Jellyfish paralyze prey using neurotoxins in their tentacles, but the turtle does not seem to be affected. It closes its eyes and uses its flipper as a shield from the jellyfish’s stinging tentacles. Green sea turtles are endangered. Their main threat is overexploitation of eggs from the beaches they are laid on. Green sea turtles are predominately herbivorous, but juveniles have been known to feed on jellyfish.

What a fascinating sight to behold! Sea turtles play a vital role in marine ecosystems, helping to control jellyfish populations. Witnessing them in action like this is a great reminder to protect these majestic creatures and their habitat.
I've always wondered if jellyfish are aware of what is happening around them and if they swim following their own direction or simply following the current.
they follow the current mostly
some of them can swim and control their direction minimally. they don't have brains so they're not actually aware, but their nerves can feel temperature and touch.

For the jellyfish, it was one of its most horrific days in its entire life span; its arms are pulled apart one by one as he screams in terror to no one but himself.
For the turtle, it was a Wednesday.
I told the same thing to my friend last Wednesday at the sushi restaurant

Sorry to burst your bubble.
Jellyfish don't feel pain. They do not possess a brain, heart, bones or a respiratory system. They are 95% water and contain only a basic network of neurons that allow them to sense their environment.
No brain
No pain.
It had no concept of what was happening.
About 20 years ago, I was on a beach in Florida, and I believe it was probably February. It was unusually cold, and there was icy rain, and the wind was picking up the sand and pelting us. The beach was littered with small sea turtles, all dead and cold. I will never forget that day, and how miserable it felt.
:(
That’s lovely

Death by turtle aside, I find it really cool to see such tiny fish in Bluewater, especially around the tentacles of that jellyfish (the nature of their symbiosis should be apparent) rather than a reef. Sea turtle: Nerve toxins? I called it SEASONING!!
I don’t know if someone already mentioned this, but the jellyfish toxins make the sea turtles “high” - instead of killing them - the same way marijuana affects humans. Sea turtles are the stoners of the ocean. 😌
that would explain why juvenils are the ones eating jellyfish
Explains the Turtles in Finding Nemo
are you sure you dont mistake that with juvenile dolphins playing with pufferfish
Well... if you put it that way. Dolphins like to play with puffer fish as the toxins released from them makes dolphins high.
That's actually why the turtles in Finding Nemo acted like stoners! They were high when Dory and Marlin met them
