This channel has been the BEST resource for me as a bedroom producer and I am immediately going to apply all of these tips to my own work. Please NEVER stop making these!!! Your dedication to these breakdowns is awe inspiring
small way is far too modest! ALso, an artist id love to see a forensic breakdown of is Bruno Major. He has a super unique style and sound and his backstory is pretty inspiring and amazing as well.@@AudioHaze
Holy freakin' moly man... I love hearing the contrast between the unmixed / mixed sections of the cover. It makes it clear that you can't just throw the sounds together. That's an art. Your personal connection with the song really showed in the cover. I got goosebumps
Man, firstly, I'm so sorry about your friend. Dedicating this incredible video to him is a beautiful, beautiful eulogy. Your opening up and being vulnerable just displays all the love you have for your friend and for the music of Hozier, and how meaningful it is to you. Totally respect that. I'm not familiar with Hozier's music, but if he treats his music like you treated the production and the covering of the song, I must surely will check him out. Once again, thank you for an outstanding video.
Thanks so much Eduardo :) yeah definitely check it out if you're into modern soul revival stuff!! Its a really cool blend of pop sensibilities with a more gospel, retro influence.
I've got a be honest, I know I've heard a few of his songs but I'm not that familiar with Hozier as an artist. That said this is a pretty incredible feat you have pulled off. 130 tracks just seems insane for what sounds to be a pretty simple song but the end result speaks for itself. Your story of running into him is pretty awesome as well. This is some of the best content on YT and I'm really enjoying it. Well done.
Thanks man! Yeah its crazy how many tracks can add up into one cohesive sound that sounds like only a few large ones, such a good way to fill out the mix though
I like most genres. He’s in my top 5 all time favorites. I wonder if he’s more appreciated by songwriters. Just so much thought into chord progressions, tempo changes, sometimes super subtle. As with all music listen w earbuds/headphones. Probably start with 1st album
Seeing a parallel compression/mixing video from you would be phenomenal!! Especially with compression, i think most people do it wrong starting out but it is vital to a professional sound.
the last part actually made me cry. his music also lifted me up when I was on my lowest. sorry about your friend and you did an amazing job with the cover well done mate.
Holy cow can we give a hand to ethan for those vocals. At the beginning of the video I was like "no one can match hoziers vocals" But Ethan might've just done it.
Omg buddy there's so much in this video! First though, so sorry for the passing of your friend, but thank you for being able to show something of what he meant to you 🙏 Mate you guys have done a stellar job on the playing and recording (again) of this awesome track.. awesome and very inspiring. Yes, do an 'in depth' video on the mixing process please :) Now where's those stems? 😎🔥🔥🔥❤️
Thanks so much Marcus!! To everything, it’s not easy being vulnerable on the internet so that means so much. Stems are in the description waiting for ya!!
Thanks man. This hits home so hard. This year I lost my sister and his album arrived right after that. A much need place to go in such a challenging time.
If anything, I’m happy we could both lean on the same body of work during hard times :) I’m so sorry for your loss though, hope things are getting better
This recreation is unreal, I'm so happy I found your channel in time to see this. You put so much into this series and it shows in the end results. I'm so sorry about your friend. I'm also born in 1997, and to some extent I feel the impact of meeting Hozier and recreating this song. You will get through this. As far as the final product goes, I'm so inspired by how well it turned out. I'd love to watch a video by you about parallel processing. Also, the choir part at the end makes me crazy, Ethan went god mode and it came out so well. Congrats on an all-timer, can't wait to see more from you!
Thanks so much man :) and yeah Ethan nailed it, its absolutely insane to even attempts that choir alone and he did so well. Lots of the pitches that Hozier himself had to pitch up Ethan just hit naturally, crazy
Thanks so much! I'm definitely feeling a lot better than when I recorded this, feelings were still very raw. Regardless, appreciate you checking out the vid!
This video is just wonderful man, im so sorry to hear about your friend.. isn't it so spiritual so cosmically insane when people like hozier just walks across your path and you're able to take something positive from such a horrible experience. You've got a fan for life brutha your editing is TOP NOTCH and i mean top notch and your musical prowess and skillset is inspiring man. I'm currently creating my first song and this video is invaluable in the nitty gritty of it all. Thank you so much
This is one underrated video. Seems like some people when they discover this gem of a channel, will also discover this gem of a video. Saying it now, 50k views is severely underperformant for what content is here. I doubt that will remain. Keep it up! One of my favorites :)
I came here for a nerdy mixing video and left with tears in my eyes, and a nerdy video about mixing. I’m sorry to hear about your friend. Hozier’s music has been healing for many of us in many ways. I hope he gets to see this video one day. ❤ quality content. 🙌🏻
First off I'm terribly sorry for your loss, but thank you for sharing and having the courage to be that vulnerable in front of us all. And second Hozier is some kind of genius and this video might just be your best yet. The amount of work behind this is nothing short of amazing. Again thank you and keep up this amazing work!
