My guess is the majority of the reason would be breathing in oxygen and eating and drinking regularly enough, as well as avoiding certain dangers such as being hit by a train etc. That's how I would have done it at least.
If they think that Toy Story joke was dark…then they should NEVER UA-cam search “we’re not aiming for the truck” DO NOT watch that unless you can appreciate dark and disturbing humour
Fun fact: in my country, the movie had a subtitle that translates to "The Rivals". Also the great thing about Toy Story is that its about the existential dread of being replaced and becoming obsolete... And those themes REALLY ramp up in the sequel. Jessie's story and that flipping song make me cry everytime. The thing is, for a while it was thought that not even Pixar would follow up on the implications that they set on the first two movies, even though Andy growing up and moving on was an inevitability... AND THEN THEY DO. It was frankly ballsy and shows why Pixar are (or used to be) the best animation studio out there.
16:34 actually, we do see Sid's father asleep in the scene were Buzz realizes he's a toy. That scene also subtly implies that Sid's dad is an alcoholic (which probably explains why Sid is the way he is).
This, and toy story 2, were some of my favorite movies growing up. I was buzz lightyear for halloween like 4 years in a row. To this day, when I talk to my grandmother, she always says, "I love you to infinity and beyond," before we get off the phone. This series will always have a special place in my heart.
I get more shocked everyday by the movies Jen hasn’t seen. Just reading the title of the video is mind boggling. This is the ultimate childhood movie of childhood movies
Getting to see Jen‘s reaction for the original 1995 Toy story was amazing. Especially since Toy story was Pixar‘s first 100% full CG movie if I’m not mistaken. Holden‘s reactions reminded me of how I reacted when I was a little kid after watching the movie and Jen‘s reaction was 100% my first reaction when watching the movie for the first timehope she loves the rest of the movies and I hope you guys are ready for Toy story 5
You're right, but it's more impressive than just being Pixar's first. This was the first CG animated feature film. Some 2D films had used 3D elements, and Pixar in particular had some CG shorts, but nothing like this.
Awesome that Jen said she loved watching Home Improvement! Did she catch the tool box that falls on Woody at Sid's house said 'Binford' on it as a reference to the show.
Awww Jen's amount of emotional investment in this was so adorable! It's comparable to animals how much she cares about these toys! And so quickly, considering how short this movie is. I loved this reaction, can't wait for the next two!
Out of the songs in this movie (before anyone says it, I know there aren't a lot of them), my favorite is "You've Got A Friend In Me" Side note: So many comedy legends/comedic actors in this movie Tom Hanks-Woody (I also love him in the movie Splash, with Daryl Hannah as his mermaid love interest) Tim Allen-Buzz Lightyear (I also love his portrayal of Santa in the Santa Clause movies) Jim Varney-Slinky Dog Don Rickles-Mr. Potato Head John Ratzenberger-Hamm Wallace Shawn-Rex Annie Potts-Bo Peep (She's also best known as Janine Melnitz in Ghostbusters and as Sheldon Cooper's grandmother in the sitcom Young Sheldon)
It's really great seeing someone experience this classic for the first time. This was one of the first movies I ever saw, it came out a little under a month after I was born, I think Toy Story 2 was the first movie I saw in a theater. So, these hold a special place in my memory.
This is my favorite movie of all time, always been and always will be. It holds a special place in my heart and it's such a joy to see you guys watch it. Having Woody and Buzz next to you as you watch, that's definitely something I would do
For me is a 10 and beyond!!! It’s that good that made my brother (9 at that time) decide to be an animator! Tim Allen and Tom Hanks are terrific together, they deliver every line with his own magic and make Woody and Buzz so alive! And the rest of the cast, what a beauty, Rex, Ham, Mr Potato and so on! Action, adventure, thriller, drama, comedy, everything in one film!
Hey Holden! Like I said before, I was already an adult when this movie came out, but I REALLY liked it as did all my friends. My 90 year old mother loves all 4 movies in the series
6:13 I cannot believe I have gone my ENTIRE life without realizing slinky the dog is voice by Ernest AKA Jim Varney. I loved the Ernest movies back in the day
John Lasseter (director) used to work for Disney before Pixar. He tried convincing the old guard at Disney Animation that computer animation was the way to go. The previous head basically, said something along the lines, that if it doesn't save money, then it's not worth it. But they gave Lasseter the chance to show its potential in "The Brave Little Toaster" which contained a combination of computer-generated graphics and traditional Disney hand-drawn animation. He was let go after this was completed. Didn't Toy Story have bloopers in the credits? Also, a couple jokes that might have been missed: The Binford Toolbox was a reference to Tim "The Toolman" Taylor's sponsor in Home Improvement. The legs toy combined with the hook is a reference that adults would get.
YES!!!!! This is my favorite cartoon movie of all time! The OG Pixar movie. I truly hope Jen loves it and wants to watch the sequels. They are ALL amazing!!!!
I never realized this was the first animated film nominated for Best Screenplay. I thought BEAUTY AND THE BEAST was, but I just realized that was Best Picture.
The Toy Story franchise is my all time favorite Pixar movies. Toy Story 3 is my absolutely favorite film in the series with Toy Story 2 after that. Can't wait to see Jen's reactions to both Toy Story 2 and 3.
@@nsasupporter7557 Toy Story 3 is the best one to me because it was dark, in my opinion. However, it was still funny and very entertaining from beginning to end. And I agree that 3 had a great conclusion. As for Toy Story 4 I like the movie, but it was unnecessary.
