I know I literally just uploaded a cover a few days ago, but I couldn't resist posting this since I finished it tonight! It's a cover of the song "Safe and Sound" from the soundtrack of the upcoming Hunger Games movie. I think Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars did a beautiful job with the original -- when I first listened to it I literally wanted to cry! The lyrics are perfect. It's incredible.
This can't compare to the real version, but I really hope you guys like it... And if you haven't read The Hunger Games yet, I'm telling you -- you're missing out! Go buy or borrow a copy. You won't regret it.

I've always imagined this to be the ghost of Prim wandering the ruins of District 12, singing back some version of what Katniss sang to her.

While I'm listening to this song, I think about two moments in the book:
1. Katniss and Prim are sitting under district 13, before the crazy cat game. Thirteen District is on fire.
2. Prim is in the Kapitol, she's helping the children, who haven't died yet. Then... it's Prim and Katniss who are on fire...
And then, it becomes really hard to me not to cry...
WHY?
Katniss' father. Rue. Mags. Finnick. Prim. Madge. That's not the end of the list.
I do not know, how Katniss could handle this...
almost every death in the hunger games (except Snow and Coin) was really sad but especially Prim's death made me cry😭😭😭 she is my favorite character and never hurt anyone. She just wanted to help people and was always kind to everyone.
Hey, guys! For anyone wondering where my original version of "The Hanging Tree" went, I didn't remove it - it's been wrongfully copyright claimed, so that's why it's not showing up at the moment. I think it may have gotten caught in a sweep and they mistook it for an unlawful upload of the Jennifer Lawrence's movie version, but I've filed a counterclaim and hopefully it should be up again soon. epicmaddie It's still available for download on iTunes and Loudr! The track has been legally licensed to sell and distribute, so it should stay up on those sites in the meantime. Hoping the video is back up soon, though! So sorry for the inconvenience, I'm pretty frustrated, as well. :(

Everyone keeps saying how this is Taylor Swift's song. Sure, she wrote the lyrics but the Hunger Games used the tune so it is considered a Hunger Games song.

That's not true. Suzanne Collins wrote the original lyrics to The Valley Song (Deep in the Meadow; Rue's Lullaby in the movies) and The Hanging Tree, but Safe & Sound is all Taylor Swift and MAYBE some other, non-author writers.
Edit: This was co-written by Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars (Joy Williams & John Paul White), but definitely not Suzanne Collins.

this version is much more soothing. in taylor's version, you don't really apreciate the lyrics and the meaning of the song. and then there's the drawing for the video. every time i look at it, i want to cry.

I read all the books, and they generally moved either too fast or too slow in them. If peoples lives revolve around it, fine. Adriana just has a freakin perfect voice, and needs to do more :)

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (2026)
In June 2024, after another prequel novel was announced, Lionsgate officially confirmed plans for a film adaptation. Francis Lawrence entered early negotiations to direct the movie. The plot will take place forty years after The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and twenty-four years prior the events of The Hunger Games; and will depict Panem and its 2nd Quarter Quell. The movie is scheduled for release on November 20, 2026.

I think that, because its insparite on Katniss' relation with Rue, Peeta, and Prim, it's a great song. You see, "Just close your eyes the sun is going down" Subscribes Rue's dead. "Darling everything's on fire" reminds me of the moment the Capitol putted everything on fire to keep Katniss away. "I remember tears treaming down your face,when I said I'll never let you go" is obvisous the morning of the reaping with Prim. "Hold on to this lullaby even when the music is gone" A rue line. Perfect

Katelynn campbell Thanks for the input! My vocals are not pitch corrected or tuned at all in this song, though - the only thing I did was add some reverb, so there was very minimal editing done on the track at all.