Firstable, I'm so sorry for your loss. This video is incredible and the result was pretty impressive. And yes, I would watch the extended version of this with all the behind the scenes, deleted scenes, cats and everything. Hope the almighty algorithm picks it up.
From one UA-camr (and music lover) to another, I love your channel! Looking forward to seeing your continued success. I’m also very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend! -a new fan
I have seen all of your videos and "liked" each one of them. wish I could do more. you deserve a massive following for the information you provide on this channel.
It's such a blessing for me to find a channel like this and even more because you're such a big fan of Hozier. In my case he's the reason why I bought my first guitar. it was so respectful and beautiful from your part that you made this in the memory of your friend. My best wishes for you and all around your mates and family. Cheers from México.
100% interested in deeper dives on things like parallel compression. Your videos are amazing, keep up the great work! *Edit* (was commenting halfway through): wow man! I’m sorry for your loss, I know that’s tough. Thanks for openly sharing more of the story here - and what a moment in JFK meeting Andrew!
Of all songs/singers this one in particular was such a bold and difficult choice, that, regardless of the results, it deserves a lot of respect. Not only the process is so well documented but the result is incredible - I still can't believe how huge and beautiful the final part sounds. There is so much in that video... thank you for making it and please keep going, this is a real inspiration!
Ah wow thank you! It definitely was a crazy challenge, but it paid off for sure. Cool to show that working in a home studio doesn't have to mean smaller, limited productions
Wow, giving each of the stems, the mixed version, the unmixed version etc is incredibly helpful for us producers to try and recreate the sound. Thank you for your dedication in making this video and I hope you are feeling even just a little bit better now
@@AudioHaze yessir I think so. I’ve been enjoying the corner you’ve turned from gear reviews to bedroom producing, and the amount of work you’re putting into these projects is insane. I hope the channel keeps growing and you keep grinding.
I've never really listened to Hozier before, you might've just changed that, but boy that performance gave me goosebumps. I think your friend would be very proud of what you did here!
i am so happy for you, to meet your idol in such an important moment! you really nailed this one, it was beautiful!! If Hozier hear this one, i am sure he will be proud of how well you reproduced his song, but i can only talk for myself and you/it moved me! Thanks for all of your work.
I lost a friend around this time a few years back, and it really is such a surreal feeling… I’m so sorry for your loss man. You’ve made an incredible tribute to him here. Thank you for sharing this
This is amazing. I also wasn't expecting to tear up at an AudioHaze video but what a lovely tribute to your friend. On top of a beautifully produced video and song. Sleep well earned.
Just found this channel, it’s my daily driver now and the amount of work and research so far, is unrivalled in any other videos I’ve seen, RIP Ethan Taylor x
Holy shit. There's so much here. I just gotta say, thank you for what you do for the "bedroom producer community" and for the passion, feeling, and effort you put into your craft. And thanks for sharing with us a bit of your inner world, it's a bit of art we are trying to make after all.
I don’t know much of hozier’s music tbh but this was so interesting! Not only for seeing behind the scenes of music i’m less familiar with to use in my own music, but also all the in depth detail and how well recreated it is - as always with your videos :) So sorry to hear about your friend, this is a perfect tribute to them
Man. The Universe really delivered with giving you that interaction (sent by your friend looking out for you no doubt. I'm so sorry for your loss). Thank you for sharing. I'm trying to get into producing my own music and I have no idea where to begin as a non-technical person. This is helping A LOT. Sending you love!
Thanks Erin :) yeah it was definitely drove me a little crazy how specific that experience was for me, hard to just to view it as coincidence sometimes ya know. And yayyy that's so great to hear! That's really the main goal, to attract those who may not be that into production and music tech, and have them realize its doable in a bedroom, and not only that, its super fun :)
I've been looking forward to watching this since I saw you posted it yesterday for Hozier is one of my biggest inspirations as well and boy was this video good. Great work!
before i say anything, so sorry for your loss, hope Ethan's family is doing okay and hope you are too. This video is one of the best videos I've ever seen. It was perfect. the amount of knowledge that was given in this video (and all your other videos) is unmatched to anything I've seen before. I haven't listened to 'Movement' in quite a while, so when you talked about your friend and then played the cover (which was incredibly accurate and gorgeous), I was moved to tears. It's tough to make me cry but shockingly, this video hit something deep inside of me and idk what it is. thank you for making these videos, they've helped me so much as a producer.
