING THE BLOODSHED AT 2:19 IS SUCH A COOL SHOT
Finally someone added Charybdis on one side and Scylla on the other❤❤❤. Absolutely spot on. I love how Odysseus' beard looks like her fangs as he sings with her at the end.
Brillant job.❤❤❤
1:07 Ooh, I love how you turned that into Ody envisioning Eurylochus's death. It pairs well with the lyrics, how Scylla is singing his thoughts.
1:22 Was that Odysseus steering the ship TOWARDS Scylla?? He took hold of the rudder...2:18 Ohh, actually, he's trying to save them....(or is he?)
1:29 Whirlpool...Charybdis reference? 1:58 NEVERMIND, that was of Scylla's mythologically-accurate wolf mouths!
2:30 Ouch...I like that this establishes the crew return Eurylochus's loyalty, so their mutiny to save him makes even more sense.
2:42 The heads are just good dogs?? Aw...
2:26 Love that one of the ropes came untied. Lovely detail.
WRONG, charybdis cameo real
Technically he does steer closer to Scylla because he CANNOT get close to Charybdis or they all die.
This is an exchange, the trade has been made, the cost paid, and it makes such a huge impact to see Scylla finalize things with such a clear gesture.
what i love about this song is how in the beginning we're led to believe that scylla singing about "breaking bonds" and "hiding secrets" is in reference to eurylochus opening the wind bag, but as the song goes on we realize she's talking about odysseus hiding the fact that he's about to sacrifice 6 men
Finally, a canon design of Scylla, I love it. This is the best version I've seen so far.
I think I've found my new favorite Scylla animatic.
I love how everyone who designs scylla either goes for runway model or junji ito monster. There is no other option
Scylla was feeling herself this whole time. Especially 2:21
0:42 the blood on the floor~
YES YES THE DOG HEADS!!
most people give her eels or like angler fish like heads (which I have no issue with, creative liberty!) but in the actual myth her six heads are dog heads!! I love this, thank you!!!
This is the most terrifying version of Scylla and I love it. Also the blood being the only visible color and so prominent is amazing.
God, the detail of the bandana/headband/scarf from the end of different beast is such a great detail
BIBLICALLY ACCURATE SCYLLA LET’S GOOOOOOO🎉
I mean this seriously, once you've got more practice and are more experienced than even now, you will be a legend within the Epic community. Perhaps even further than just Epic as well.
Lore Accurate Scylla! Watching them hunting and murdering the sailors like a pack of wolves and the adrenaline of trying to sail through that is amazing! I actually felt my heart racing as the men are trying their hardest to row out of the cave while their men are getting killed.
I love all the genuinely terrifying scylla designs that are coming out with more animatic atm. Especially this one, wow!
OMFG POLITES’S HEADBAND IN THE BEGINNING!!! WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THAT?!?!?!
The inclusion of Charybdis is incredible, it really makes Odysseus's wit shine
Where was Charybdis? I heard multiple people mention it but I never saw it.
Nvm, I saw it after I watched it again
@@crazy4schleich852 Sorry I just saw your comment! In case anyone else reads this and is wondering, we saw it inhale and exhale at 1:58
This is mu favorite animation of scylla ive seen 10/10
I love the way this version shows Odysseus’ facial journey-his resignation turning to determination
This is actually the coolest Scylla animation I’ve seen so far, so bad ass, love it.
THE FACT THEY START SCYLLA OFF AS STRAIGHT DEMONIC I CAN'T
To be honest, if you're a seaman, especially in Ancient Greece, you'll expect to see some type of eel-like sea creature.
I 100% guarantee NONE OF THEM expected snarling, demonic wolf-serpent hybrids.
Someone needs to refine this Scylla and post it as its own thing, I honestly like this one better than Gigi's (Though hers is absolutely spectacular in its own right!)
I absolutely love how Charybdis is making a cameo!
Love the inclusion of what i assume is Charybdis and Odysseus having one final consideration of whether or not he will risk it or give up the morals he tried to keep before "Monster"
Making this feel more like the final nail in the coffin for Odysseus' Ruthlessness to be fully realized
Great work!
This is amazing! I adore your Scylla design, it reminds me of carnage/venom symbiotes with the long teeth
The second I saw it said it contains blood gore and horror I knew it was for me
When I see a new Epic animatic, I click faster than the Flash.
this is such a good set up for when he picks the crew to die instead of himself with Zeus.
That is a terrifying design for Scylla, it's great
Scylla clapping Eurylacus out of existence and fading into Odysseus' tormented eyes is immaculate 💫
Aaaaand I have officially found the Scylla winner for my list of favorite Epic animatics! 🥳
That was incredible.
And have her pets wolves hounds instead of being like a sea serpent.
the way you draw scylla is hella fine i can't lie
1:08 I FLINCHED that was so good!!!!
I know they’re eating Ody’s crew but the dogs still look like good boys
Your animations are always top notch Holy Moly.
First of all I love the dog/wolf heads!! And your artstyle and all the details are amazing this is definitely one of my favorite animatics
Now for story commentary bc I noticed after re watching a lot of different animatics is that Odysseus doesn't respond to Eurylochus' confession and apology literally at all and instead there's a long silence before he gives him specifically the command to light up the torches.
I know that's probably because he's the second in command, but Ody is doing that knowing that whoever is holding one of them is getting sacrificed to Scylla. Therefore it's fairly likely that Eurylochus will be one of them.
This is so amazing that I feel sick
Holy-
this might be my favorite Scylla design I've ever seen :V
I love how gaunt everyone looks in your animatics. Even Eurylochus, who’s usually depicted as huge, is thin and sunken-cheeked. They’ve been on the sea for two years, and by this point they’re slowly starving! That design decision helps a lot with supporting their decisions in Mutiny.
ABSOLUTELY BANGER SCYLLA DESIGN YESSSSS
THAT makes it so much better, because then when the Vengance Saga comes out, it throws the hint that Poseidon freed Charybdis from her prison much more than in the actual story of EPIC
i love how the boat was already bloody. so many sacrifices already had been made, and wood is hard to get the blood out of
