    Bought this exact model Target and it's just beautiful and high quality. Definitely a keeper. Great review 👍

    I walked into the shop 30min after they put it out on display, held it in my hand.. The trigger is the best double action I’ve ever felt and it was very well balanced. Love the sights and looks of it too. This will be highly sought after if they ever stop making them and will stand the test of time easily.

    I have the K6S DAO 2” model. When I was shopping for a carry revolver. I looked at the Colt, S&W and Ruger. The Kimber K6S was the best quality of them all with the best trigger. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Kimber revolvers.
    The recoil is a bit stiff in .357 Magnum. Practice with .38 Special and use proven loads like the 135 grain .38 Special +P Speer Gold Dot or Winchester, Federal or Remington 158 grain +P LSWCHP.

    Great revolver. But keep eye on cylinder release button. Mine fell out in 200 rounds but they had it fixed an returned in one week. Love the gun.

    Stopped by to say that revolver is one of the sexiest firearms I’ve ever seen.

    Kimber has really made a hit with their K6s. I carry the snub DASA version. Nice review.

      Thanks! I really like what Kimber did with this revolver. I had and carried the original K6S DAO until my dad made me an offer I couldn't refuse and traded it to him. BTW, I'm a subscriber of yours and enjoy your reviews as well!

    That adjustable rear sight unit is out of proportion on this frame. Great looking, well sized grip. Were Kimber to offer a shrouded hammer version similar to the S&W Bodyguard revolver, it would be a sure winner IMHO.

    My Target I bought today came with finger grooves. It also doesn't have a diamond cut around the screw holes. This grip looks kind of like the 3 inch model grip.

    • @RooftopKY
      @RooftopKY  3 роки тому +2

      The 4" combat model has grips like what you describe. What do your sights look like? Adjustable rear? Or standard 3 dot? If standard 3 dot then you have the combat model, if they are adjustable like on mine, then I don't know as I have only seen the target model with the grip like mine.

    I just bought this gun from an online retailer. Nothing in the add indicated there were 2 target models. I ended up getting the GFO variant. It has green fiber optic and the finger groove combat grips. Great shooter but the grips are a little short for my hand but still super happy with my purchase. Need to find a good holster for it, need to check out the Galco model you have.

    Love that 357. But if you ever have to shoot one without hearing protection you are in for some pain. 357 in an inclosed area and you are going to have permanent hearing damage

    How is the the recoil comfort with those flat back grips and exposed backstrap? I know that's subjective and I know a .357 in a small revolver can kick a mite, but as an example the Ruger SP101 grip has rubber covering the backstrap and does not punish the web of your hand unnecessarily. When I see a flat area at the top of the wooden grip with only a very, very slight roundness to a 90 deg. transition it makes me think that's going to whack you pretty hard.
    But that's an impression just from looking at it , so - is it kind to the web of your hand or should one assume the price of a new rubber grip in the total cost?

    • @RooftopKY
      @RooftopKY  3 роки тому

      Grip and recoil impulse is stout, but I don't have any rubber gripped pistols to compare it to. It's not unmanageable, and doesn't bother me even with full power 357 loads. That being said, you might feel differently.

    Looking at maybe grabbing one of these (probably in 3 inch though) any thoughts or opinions on the recoil management when firing the 357 magnum? Seen some reviews that the recoil is rough with magnum rounds? I’d like to hear different opinions before I actually buy it. Thanks guys

    • @RooftopKY
      @RooftopKY  4 роки тому +2

      It's stout. No more or less than my S&W 649 though. I don't know if anyone makes a soft rubber grip, but that might help a little. Recoil reduction is one of the reasons I loaded a few 38 spl +P variants to try. Once I find the right recipe, I'll probably just stick with those over the 357 mag.

    • @toomanyletters8116
      @toomanyletters8116 4 роки тому +1

      @@RooftopKY “stout” doesn’t sound too bad lol. I mean I’ve never considered myself recoil sensitive, but I’ve seen different people shooting it and sometimes it looks like these people can’t control it. While others have no problem with fast follow up shots. Maybe it’s something I can just come to get used to

    • @RooftopKY

      If you've ever shot a J-frame with 357 magnum rounds, and did fine, then you'll be fine with this.

      I have the 3 inch DASA. My first single/double revolver. Love this gun. The recoil is indeed stout, but Hogue makes a Bantam mono grip that fits both DAO and DASA. They’re uglier and grabby like most rubber grips but practical for shooting .357 magnum while getting better control of the gun. Hides well in a DeSantis Flex Tuk. Absolutely recommend this gun. Saving up for the four inch Combat.

      One option is the combat model, or just swap out the grips, I always used Hoge combat grips on my service pistols, they are grippy and comfortable.

    Are the grips for the 4 in Combat DASA interchangeable with the 2 in DASA external hammer, and are they available? Thank you

    • @RooftopKY
      @RooftopKY  4 роки тому

      The grip frame is the same on all of them, so in theory, any Kimber grip should work with any of their models. As far as availability? I have no idea. Maybe best to contact Kimber directly.

      Even a limited run of the K6 in .327 Federal magnum might give some well needed added support to this potent little round. Would like to see it chambered for 9x19 as well. Were only the leadership of Colt as inventive.