I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome, thank you for your kind words and I'm glad I could help in some small way :) happy producing my friend, make some dope ass records
Amazing job on the video congratulations! Very sorry to hear about your friend. Hozier’s music was medicine for me during a lonely time in my early 20s. His music actually inspired me to get on UA-cam and make some tutorials. Your channel is inspiring me to get back into UA-cam full force! Also got to jam with Jordan many times back in the day he is truly incredible player. Cheers brother keep doing what your doing!
Wow! It took me about 10 minutes to put a comment in here, right after watching the whole video. I believe apart from the awesome cover track and all the efforts you have put into making this, there is an artistic layer, deeper, in how you told the story which to my eyes, it out shines the whole thing. The video is just wonderful! It has been directed and treated like a masterpiece! Of course as a musician and a producer, I started to watch the video because I was looking for the information in the title, Like I seriously wanted to know how to create that sound in a bed room and on a budget but, man! I found myself lost in the story right after a few minutes. That's it! It's wonderful!
This is so incredible, I just started studying a little bit about production, I've learned a lot, thank you very much. Mainly because these videos take such a long time to produce lol please continue
just discovered your channel as I'm starting my own bedroom producer journey and it is so inspiring, this specific video has been my favourite so far, thanks for putting so much love in what you do
This video moved my intellectually , physically and emotionally. Everything is beautiful. Thank you for the love and attention you put in everything, It just boost’s my passion❤️🔥
First of all incredible videos. These videos where you break down recording techniques of artists are mind-blowing to me and the amount of work that goes into them is astounding. All the performances here really captured the uniqueness and grandness of movement especially in the last part. Hozier also means a lot to me and although I haven't met him in person I've only seen him live I still have a similar relationship to him and his music in that it means so much to me and has gotten me through really hard times. Your mixing is really top notch and makes me wonder if you've done a lot of other professional work outside of UA-cam before hand cus it sure sounds like it. When I bring up the original track and play it back and forth with yours it sounds spot on. The only thing I'd do differently is bring up the bass and kick a bit more. The original recording has a lot more bass and low end in the kick also around 300 - 400 hz in the "boxy" region the original mix didn't shy away from it. Also the bass is very present especially throughout the loud section at the end I feel like your bass kind of melts away. But I'm also a bass player and always love sub sounds at concerts and loud bass in recordings so maybe im hearing things. But all in all really liked the video and these videos have really inspired me in times when it's felt like I don't have enough energy to work on music cus im working too much or I just wanna come home and chill. Then a video of yours pops up and it gets me whipping out my bass and recording some baselines or drums, so thank you!
Thanks for the kind words Cameron! And yeah definitely noted on the bass, funnily enough I cut a lot of sub out of the master right before publishing this video because I thought the kick may have been a bit boomy, maybe I should have left it as is hahah, glad you enjoy the vid dude!
Your channel deserves to be much bigger, this is really high quality content and thoroughly researched. It's also well paced and entertaining. You're like the Navie-D of pop music.
Had to pause right before the cover started to shed a few tears myself, tbh. Went to a musician friend's funeral on my birthday this year, and Hozier's... yeah, a pretty big deal for me, too. I'm also an increasingly big fan of YOURS, and fwiw, if I ever get back on the horse of my own channel, I'd be remiss if I didn't say that yours has lately been a significant source of motivation and inspiration for ME. Apologies if that's too much false comparison, hope you get this in the spirit intended, and in any case, PLEASE keep up the great work you're doing here! Take care.
no not at all a false comparison! I'm so happy you left this comment, almost brought a tear to my eye just reading it :) just not I'm right there with ya spiritually, hope you're feeling okay after your musician friend's funeral. Best of luck with any recovery you may be going through my friend.
If I could be like a tenth of the artist Hozier is, I’d be happy. I’m basically just looking for all the media of and about him to glean whatever I can. Really loved hearing your story ❤ and so cool you got to meet him in that moment when you needed it. Great video and cover!
13:16 Constructive comment on this masterpiece incoming. Noting that its non-parallel compression instead of no parallel compression might be useful for the beginners in the audience. Compression is notoriously hard to hear after all. Great, great video.
