I ask a lot of questions it’s all about improving every day. When I went I told myself don’t brag work hard and watch the top level guys and ask questions don’t make it about competition as much as learning and improving. I’m glad I had the smarts to act like I don’t know shit 🤣

To me, it's not what you say, but how you say it. It's just level setting before sparring/training, so your partner can adjust accordingly. I can usually tell within a couple of seconds the skill level of someone I'm grappling with, and at least in my experience, white belts tend to sandbag too often. Sometimes it feels like they are just fishing for an advantage, which is just a different way of managing insecurity. Personally, I don't care other than that I'm not going to roll with a true white belt in the same way as an All-American wrestler or Blue Belt in BJJ because training should be a mutually beneficial experience.

I come in and ask questions I typically wanna go with someone better than myself. I found because of my athleticism they put higher level guys on me not because I’m good but slippery. I just go in and try and be better than I was the time before.

Wish I saw this video 5 years ago. I went to a new gym after I moved to the city and tried to establish some cred from the start. But the guys at the gym took turns kicking my ass for a solid 30 days. After that I never went back to that gym again.
