I'm usually pretty sniffy about bands who don't either write material or plays instruments - but Steps are so good at what they do I love all their albums, the songs are so happy and I'm singing them all the time!
There were some self written songs on their album Buzz released in 2000.
The key thing is that they are honest about what they do. They are not song writers, but they know that. They are performers first and foremost, and they have a good ear for what works for them as performers. They often talk about spending time finding the right songs, and working with producers to get the right sound. Thats probably why they feel authentic, despite not being song writers.

Finding Steps only a year ago, I've read comments about all the excitement that accompanied the release of their previous albums. Now, for me, experiencing the anticipation and excitement of the release of "What the Future Holds" is a hell of a ride.
I’ve been feeling low, so low mentally, I guess quite depressed to be honest with you. I just cranked this up, danced around the house and now I feel a little better. This tune has magic unicorn, rainbow healing vides that touches my soul and tells it that everything will be okay. Thank you Steps, I still adore you. 🌈❤️💜👏🏼🙏🏼
