I just started this hobby/obcession Jan/Feb 2021, so if someone would of told me a year ago I would watch someone organize nail polish for an hour I would of told them they were crazy. I not only watched but really enjoyed watching you, thank you so much for making my evening so enjoyable.

I started in November 2020, so about the same time. LOL! Now my husband complains that he feels like he lives in a nail salon. XD I'm watching this out os desperatation!

I also stop to look at polishes when organising so it takes me weeks to get anything finished lol

I literally lol'd when u said how hard BKL is to color code. I have a cabinet that I'm constantly reorganizing of Sarah's polish. They look perfect, then I look at a different time of day & nope I'm wrong! I feel ur pain!🤣
I'm SO jealous! Bee's Knees is one of my faves! They have their own leather case. :D Your room isn't so bad, my living room has the ironing board semi-permanently set-up since it's half covered in nail polish and also covered in nail glitter, etc... Beside the ironing board is the huge basket of stuff to be ironed... There is a huge amount of other stuff boxinging the ironing board... So I'm pretty desperate for a good organizational solution. I was looking forward to how you handled KB Shimmer, so I was surprised that you didn't mention them at all. How cool, I love baking too! Reading is breathing. ; )
Have you considered moving your polishes to a drawer system? I really like these as like one helmer really doesn't take up much space. When I used to do my nails in my old bedroom, my helmer was either in my closet or tucked in a corner.
I had moved KBShimmer over the day before I started filming. They were already in their own drawer so I just spaced the polishes out into 2 drawers.
@@NicoleLovesNails It's funny, I already had plans for an helmer. I'm planning on moving all my nail stuff out of the plastic drawers and into an helmer (although I haven't bought it yet). However, I've done some some mental reorganization and can fit a few of the helmers in, freeing up a lot of space! It was great to see an organizational video that was in a real house, not one that looks like it can only be a movie set or in an enormous mansion. : )

Omg I just added liners to my drawers today and it took like 2 full hours to cut them out, I was so over it by the end! Also, what is that topper you're wearing on your nails? It's so cute!
I hate cutting them out too. My hand hurt so bad after cutting up so many rolls. On my swatch hand, I was wearing the Bee's Knees Lacquer Dec Hella Handmade Creations polish. On my short nail hand is Christmas Balls by Heather's Hues.

I have almost 3000, so I can relate to being polish obsessed. I keep a polish spreadsheet and have a bunch of IKEA Alex’s. I organize alphabetically by brand and alphabetically within the brand. I just can’t do color order at all. There are just too many shifty ones and it’s hard for me to decide what color they actually are. Also, I couldn’t figure out what order to put them in-burgundy then red then orange, or should pink come after red because red and white makes pink? Should white then come after pink? Where do I put oranges, then? Then there is orange browns and where to put browns. Nope, alphabetically is much easier. Also, it’s easier to find them if they are in alphabetically order. If I did the swatch sticks, I’d label them and put them in color order as best I could. You did a much better job at color organizing then I ever could.

I love a good organization video 😊 I feel the same way about my creme polishes and toppers! I had been storing my toppers in a separate place, and have thought about keeping cremes all together as well. Just not sure. I might end up keeping at least a few together for topper swatching, like a black creme, basic white, and maybe navy, a purple, and a few other colors. I tried to organize my own collection last year...and the year before that LOL. But have failed both times. This past year I at least made progress. I decided on Alex drawers from Ikea (after much deliberation) but Ikea was sold out 😥 Then I decided, fine I'll do Helmers...Sold Out 😑 So back to the drawing board, I found some dressers online that were shallow enough that they would work. Except I didn't count on how heavy that much polish would be per drawer, so they started to sag when I started loading them up. 😲 So, until we get each drawer retrofitted to hold more weight, my poor nail polish area remains a disaster area LOL 😅🤣 Or maybe I just need to scrap that whole idea and see if Ikea has Helmers again 🤷♀ I'd love to see a collection video. Maybe by brand so you could discuss the colors, you could start with your favorite brand or the one you have the most of. Can't wait to watch! ~Caroline

I’m really tempted to go back and just make a drawer for cremes. I started keeping my black and white cremes in my swatch supplies drawer since I use those so often.
Also I would definitely recommend checking the Ikea website for helmers or alexes. They seem to go through periods of not shipping them for weeks/months and then boom shipping again.

Thanks for sharing! I am working on organizing my collection too... it includes adding cabochons to the tops of my bottles. Wish me luck! I do not know the Super Chic story... is there someplace online I can go to learn what the issue was/is? I really try to be a conscientious consumer.

If you’re on Facebook, Toluene Trashcan has some posts discussing indie brands and their owners. It’s hard to keep track of everything everyone does but that’s a good place to start. I think there might be some posts on Reddit too but I’m not as familiar with that platform.
The only thing I would say would be to be careful of that drawer liner, I cant remember whose liner put like a waxed spotting on the labels, so I switched it out to plenty kitchen roll.
Thank you for the headsup! I remember the blog post from a few years ago. So far, I have had the Ikea liners in since I got my first helmer a few years ago and haven't had any issues with it.

Wow - good for you for getting it done! I need to do mine too but I don't have as many, maybe close to 1K if I add indies plus mainstream. I have 2 helmers, definitely need at least one more, if not 2 more. Just curious, it looks like you have a piece of wood/plywood between the stacked helmers - is that to keep them more secure or because you turned some of it into a workstation? Wondering if I need to do that if I stack my helmers? Thanks! Look forward your videos each month!
My house is super old so the floor in my nail room isn’t leveled. We added those boards plus some shims between them so that the helmers would be level and not fall over 😅 I have seen other people who stack helmers not need to add them. Kinda just depends on your floor!

Do you think that the Alex drawers allow you to enjoy and really see your polish? I have had my polishers in racks for years. I feel like it looks great and also I see what I want to wear better.
Yes! I still enjoy my polishes by opening the drawers and seeing all of the pretty colors. If you swatch the tops, they’ll be really pretty when you open the drawers.
I like the alex drawers (I use one for my makeup) but they don’t pull out all of the way so you can really put things in the back that you want to get out easily again. I have also heard of people having issues with the alex drawers buckling from the weight of being full with nail polish.

Hi Nicole. Can you please tell me if the black Dahlia polish fits standing up in the drawer with the cabochon on top? I have heard different answers to this so hopefully you can tell me?? Loved the video! And you look very pretty all natural! 😊
I was just experimenting with this earlier today 🤣 They sort of fit. If you put the bottle in a drawer that *isn’t* the first one, the cabochon will bump the top of the drawer when you open/close them but if you stand the bottle with other bottles, it’s workable. If you put one in the very top drawer, they won’t fit and will fall over each time you open.
I had an issue similar to this with another brand (Pop Polish) and found as long as I surround their bottles with shorter/sturdier ones, I could keep them in drawers with minimal headache. The glass cabochons will also be sturdier than the silicone ones as I found with the silicone, the polish will chip off over time from bumping the top when the drawers open & close.
