Have 2 SF4000 and a 600W HPS in the same room, plants under the HPS lean towards the SFs, can save you about a week in bloom time on harvest too, try autos under them, massive.
Since we’re at the point where DLI is becoming more common knowledge, I’d love to see what the apogee reads as the fixture is completely dimmed to full power draw at 24” hang height. I suggest 24” since the spread seemed the most even in corners while having decent enough intensity for bloom at 100% power still in center. I’d love to see what average/relative dimming results in 300-400 par which I prefer during veg @ 18/6 for that goal of roughly 21-25 DLI (which I aim for with a targeted vpd of 1-1.2 being met)
That little light will bang a 3’ flood table in a 4’x4’ tent. 2.7 umols per joule is pretty amazing. I’m convinced that led would directly replace, if not outperform a 600/750 watt HID with significantly less heat to deal with.
J M the amount of heat that these quantum boards produce is probably less than half, if not more that of a 1000w HPS . I used them for almost three decades and still have some because of the 💰 but I don’t think you can beat the newer LED lights in efficiency or effectiveness. They do better close to the canopy and the footprint is smaller for most of the QB lights but if you’re using tents or smaller areas where heat is an issue then you can’t beat em. If you have 15 foot ceilings and the proper amount of HVAC and dehumidification then run DE HPS bulbs every 4 square feet in small hoods for a more focused light penetration. Really just depends on your space and environmental issues that you have to deal with but it seems like most people are using tents now days and I don’t think a DE HPS is ideal for that situation and would be less effective for several reasons where the QB’s are optimal for that same situation.
E Lancaster - I’ve got some in a tent and some in a room... both work perfect during the winter but I’m already struggling with the heat and we are just in the start of spring.... I’ve bought two SF2000 to replace a 1000 DE HPS to get a little more coverage... I’m going to test them out in the room this summer and if I can keep the temp under 30 degrees then I’ll buy 8x SF4000 for my tent 👍🏽👍🏽
E Lancaster - In my room I have three scrog tables measuring 6ft x 3ft for 2 plants per table... each table has a DE HPS - do you think I’m right in buying two SF2000 per table? Instead of one SF4000? Thanks man. Peace
no the light is dimable so put it all the way to top of tent and start off with 25 percent power first week of veg and progressively turn light up you should not be at full power until you are in week five or six of flower go check out welcome to the growtent he explains it better👍
800-1000 umol, you need a light meter too configure that in your room. His test is in a grow tent , number of lights and room size determines how high and how close
put it all the way at top of tent and use the dimmer knob to run a progressive light you should not be at full power until week six check out welcome to the growtent 👍
Can you point me to a video of yours of give some advice on the correct PAR and/or Lux needed for germinating and growing seedlings? Ive decided to try a method to leave the seeds in a mondi dome to grow for a month. Most use a 25w T5 light. What type of PAR output do you think would be good for that month under the dome? Also what type of light schedule would you suggest 24/7?
I’ve found two SF2000 chained together gives a much better light distribution than one SF4000. Two SF2000 kill it in a 5’ x 5’, the SF4000 not so much.
Their is a video that test that theory.. 2 sf2000 vs 1 sf4000.. the sf4000 is better for a 4x4 I just paid 460 for a sf4000.. was looking at buying 2 sf2000 but $150 more and 50w less..
I'm going to push the envelope with this light and's stuff all that intense lighting into a 3x3 tent with 2 plants, best of all I'm going to use autoflower for the experiment.
Reamember that full sun gives you 2000 ppfd reading the hot spot on the light is 20% of that and less then 10% in most other places at 12” it’s not the worst light out there and for the price when compared to the light next mega that cost $2000 with about double the performance this light is on the right track with its price to performance.
you're not too god at paying attention or math. At 12" it got 1950ppfd, which is basically equal to the sun, not 20% of the sun. But no one grows indoor at that, so it's really a stupid comparison.