@@movies798 yeah, 3 had a perfectly good ending to the franchise. I don’t know why they’re milking it now… because a 5 is coming, did you hear about that 🙄😒🫤
I remember when I first saw this movie on VHS when I was 4. I had so many toys of the characters Woody, Buzz and countless others. It's my all time favorite Pixar movie.
I was fortunate enough to go on holiday to Disney World when I was young around the time this movie came out. We stayed in Dixie Landings resort (since renamed), one day we had been out all day at one of the parks and came home to "catch" all the toys spread around the room up to no good. The house keepers spent the time and effort to add just that extra touch of magic. Great memory.
Really hope you guys watch the next one soon! Seeing Jens reaction to this absolute classic was wonderful but I know she’ll like the next one so much more!
What an iconic movie I watch it in my childhood, such an iconic duo woody and buzz You got a friend in me iconic song You and Jen’s relationship is amazing and awesome and funny
What a trip down memory lane. This and the 2nd film were two of my favourites as a kid. I remember being frightened of the toys at Sid's house, and rewatching it as an adult, that was definitely justified, those things are nightmare fuel. Glad Jen enjoyed it!
I'm super excited to see this. I absolutely adore this movie. Growing up, all I wanted was a Buzz Lightyear. My dad's favorite was the green aliens. Can't wait to see what Jen thinks.
Fun story. I saw this movie in theaters with a few of my friends after smoking up. The scene in Buzz's room with all the mutant freak toys was Extra Horrifying😵
Wow can't believe you're only watching this one now, Jenn, after so many years. But better to have seen it late than never at all. It's such a classic, up there with Star Wars and Indiana Jones... just classic movies that are so great even years and decades later. The whole Toy Story franchise is one of the very very few franchises where I've loved EVERY single sequel. Even Toy Story 4 was really awesome. Absolutely loved it. I predict that Jenn will really like most of these, if not all of them. Such a great series :)
My first ever film seen in theatres. I was 4 at the time. Fun fact, Buzz Lightyear is named after Buzz Aldrin, the second man ever to walk on the moon. Lots of good voice talents apart from Hanks and Allen. R. Lee Ermey voiced the toy soldier Sarge; classic insult comic Don Rickles voiced Mr. Potato Head; Wallace Shawn voiced Rex, John Ratzenberger voiced Hamm; Jim Varney voiced Slinky.
In order to render "Toy Story," the animators had 117 computers running 24 hours a day. Each individual frame could take from 45 minutes to 30 hours to render, depending on how complex. There were a total of 114,240 frames to render. The final product took 4 years total to make.
Possibly is the way he is BECAUSE he had a bad father, maybe even abusive - which is probably why the father is out of the picture. Mom kicked his butt out for the sake of herself and the children.
Love this movie, and 2 and 3 as well. When I was a kid I got the vhs of this movie for Christmas, and the whole present unwrapping thing stopped so my mother and father and I could watch the whole movie, then get back to the presents.
Seeing how it's Christmastime, it's worth mentioning that there was a 1986 Christmas special made by Jim Henson called The Christmas Toy, about toys coming to life when their owners aren't around, and how they fret being replaced by the newest toy. The plot is so remarkably similar to Toy Story that you wonder if the Pixar people were involved in The Christmas Toy's development, if they wholesale ripped off its story for Toy Story, or if it was possibly just a crazy coincidence. But since both are now owned by Disney, it's not like any lawsuits are ever gonna happen over it.
Fun Fact: Pixar is a subsidiary of ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) which is the CGI department of Lucasfilm. A group of people from the original team of ILM went on to create Pixar Studios.
Especially the 2nd film I would watch that a lot on VHS!! I wish we did stop at 3 because it was a great way to end it all instead of going up to 5 to fully close it
I was shocked to hear Jen had not seen Toy Story, especially when i saw the banner and title of the video. It's defiantly become one of those iconic movies in film making. Not to mention in animation as well with it's use of CGI, which was the big hype surrounding it. At the time of release it was Robert Ebert that compared the graphics computing power in Toy Story of that to the at the time an announced game console (not sure if it was the Nintendo 64 or PlayStation 2) , which is laughable when compared to current standards in computer graphics processing power. This is one of those movies I can agree to watching over and over again, it's been a while since I have and glad I got to sit and watch you both enjoy it 🙂
Jen not having see toy story is absolutely criminal! But I'm glad because now we get to have he react to the entire saga here! :D I think my fave is toy story 2.
As soon as I the thumbnail, I was like, "How the heck did Jen never seen Toy Story (as I am hitting my leg as saying), im just surprised". But glad she will watch the Toy Story Series.
The gas station that Woody and Buzz get left at is a Dinoco gas station. This is the same Dinoco that is mentioned in the Cars movie, which are also Pixar films. This just lends a bit more credence to the theory that all the Pixar films are connected and take place in the same universe.
I didn't have the greatest childhood either so I've also not seen a lot of classic "but everybody's seen this" movies. I watched the majority as an adult with my children. So at least they got the experiences young. I never had the Disney collection of movies. We don't all get the same life experience and it gets annoying that people assume we all grew up the same way with the same things. Glad your husband is making sure you get these experiences and memories now 😊

I love how, during the birthday party, they didn't want to animate a bunch of extra kids. So, every single kid is just Andy in different clothes. 😂
That’s smart actually. Why spend time and money if they didn’t have to
Andy’s father got around
