He has had a...well...rough few weeks. I am surprised you haven’t heard of him as he was on quite a few news outlets recently and all over social media. All his troubles aside, this song is really great. However, you may get some emotional or passionate reactions on this choice.
Country boy meets girl at beach. Invites her to come to TN. She doesn’t go. He is left alone with just the sand in his boots to remember her and the trip.
Man it’s kinda obvious. On vacation at a beach. Meets a woman. They hit it off. He tries to convince her to come home with him and all he brought back was sand i. His boots, meaning she left him waiting that morning.
He was raised in Sneedville, TN, across the mountain about 20 mile from where I live. It is a very beautiful part of our great country. So some true words about the stars on an East TN night.

It’s not really Country still. It’s pop country, but it is good music.
The song is about how you can be from a place like Tennessee. At first people don't want to move here, but once they come, they never want to leave.

One thing that affected his reign was that he was caught on tape saying the N-word in reference to a white friend on his own property in a non hateful way without the hard R. He got cancelled by radio and lost his booking agent and his label suspended him; but the backlash by those who don't want him cancelled over this mistake has caused the opposite affect as the cancellers expected. OMG! Don’t take it literally. Sand in his boots is how he is saying that he’s heart broken and has nothing to show for it but some sand in his boots which indicates that he’s been to the beach and he’s returning without someone that he really cares about.

Little more on him: called his friend the N word during yet again a drunken stupor. Not the first time him acting like a fool and apologizing for it then doing it again. He's been banned from country radio, lot his label, lost endorsements, etc. He even told his fans to stop defending him.

You'll know the truth one day it always comes out such an overblown experience that should have never happened and I'm not saying on his behalf this was a bunch of crap that started some hatred in country music.... From a doorbell camera or not he was not in the streets screaming at a black person to me there's a huge difference take it how you want it but he was talking to a friend in his own residence..... I'm pretty sure Mexicans Asians whites and blacks have all said things in their own residence that they do not want to expose.... Life changes. hence why we grow... But this was not a growth experience.