Good numbers 30 and 24 is great for the standard home group are 18 and 12 is also suitable if you want to push it with CO2 I think you struggle just for you better for the money 👍💚👏🇬🇧
would you not push this less than 18" without co2? im in flower now with the thought the closest without burning leaves is best but i dont know first indoor led grow im at about 18 now living soil organic
I would 100% go closer if I wanted a higher numbers but then I use the same meter that is shown in the video and I’m constantly adjusting and tweaking on a daily schedule to keep this consistent. I’ve got to be honest I don’t think you really need to run CO2 in a organic environment. That ambient CO2 levels are more than adequate in my opinion I wouldn’t waste your money see you to is for a high-performance grow hydroponics where you’re pushing the plant to its absolute limit CO2 is just one part of the equation. Whereas organic is more about achieving as close to a natural end product as possible without stressing the plant. Personally I don’t think 99.9% of people would be able to genuinely tell the difference between the two in a blind tasting certainly nothing has been proven scientifically and there are so many variables that can affect the endproduct anyway I’ve gone off on a little bit of a tangent but honestly I don’t think CO2 is necessary and organic environment turn off your CO2 and simply look at the natural numbers you’re getting it always surprises people I encourage people to take their fresh air intake from their household the higher the number of people in that environment the higher your numbers are typical household of four people when everyone is at home it’s not hard to get those numbers up into 1000 ppm
I just orederd two archibald AR-4000 pro. They look exactly the same as SF-4000 with dimmers. Same drivers and diodes. I want to make a video comparing them. My uncle has the SF-4000, so I can really compare them. I only paid $800 for two of them including the heavy shipping costs. I am disabled, and poor. I have to find deals. I went to school for electronics, so I understand what to look for.
thats base setting when you pull out the box...could you adjust both drivers to pull close to 600watts n retest? i just got mine n adjusted driver to pull about 595watts
I believe the drivers can be removed and there is a way to dim the fixture. Not sure if you watched my Mars Hydro SP3000 PAR test video but that video shows how to dim. Although, I didn't remove the drivers to verify this time around because I was told increasing the dimmer lowers the overall lifespan of the fixture.
Yea u can dim. Kinda a pain in the ass u have to remove the drivers then dim. One driver controls 2 of the QBs the other driver controls the other side. Hope this helps
Hey man and y'all, hope y'all doing great, I was wondering if the SF4000 worth it ? Cause I was about to buy a CHILLED LOGIC , the HLG 600 or GC ROI-E680 but I'm curious about this model.. what do you recommend ?
I was looking at pretty much the same list you are now, I went with the SF-4000 and I'm not disappointed at all. I'm using it to flower a 5x5 and the ladies love it! I would purchase it again and I'm actually planning on purchasing the SF-2000 to use in my 2x2 veg tent because SF-4000 has impressed me so much.
i bought 2 sk600gh one spider farm 4000 and one rapid led [100 watt puck and hlg 4000 k so far i like the sk600gh for its light penetratiion but hate the cost the spider farm was cheap got it at 550 maybe less i feel i got the best bang for my money with spider farm 4000 if you wanna go cheap currently selling the spider farm 4000 to buy the chilled x6 grow craft 600 watt diy for more light and uniform of light
Based on your test, I would say this light will do a decent job flowering a 3x3 tent at about 20” above the canopy. That being said, an HLG550v2 RSPEC could do a better job, and do it in a 5x5 tent. You get what you pay for with LED lights. Just something for the potential buyer to keep in mind.
you do get what you pay for and i sure as hell wont be paying 800-1k for led lights...im grading from mars hydro 1600 to these n even mars is worth their $ and it doesn't cost anywhere near the rspec. i was 50g short of a full lb from 4 plants using mars hydro
I run sf4000 in a 5x5 and it flowers perfect. I’m not a lazy grower and I don’t cram my tent plum full either so I do rotate my girls once a week. All I know is I stopped chopping off all my bottom branches because the Nuggs get just as fat and dense as the top ones now. Must be good penetration because this bitch is hittin!! For the PRICE it is in my opinion the best QUALITY BUILT cheap light on the market. Better diodes and better drivers than the competition as far as cheap led lights go. If you do your research you’ll find out that mars LEDs loose there intensity over time we’re as the Samsung LEDs will hold their intensity and life longer. BOTH are good lights but you get what you pay for! As for HLG550v2 over priced is their only problem!!!! I’d have a room full of them if they could stop acting like there light is the best on the market because lights like Spiderfarmer are proving them wrong.
Thanks Chris. This was really good information about the Spider Farmers 4000. When you did the review of the Mars Hydro Sf3000 you turned the drivers to 100%. You didn't do that with this review. So, I'm wondering what the PAR or the PPFD is on the SP3000 is at 425w , factory settings. .. Thanks so much for your awesome videos. Your friend from Nebraska.
Yeah I'm wondering what the PAR numbers are on the SP3000 at factory settings too. I've been told increasing the dimmer reduces the lifespan of the fixture so that's why I didn't increase the dimmer this time around.