Sorry about your loss😢 Somewhere you’re friend is really proud of you. And you’re influencing so many people in a positive way. Myself included. Thank you!
I'm really sorry about your friend. You show us how special he was by dedicating him this honest and real video. Thank you for your incredible effort with this video. I bet one day a worldfamous star started with your channel!
It was very helpful! I'm a rock/metal guy when it comes to producing but I'm also a vocalist and Andrew has been a huge influence on my style. I've searched high and low for info on these production techniques so I was pumped when I got the notification for this video. @@AudioHaze
This is amazing and so moving - as someone who only dabbles with music as a hobby I find this all fascinating and AudioHaze is one of my most looked-forward-to channels for every update. Thanks for taking the time and for being so honest and open in this one. You rock!
Thanks so much my friend!! Surreal to have my videos being something to look forward to haha! Regardless, couldn't have hoped for a better outcome, glad you enjoy and are learning some cool stuff about production :)
This is incredible. Great channel for recording/production outside of my typical beat-making zone. I've collected some real things like bass guitar. bongos, mics, etc I am an infant recordist but this is so inspiring. Peace & Blessings! 🕊✨
Just want to reiterate I'm loving the pivot away from mic reviews to production stuff. I really want to see that long format video about productions techniques like parallel compression etc
Thanks man! Me too, this is so much more fulfilling in an endless number of ways, even if they take forever lol and noted about the parallel compression video!
Hey man, I've been really diggin your channel, it's crazy how similar we are. I had this exact idea to do a series literally exactly like these videos your doing, and you have really inspired me to get out and do it! Your recreation was incredible. You should be really proud. It was very brave of you to show raw emotion like that as well. Me and my wife recently lost three family members and two pets so I know you're going through hang in there and keep doing what you're doing great work and much love!
Man, I wanted this so much, you have no ideia. I Fkn love how hozier sounds always and wanted to be abled to reproduce it by myself. Thank you so much for this video
Love the effort. The production, right down to the editing of the video itself was amazing, these videos have come a long way since your switch from gear reviews, I'm excited to see what else you have planned!
oh my god I just dicovered your chanel this week and I have to say I'm obsessed with these series!!!! you are so talented and you seem to get so deeply immersed on whatever you do, it's super inspiring to watch you and it brings me just so much joy... not sure if you take recommendations but, if you so I would be thrilled to see one of these about Fiona Apple, she has a super unique sound and I've never heard anything quite like her sound, idk why but I just feel like you would work so interestingly with it; (Sorry if the wording in this comment doesn't make much sense, I'm not a native english speaker.........) Thank you for making such quality content, I really apreciate it!

I've been looking forward to watching this since I saw you posted it yesterday for Hozier is one of my biggest inspirations as well and boy was this video good.
Great work!
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it
Stupendous. This channel never fails to expand my concept of what's possible. Thank you AudioHaze
before i say anything, so sorry for your loss, hope Ethan's family is doing okay and hope you are too.
Love our content & approach! Thank You! 🙌
Thanks so much!
This has quickly become my favorite channel. If you made a video or series doing deeper dives I would 100 percent watch it
Amazing job on the video congratulations!
Couldn't have hoped for a better outcome! Thank you for all the kind words my friend :)
This is so incredible, I just started studying a little bit about production, I've learned a lot, thank you very much. Mainly because these videos take such a long time to produce lol please continue
just discovered your channel as I'm starting my own bedroom producer journey and it is so inspiring, this specific video has been my favourite so far, thanks for putting so much love in what you do
YAYY glad you liked it!!
I’m so sorry for your loss man, kind of crazy you met Hozier himself. I love your videos by the way, they are so interesting to me.
Thanks for the kind words, and glad you enjoy this vids!
Perfect timing, I've really been getting back into his music lately and have been loving his new album!
Sammmmeee!! Really cool progression from the last album too
That was absolutely insane
Actually one of my favorite songs, love your content!!
ME TOO, I hope i can still listen to it after this lol
dude i know this video was soooo much work, big respect
Thanks man!!
This video moved my intellectually , physically and emotionally. Everything is beautiful. Thank you for the love and attention you put in everything, It just boost’s my passion❤️🔥
holy shit thank you!! So glad you liked it
First of all incredible videos.
Wow thank you so much man! These take a ton of time so that means a lot :)
Buddy, this is so much effort, but you seem like you enjoy it, hopefully you get the full recognition and credit you deserve
dude you should totally do a video like this on how to sound like steve albini!
