It baffles me when some reviewers say they didn't find the love story compelling in the original trilogy. I thought Carrie-Anne and Keanu did a fantastic job as the love story between Neo and Trinity is central to the entire story.

Trinity is one of the greatest and most under-rated action heroes out there, male or female. I loved the character because while Neo was essentially Superman, it was Trinity, Morpheus and the others who were at dire risk every time they entered the Matrix. This always raised the stakes for these characters and made Trinity stand out. She was both graceful yet fast and ruthlessly lethal in how she engaged - every movement was deliberate, committed and focused. Despite the danger, Trinity never relinquished control of a situation. When Merovingian was toying with them, it was Trinity who seized the initiative and turned the heat up to 11 with an ultimatum and a gun to his head. When a thug tried to escort her out of the restaurant meeting, she - without looking at him - stated "touch me, and that hand will never touch anything again'. And by this time in the story - we all knew she meant it. When Trinity says anything - she bloody well means it and you best heed her warning. But despite all this, she was still also a caring, empathetic soul who cared for Neo and those around her. It wasn't either or - she had it all and yet it wasn't forced. Carrie Anne played her perfectly and I am thrilled to have her back. (PS - I love Neo too LOL ; )

When Carrie-Anne says that "Keanu has a masterful understanding of action" and he starts shaking his head 'no'....this is something that Keanu cannot deny even if you are only being humble.
I noticed that, he is so incredibly humble that he can't take compliments, he wants all the praise or accolades to go to other people. He doesn't see how special a person he is and I bet he hates being called famous or a celebrity, to him it's just his job and he's just a regular guy. 👍
He probably does it out of fear of feeding his ego. Everybody has an ego, but if you feed it too much it can go to your head and cause egocentrism. Hence his deflection and unacceptance of compliments.
Yeah it's called modesty and humility something people nowadays lack due to being overly privileged and never having to earn anything through hard work but taking credit for what others do.
He's just super humble naturally, but he knows.
He's worked with some of the best stunt choreographers in the business.
He's become one of those super-pro actors who can do a lot of their own stunts, but he defers to the real stunt pros almost always.
Carrie-Anne & Keanu are both Renaissance Masterpieces, they look better as they age.

They look good for their age but let's be honest.. Physical aging has never been the thing that has made anyone look better. Confidence, calmness, wisdom and healthier living (that for some only comes later in life) is what can make someone "look better" as they get older. It's not about aging per se. It's more common that people just mentally decline as they age. There's nothing positive with physical aging. It kills us and the people we love. It should be classified as the ultimate disease so we can speed up the scientific research that will find ways to reverse it. I really didn't want to say anything negative here but I'm tired of the "look better as they age" cliched attempt to sugarcoat the sadness of aging.
I pray no one takes advantage of Keanu’s kindness. I hear all the time he takes pay cuts to help others and just pray he is never taken for granted. Such a gem in an often ugly industry.

These two starred in literally one of the greatest films EVER made. I don't think they realize it still to this day. When the original Matrix came out it was so mind-blowing not just from a storytelling perspective but a visual effects level. You can't not love Keanue as well.

I think you need to be a particular age group to truely apreciate the gravitas of the original film. It changed cinema, it was SO new and fresh and still has a very distinctive style. I REALLY hope the new one captures that!
Not even just that the story and it’s general plot was so thought provoking to a lot of people who experienced cognitive dissonance and gave them an outlook that assists them with discernment in all areas of the their lives. This movie could have very well changed the fabric of history 😂 (exaggeration)
I LOVE how delicately they speak, and don't need catchy wording to sell their points. It feels as close to sincere and genuine as can be.

Keanu doesn't really do to much talking during interviews but he really seems happy to come back with Carrie and the story
Above all, Keanu's a film nerd. Whenever he's describing a detail about his character or whatever story he's working with, he always sounds so excited and enthusiastic.

I love how almost everything I've seen of Keanu, he loves giving praise, but just watch how he disagrees, or shakes his head at compliments he receives. Seems a very humble person.
Yeah, he's not selfish, and looks for the best in others. It's a sign of humility, love, compassion, understanding. It's also him wanting to see others do better and himself doing well is important, but he'd rather let others do better. It's a sign of a pathway to enlightenment as well.

