Awesome video, i was looking at either the Sa v3 8 or x8 v3 subs from directronix. You think the x8 v3 is way better sub then the sa v3 8 or jus handles more power basically? I heard the sa v3 8s sound better more musical then the x8. Im looking to put 4 ported under the seat of my truck. I have 3.5cu net to work with. Also i seen options with the x8 v3 you can get the yellow v2 spider or red v3 alomg with v2 cone or v3 cone, is there a major difference going with v2 spider cone then v3? Gonna have a Salt 3 pushing which ever 4 subs once i decide. Trying to hit atleast 140dbs

Sa will be more efficient but your maximum output will be limited by power handling. i’m a big fan of the bullet profile surround (V2 i believe). sundown always improves something with each version. not always based on necessity.. without evaluating each component between versions i cannot really say what would make the most sense for reaching your goals. ideally comparing the ts parameters and purchasing whichever works best for your application

Aww should have got a close up of the coil and pole piece. I could swear that the X8 v3 had an aluminum coil. I need to check mine now. I've never seen a coil break like that. I wonder if it built up inductive current at that point and weakened it?

They are copper on a aluminium former, it is just the adhesive they use that gives that look. Funny how mine just done the same thing, never had any speaker do this before, possible manufacturing issue maybe.

Bro E6000 for the spider landing??? Definitely should use epoxy for that

I disagree. I have never had e-6000 fail at the spider landing. E-6000 has a tensile strength of 3500 psi. Granted, this is lower than the average epoxy. That being said if the X 8 has a 6” diameter spider landing the appropriate surface area for bonding is 4.51sqin… multiplied by 3500 psi = 15,785 lbs. This is a theoretical calculation that I have never actually considered before but i think you can see what I’m getting at…

Are you done changing your reply now? Of course you disagree that’s why you’re using the wrong product.

@@garyclemmons1073 whatever you say. I changed my response because I felt like my first reply was too snarky. In retrospect I can see that perhaps that was unnecessary. Chemicals including adhesives have properties and they need to be considered based on application. If you would like to elaborate on why, in your opinion, you believe epoxy to be the correct choice then by all means. If you want to continue saying “your wrong” with no justification then 🤷‍♂️.

@@MrM_Full-Send I wish there was a laugh react on here. The spider landing doesn’t need a flexible adhesive. It’s cool that you’ve built hundreds this way, but there’s a reason manufacturers use epoxy.