So happy you did Hozier!
ME TOO :)
It’s amazing how important all of those details are. And super interesting to watch. Def need a video on those techniques!
Coming right up (well eventually it will probably take a long time lol)
Insanely good, and yes id love a video on parallel compression please do that
Parallel compression video yayyyyy :)
13:16 Constructive comment on this masterpiece incoming. Noting that its non-parallel compression instead of no parallel compression might be useful for the beginners in the audience. Compression is notoriously hard to hear after all. Great, great video.
Choir part was really well put together man, great work from all of you
Wow.
I’ve been loving your content, especially your recent videos. This is next level. Your hard work is paying off
thanks so much for the kind words dude! Always great to hear after the sleepless editing nights lol
What a beautiful mix of video production and storytelling!! One of the BEST music analysis youtubers out there
dude this is insane. thank you for making this.
Thanks for taking the time to watch :)
What a hero. May your friend rest in peace. You did an incredible fucking video.
The whole team did amazing on this one but damn Ethan's vocals were on another level
Right??? Singing Hozier faithfully has gotta be one of the biggest challenges I can think of (also hi Nickkkkk)
Sorry about your loss😢
Somewhere you’re friend is really proud of you. And you’re influencing so many people in a positive way. Myself included. Thank you!
I'm really sorry about your friend. You show us how special he was by dedicating him this honest and real video.
Thank you for your incredible effort with this video. I bet one day a worldfamous star started with your channel!
Ok this is the video I've been waiting for, thanks for doing this.
Yeah man hope its helpful!
It was very helpful! I'm a rock/metal guy when it comes to producing but I'm also a vocalist and Andrew has been a huge influence on my style. I've searched high and low for info on these production techniques so I was pumped when I got the notification for this video. @@AudioHaze
Thank you for another incredible and super informative video! Also so happy for you that you got to meet Hozier in person. Hope you’re doing better🖤
Doing a lot better thank you :)) happy you enjoyed the video!
I'm a fairly new subscriber, but this is already my favorite video. So so happy that I found this channel!
Thanks so much my friend!! That means so much :)
This is incredible. Great channel for recording/production outside of my typical beat-making zone. I've collected some real things like bass guitar. bongos, mics, etc I am an infant recordist but this is so inspiring. Peace & Blessings! 🕊✨
Just fantastic!
Thank you so much!
Dude! Had chills in this video... your story was insane. Heart goes out to you, but also well done on another amazing video! :D
Appreciate that my friend :) this one was a ton of work so glad you enjoyed!
Thank you man :) I'm sorry to hear about your losses as well, hope everything is getting better for you both!
Amazing video as always
Thanks Nate!
@@AudioHaze the thanks goes to you, my guy 🤝
Man, I wanted this so much, you have no ideia. I Fkn love how hozier sounds always and wanted to be abled to reproduce it by myself. Thank you so much for this video
Yeah glad I could help in some small way! Happy recording :)
This is amazing! More of this!
Coming right up!!
Your channel is INSANELY amazing
Love the effort. The production, right down to the editing of the video itself was amazing, these videos have come a long way since your switch from gear reviews, I'm excited to see what else you have planned!
Thanks Dave! Yeah I'm really trying to make video essays that take ya out of the DAW a little, glad you like the editing!
oh my god I just dicovered your chanel this week and I have to say I'm obsessed with these series!!!! you are so talented and you seem to get so deeply immersed on whatever you do, it's super inspiring to watch you and it brings me just so much joy... not sure if you take recommendations but, if you so I would be thrilled to see one of these about Fiona Apple, she has a super unique sound and I've never heard anything quite like her sound, idk why but I just feel like you would work so interestingly with it; (Sorry if the wording in this comment doesn't make much sense, I'm not a native english speaker.........) Thank you for making such quality content, I really apreciate it!
I can't thank you enough for these videos! One of the best resources available to me to keep getting better at what I love to do. Probably a whole generation is getting better at making music from watching these videos! You should be proud :)
Not a single "how to sound like" channel compares to yours. Truly top quality work! Would selfishly love a "sound like Alvvays" video if you're keen!
Would love to see that in depth video you were talking about, amazing content!! Unbelievable sound and visuals, can’t wait for you to blow up
Parallel compression/overarching ideas video sounds TREMENDOUS!
Your authenticity and talent is a breath of fresh air. Please, keep it going!
Thanks so much my friend!! Always hard to be vulnerable on the internet so it’s not lost on me, thank you