I'm glad they brought back Carrie-Anne Moss for the sequel. Usually when a sequel is made, an actress in her 20s replaces the original actress who would be in her 50s, and that is a shame. We talk about women empowerment all the time. Women empowerment shouldn't just be about empowering and giving all the opportunities to women in their 20s and 30s, but also and especially giving a chance to women who are 50+. Not being critical towards age-gap couples onscreen or offscreen, but it looks more aesthetically pleasing when the male and female lead fall in the same age-group. Let's show more love to actresses who are 50+ just as we show so much love to all the actors who are 50+ too. Can't wait to watch this.
Im so happy they didn't do that, especially when they choose someone new to play and old role they never played before. Im 100% down with the idea of giving the glory to the actors who made their own roles into a thing. I can't imagine ANY different person be able to play Trinity like Carrie-Anne did. Same goes for Neo, it wouldn't be the same letting someone else play that part just because he is younger. The actors definitely aged, but so is the story. Which gives more sense to let the original actors play their original roles.
I'm 20 years younger than one of my absolute closest friends and we both are gravel cyclists, she won a single speed title at a 200 miles gravel race, at 52! Boss!!! But the point is Hollywood shouldn't be afraid to dol like what Lana's doing and actually cast the actors at their age. They are bad asses!!! Bad ass roles!

I cannot flippin' wait for this movie. Seeing Carrie-Anne Moss and Keanu Reeves returning as Trinity and Neo after 20 years is so incredible. I was 14 when The Matrix Revolutions came out. It's amazing to get to relive the magic as an adult.
The Gap between Revolutions and Ressurections is technically 18 years.
But the whole Project is over 20 years old since it started in 1999.
I was 30 when the first movie came out, and I went out of the Theater, and paid again to watch it again.... the only other time I did such thing was with Star Wars (Episode IV, V, VI)

I have always loved this love story the most. Neo is the one, but he's nothing without Trinity. She's tough and smart and loyal and so badass, without giving up an ounce of feminity. She rocks. And I love actors who come back like this, remembering where they come from. Respecting what they did in the past. I am so looking forward to this.

My heart stopped beating when Keanu was praising Trinity/Carrie-Anne... so much deep admiration, kindness, and even "devotion". If I ever hear a compliment of that caliber in person for myself, I think I will simply evaporate...
Those 2 are on a whole another level of real acting. You can even call them Reactors & Reactresses. They have invested their whole being into who that they portray & it is real acting, Reacting. Imagine what would have happened on the set of Rust if Alec Baldwin had prepared & became a Reactor on the set of Rust? One things for sure, there wouldn’t have been a fatality.

Perfect time to release a movie like "The Matrix" in these times, it brings so much good memories to a lot of people, my little 10 year love it, she is even thrilled to the reopening of The Matrix prior to Resurrections, I love that we will be sharing these moments, thanks Keanu, Carrie, Lana the crew and producers.

I’ll never forget watching the original film back in ‘99 with my dad. The theater was packed and the audience was in absolute awe. At 11 years old I had never seen anything like The Matrix up to that point. Can’t wait for this next one
I also remember seeing it in the theater. I was in my mid-twenties.
It blew our minds. No one had ever seen anything quite like it until that point.
My husband didn’t take me to a lot f movies but he too k me to see it and I will never forget the experience
I was 15, they took us from school to the movies, you can imagine a bunch of teenagers reacting to it, I can remember all of us getting out of the movie theater in silence, we all where trying to process the awesomeness of it. I remember one of my friends saying “my mind has been violated” and we all started discussing real vs virtual reality. It really made us think. Not to mention we all bought the soundtrack, back in the day there was no youtube.