For the price of those you could build your own ultra-efficient light with perfect corner to corner coverage using Samsung (or GreenGenes) strips. If that's not your thing, two of the 3-panel HLG QB's would work well in a 5x5. For the lights you suggested, 2 x ES300 wouldn't cover it based on reviews and PAR tests I have watched.
PAR measurements look great overall, but the edges and corners are not. It's a shame that a light rated for a 4x4 or 5x5 area that costs almost $800 Canadian can't deal with this issue like the light strip/bar style of QB tech that does.
Maxisun PB2000 times 2 or the viparspectra P2500 times 2 Is a much better deal better spectrum and over all better build. Especially the viparspectra P2500. I've got all these lights. It's a second hobby of mine. Putting em through the paces and selling at a slightly discounted rate because they have 1 grow with em. Stay safe stay lifted.
i have the sf4000,my buddy has the mars hydro, and the aluminum on mars is junk,at 400watts the heat sink means alot, and mars needs better aluminum, other then gloss,sf uses same aluminum in apple macbooks
On a side note thanks soooo much for the promo code and and your video ( great prevention and keep it up!) soooo muchly appreciated and the promo code made my day since I’m Getting multiple lights prolly and you have me the final convince to not buy my last hlg lights .

I'm getting 2 x SF2000 for a 4x4, I think you could make a more even coverage that way.
Absolutely
why is that ?I get great coverage in a 5 by 5 with the sf 4000
@@joepelland7138 I was basing my thoughts on the ppfd readings in a 4x4 tent, but if you're getting good results in a 5x5 then that is good news.
yes sr👍
Reamember that full sun gives you 2000 ppfd reading the hot spot on the light is 20% of that and less then 10% in most other places at 12” it’s not the worst light out there and for the price when compared to the light next mega that cost $2000 with about double the performance this light is on the right track with its price to performance.
2000 ppfd requires more nutrients, co2 which is readily available outside, honestly it's hard to not burn plants above 1200 indoors
you're not too god at paying attention or math. At 12" it got 1950ppfd, which is basically equal to the sun, not 20% of the sun. But no one grows indoor at that, so it's really a stupid comparison.
Witch one is better you think the spiederfarmer or the mars hydro
sf uses samsung leds. mars uses Epistar leds. Samsungs will degrade much slower over time giving you a longer lifespan.
thanks for the discount code just ordered one
I went to school for electronics, so I understand what to look for.
hi chris how are you hope all is well im really thinking og going led what area would this cover and is it better to get 2 sf2000 instead thanks
I USE SF4000 PLUS A CMH 315 epic grows in a 6x6
Are these par measurements @100% output?
thats base setting when you pull out the box...could you adjust both drivers to pull close to 600watts n retest? i just got mine n adjusted driver to pull about 595watts
Love to know how much that incresses ppfd or even fc readings .
Mik t, the instruction pamphlet warns against doing that. The LEDs will run too hot and burn out sooner. 450W max.
This is basically 4 QB, correct? Par numbers are great.
Yea. The QBs r about 2 inches bigger than the hlg 550. Idk if this helps u.
Hygrohybrid is running 2 of these side by side with one hlg 550 r spec i believe
Great series so far
I would love a light like that to shoot some videos that's awesome
Looking for 1 for my 4x4 to bad the haven't made a ballast like hps
no good for a full grow then ?
Any comparison to the mars hydro TSW3000W? are these two the same LED?
Wow impressive numbers! Does it have a dimmer? Also, are there UV and IR diodes?
I believe the drivers can be removed and there is a way to dim the fixture. Not sure if you watched my Mars Hydro SP3000 PAR test video but that video shows how to dim. Although, I didn't remove the drivers to verify this time around because I was told increasing the dimmer lowers the overall lifespan of the fixture.
Yea u can dim. Kinda a pain in the ass u have to remove the drivers then dim. One driver controls 2 of the QBs the other driver controls the other side. Hope this helps
It's got ir but no UV I believe
I didn’t get my measuring tape! Dam how will I make it!❤️👍🔥🌱✌️✌️
I didn’t get mine or the tags lol looks like I will have to send it back lol 😂
i didnt get the measure tape or plant marker tabs eaither just instructions snd light with hangers😩
@@joepelland7138 I have 5 lights from them and nothing with lol 🤦🏻♂️
Nice job Brother
Im getting my new spider farmers sf4000
i just harvested today with my sf4000. The gelato looks amazing.
Mine cane with a dimmer. No need to remove the drivers
Great review!
I'm wondering if 2 240w Meijiu Quantums spread out symmetrically in a 4x4 would be betterment.
