@SithskyLord They're not morning people. Anakin could have waited to attack in the morning but it wouldn't have been as cool and dramatic so he insisted on the night attack. Thankfully they were on their lunch break which is serious business.

The thing that would make sense for me, it will be that they were dismissed and send on the battlefield as reinforcement, just to be near clones when the order was issued.
They might have first attempted to hold the attack outside the temple, soon realizing the fight was unwinnable given the overwhelming numbers of the clones (and the most famous and powerful jedi they had turned to the dark side leading them.) Then, perhaps they focused their strength on evacuating the temple and earning time for the rest of the order to flee, that being the reason why we don't see them inside the temple. (This could explain why the hangar bay was pretty much empty after the initial assault.) The temple guard also knew the location of every single "secret" hallway. Some of them might even lead to potential exits. (Perhaps the number of Jedi who actually managed to escape is higher than we thought.) Anyways, I bet many of them just got overwhelmed by the clones, and *some* succumbed to their intrusive thoughts. 😁