The Matrix was/is my favorite movie of all time. It is a movie with so many layers, pretty fascinating actually. When I found out they were doing this again I was over the moon! Keanu is still as amazing as I remember him ❤️

it is true though. Great to see them together again. In relation to the Matrix, seeing Keanu and Carrie, vs Morpheus and Niobe, you really do feel the connection, that is good storytelling. I think Carrie is a great actress! Shame we couldnt get Laurence Fishburne, but the title of the film says it all, you never know? Might we get lucky down the line? Could he return in the sequel (if there is one?)
Both amazing actors, briefly met and shook his hand many years ago around the time chain reaction came out. Seems like a really down to earh guy unlike most in hollywood.
Years later proved to be true after watching numerous videos of him interacting with fans and general public. Never realized how lucky i was just for the chance of a handshake and a hello so many years ago.
I’m not the kind of person that ships people or characters but these two would be an amazing couple.

Back when the first Matrix came out, my college friends and I were just going out to watch a movie and we happened to pick the one with Keanu because you know...it's Keanu. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. When Trinity first jumped and did her iconic move....it was an out-of-body experience. I was like "What the heck just happened!!!!!!" The CGI, characters, matrix, storyline....oh my gosh....my friends and I walked out of that theater freaking mind blown. I remember that I couldn't stop thinking about it and would often refer to it in my everyday conversations. It was life changing.
OMG...I love Carrie-Anne Moss so much and she's still gorgeous! I am so happy to see her back. My favorite lines from her are "Dodge this" and "Touch me and that hand will never touch anything again." She was so bad ass in those Matrix movies.
Neo and Trinity is among the greatest sci-fi couples. They're up there with Han and Leia, Mulder and Scully, Doctor and Rose, Kara and Lee!

What I love most about this is that you can see how these two people are so deeply connected to each other in their own way. It's touching to see how much they appreciate and admire each other, how they see each other's strengths, how they voice their admiration about each other and how they ultimately know that this journey is what it is because they took it together. They took that leap holding hands from day 1 and here we are, 22 years later. To me, this is the greatest thing that came out of the Matrix franchise: Neo and Trinity's love that translates into this beautiful friendship between Keanu and Carrie-Anne. So thank you, EW, for this amazing gift of an interview!

Me too. May 20, 1999. The Friday after I graduated high school. The first time I saw it was on a date, but 1st date anxiety kept me from taking it all in. I only skimmed how amazing it was. So, I went back the next day by myself and was blown away.

I can only imagine how epic it looked on the big screen.
I wasn't even born when it came out but when I watched as a kid it became one of my favorite movies of all time especially the first one.
First time I saw it, almost ran mad, never saw any effect like that. I was shaking bad
I love how they talked about nothing for 8 minutes straight and I still just enjoyed and felt entertaining it a lot! :)
Can't tell you how much this moved me to tears, Matrix my favorite movie of all time! No movie has ever put me in that level state of awe. But for all these years believing Matrix was now a very fond memory that would never return to instead see this, it's just too surreal! What a fabulous feeling, that is so rare, watching you share in this interview, seeing it in your expressions, hearing in your tone, and the perfect words used to describe your experience, moves me deeply! It's not necessarily time, some people just click like that. I met someone 6 months ago and we're already better friends than with anyone else in my whole life. We just understand each other on such a fundamental level that it's almost like we're the same person living two lives in parallel.

Love it! Keanu doesn't usually smile that much in his interviews, but it is so nice to see old friends get together again and I can see that the both of them are enjoying the interview because they are both doing it together.
You have to have seen the first Matrix many times to understand or interpret it. Even if this is not as good as the first one ( Which would be normal considering the first one is one of the best movies ever created) it still feels so good watching these 2. Time fly by so fast. I have been watching the trilogy for the past-15-16 years at least 2-3 times a year. They both got older but the fact that they are here again in the lead role feels so good, it feels like even us oldies are still relevant and part of it. Anyway, can't wait to see it in theaters !!

Can we all stop for a moment and point out and admire how good Carrie-Ann looks? She definitely aged gracefully and I cannot wait for this movie to come out. The Matrix was a huge thing back then. At least amongst our group of friends. I like to think of it as kind of a generational experience, even though it probably wasn't THAT big of a deal to the population at large. I guess at sixteen years old, I was the perfect subject for this movie. I went to watch it in a movie theater with one friends, and our minds were totally blown. Only other movie from that era, that had a similar effect on me was Saving Private Ryan.