I have that set up in a 5x5 for veg and plants love it
Tuesday cheers Chris🌱💕💨😍
This light is dimmable but only manually. You have to take off the driver and flip it over and use a screwdriver
Can you do mars hydro fc/efc 6500 too?
What percentage intensity do I turn it on for? I just installed it and have it down at 40% intensity in a 4x4
thats the same info im lookin for
Hey man and y'all, hope y'all doing great, I was wondering if the SF4000 worth it ? Cause I was about to buy a CHILLED LOGIC , the HLG 600 or GC ROI-E680 but I'm curious about this model.. what do you recommend ?
I was looking at pretty much the same list you are now, I went with the SF-4000 and I'm not disappointed at all. I'm using it to flower a 5x5 and the ladies love it! I would purchase it again and I'm actually planning on purchasing the SF-2000 to use in my 2x2 veg tent because SF-4000 has impressed me so much.
i bought 2 sk600gh one spider farm 4000 and one rapid led [100 watt puck and hlg 4000 k so far i like the sk600gh for its light penetratiion but hate the cost the spider farm was cheap got it at 550 maybe less i feel i got the best bang for my money with spider farm 4000 if you wanna go cheap currently selling the spider farm 4000 to buy the chilled x6 grow craft 600 watt diy for more light and uniform of light
roi680 has alot more light then this spider farm and has better cover and uniformity meaning the side of tent will have more light
I have 2 x sf2000 in a 4x4 would that be equal to a 4000 or more or less?
2 sf 2000s are better because they spread the light out more evenly, I'm getting three sf 2000s for my 4x8 tent
Aloha Chris, What about a test for Electrick Sky? or some of the $1000 lights?
How many watts do these put out ?
Hello, what was the Heat produced off this light?
Mine runs about 125f. 140f on the driver
Your spider farmer discount code isn’t working.
@@lonestardank8644 are your temps low enough to add a 2nd light i was thinking of getting 5x5 and adding a 2nd light i have a mars hydro 250
Jarhead monk not sure what your asking?
Jarhead monk 2 mars 250 in a 5x5 is good!
Alright mate is that tent 1 metre x 1 metre cheers
@@GardenTalkwithMrGrowIt
Maybe, if you would do another Test on the Mars SP3000 at factory settings. Mine is at 423 was at the wall.
What would be better in a 5x5? 2 ES300 or 1 Nextlight mega?
For the price of those you could build your own ultra-efficient light with perfect corner to corner coverage using Samsung (or GreenGenes) strips. If that's not your thing, two of the 3-panel HLG QB's would work well in a 5x5. For the lights you suggested, 2 x ES300 wouldn't cover it based on reviews and PAR tests I have watched.
Victor Supreme I would build it myself but i just have no idea how to.
Between those two choices, I would go with the Nextlight Mega. You’ll need to buy at least 2 maybe 3 ES300’s to adequately cover a 5x5.
Mangrow Goodbud thanks bud
Hey Chris!!! Thank you for all the reviews.... Any chance you can review the BP3000 (bloom plus)?
This or optic led 480h?
PAR measurements look great overall, but the edges and corners are not. It's a shame that a light rated for a 4x4 or 5x5 area that costs almost $800 Canadian can't deal with this issue like the light strip/bar style of QB tech that does.
Yea that's what I was thinking. Kinda have me leaning more towards the fluence spydr style lights.
Nice light! Definitely cannot handle a 5x5. Your buds around the edge will suffer
Is this a UL list light,,would it pass codes in a commercial setting
Good question. I don't see it say UL listed anywhere on the product listing page. I believe the Meanwell driver is UL listed but I could be wrong.
On their website, spider-farmer.com when I looked at the sf4000 details I scrolled halfway down and it does say it is ETL and UL certified.
Is that a 5 by 5?
4x4
i have the sf4000,my buddy has the mars hydro, and the aluminum on mars is junk,at 400watts the heat sink means alot, and mars needs better aluminum, other then gloss,sf uses same aluminum in apple macbooks
Can I use this in a 2x 4?
BIGFISHMAN T.V. Too big and too much heat.
Its like looking into the light at the end of life....
Camera exposure is affected by light so it adjusts.
why did that shop you you have for coupon delete the lights ? :(
On a side note thanks soooo much for the promo code and and your video ( great prevention and keep it up!) soooo muchly appreciated and the promo code made my day since I’m Getting multiple lights prolly and you have me the final convince to not buy my last hlg lights .
