The story of Peter being instructed on how to fish by Jesus is so beautiful. I can totally see it going down exactly as Mr Sproul described it here.
Peter's response is just so perfect. He could not stand to be in the presence of such holiness in his sinful state.
I think I sometimes dismiss those parts of the stories in order to focus on what Jesus did. It's important to know the Lord's actions. But it's also very meaningful to know the actions of the mere mortals who knew him. Peter meant it, I think. He wasn't just being pius. How often do I feel unworthy to be in the Lord's presence? But Jesus told Peter do not be afraid. Then he gave him a new job - Fisher of men.

Disciples terrified st sea - Master, do something or we perish. Jesus addresses the sea- the sea obeyed, the wind obeyed. The disciples witnessed and became more fearful. This, the fear of Holy. What manner of man is this? Humans so closed, fearful of being trampled, vulnerable. The disciples were, He is so other, never categorized -fear - we are in the presence of Holy. Peter was so fearful, he asked Jesus to depart from him because Jesus knew where all the fish were. Sinners would do well in the presence of Jesus for they have no preconceived notions of righteousness. Remember, no matter with Jesus we are welcomed, love, peace is for you, I am peace unto you. Learn this, it is Truth. To be a Christian is to be forgiven. None are righteous. Settle this now and forever. Praise The Lord. Amen This will stay with me forever. Teach me Dr. Sproul - I still needed to hear this. You are still preaching and teaching Dr. Sproul, ♥️✝️⭕️❌☮️

Calvinists, who deny that salvation can ever be lost, reason on the subject in a marvellous way. They tell us that no virgin's lamp can go out; no promising harvest be choked with thorns; no branch in Christ can ever be cut off due to unfruitfulness; no pardon can ever be forfeited, and no name blotted out of God's book! They insist that no salt can lose it's savour; nobody can ever "receive the grace of God in vain", "bury his talents", "neglect such a great salvation", trifle away"a day of grace", "look back" after putting his hand to the Gospel plow. Nobody can "grieve the Holy Spirit" till He is "quenched", and strives no more, nor"deny the Lord that bought them", nor "bring upon themselves a swift destruction". Nobody, or body of believers, can ever get so lukewarm that Jesus will "vomit them out".
They use reams of paper to argue that if one ever got lost he was never found. John 17:12, that if he falls, he never stood. Rom. 11:16-22 and Hebrews 6:4-6; if one was ever "cast out", he was never in and if one "withered" he was never green. John 15:1-6 and that if any man "draws back" he had never had anything to draw back from. Hebrews 10:38,39 that if one ever"falls away into spiritual darkness", he was never enlightened. Hebr. 6:4-6 that if you "put salvation away", you never had it to put it away, and if you made "shipwreck of faith", there was no ship of faith there! May God save us from accepting a doctrine that must be defended by such fallacious reasoning! John Wesley

      @LOT116 4 роки тому +12

@@middlecrossranch3977 The answet to that is really pretty easy: the perseverence... - there are many, many of those who believe but only for their own reasons, only for their own gain. They go to church. They profess with their lips. They are hypocrites.
      No true believers.
      Goats no sheep.
      Sheep cannot become a goat.
If a man is in God's hands - no one and nothing can snatch him out of them. This is God's promise.
"If they went from us they were never of us". Simple.

    • @judithmargret5972

      John Wesley knows better now.
Of all the things he's now praising God for, He's sovereignty in salvation would be right at the top, because if God didn't keep us we would have all fallen away by now.

NEVER FORGET: Religious faith (in the Hebrews 11:1 context, not the context of trust based on prior knowledge) is not and logically CANNOT be a reliable tool/mechanism for discerning what is true from what is not true. Any person who claims to honestly, objectively care about truth MUST discard faith from the outset for this very reason.

Do you want to know the truth about holiness?
Prophecy foretold the Lord God will destroy the world for being unholy. Unholy means sins, unclean, defiled, and uncircumcised in heart. The Lord God built the country Israel to teach the world holy life. He sent the Law of Moses to teach the children of Israel about living holy life by obeying the laws and commandments of God. He sent His Son the Lord Jesus to teach them on how a man must live holy life by following the way of life of the Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus celebrated the Passover and all the holy feasts that are written in the Law of Moses. Now, religions as christian is perverting the teaching of the words of God. They are teaching that the Law of Moses is no longer required because they are free from it. The teaching of the Law of Moses came from the mouth of God, it is the foundation of the ways, righteousness and holiness of God. If you do not want to be in hell, do everything you can while you still have time to repent by obeying what the Lord God commanded everyone since the beginning of time, and that is living holy life founded in the Law of Moses, teachings of the Prophets, and in the Testimony of the Lord Jesus.
    Isaiah 5:24
Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel
    Jeremiah 6:19
Hear, O earth! Behold, I will certainly bring calamity on this people- The fruit of their thoughts, Because they have not heeded My words Nor My law, but rejected it.
    Luke 16:31
But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.
    Romans 3:31
Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.
    The Spirit and the bride,
    Mount Zion,
    Heavenly Jerusalem,
    Gabriel Riah

For serious study, R.C. SPROUL is the most accurate expositor. Doctrine is not something that is ever changing, or is progressive. Doctrine has been the exact arguments that Jesus and Paul presented in scripture, along with the other writers. Doctrine is biblical hermeneutical interpretation, and most people have no clue on what hermeneutics are. R.C. SPROUL is the best expositor and commentator on the Holy Bible. Read James 3:1.
