This is a great interview. It's nice hearing Ross open up more and more about what happened with his firing. Manowar really could have been one of those great 80's metal bands but Joey Demaio was just not of sound mind enough to understand that firing Ross was not just firing a guitar player. He was firing a songwriter.
He raises a great point about how they really should have been playing 200 shows a year by the time of Kings of Metal. I suspect Joey already thought they were at Maiden/Priest level at that point (and thinking about it now, Priest were probably still playing

Great point about Manowar not doing enough shows back in the day. Joey had to take that "the whole world is against us" trope to a ridiculous extreme.

No one outstanding knows, what happens in a relationship, that´s true.
But to fire a friend AFTER creating one of the greatest metal-albums ever together, is, simple said, not the way of "True-Metal-Brothers" !
And - sorry Joey - your wrong decision shows up clearly by "The Triumph Of Steel", which was really poor.
What have could become of this band with Ross furthermore on their side - and above all - HOW MANY MORE Albums would exist ?!
´Cause everbody knows the ridiculous intervalls of their later albums, despite of the poor lyrics and music, which have nothin´ in common with the first five masterpieces !

There’s some amazing stuff on triumph of steel and some total bollocks as well..for me it’s all downhill after gods of war..people don’t like the narration on it but it’s telling a story..bit like Nostradamus by Judas Priest..manowar went downhill after that..
