- here a few reasons why I needed a break from the city life and left working in the union to start subcontracting again and instantly regretted it...

Glad your back. I’m from California in between Sacramento and San Francisco. When I got the opportunity to do drywall I had no clue what I was doing and I remember finding your videos on your residential work with your old crew. Been doing it ever since for about 5 years now. Your the reason I went Milwaukee and occidental. Thanks to your old videos I kept on pushing. I was able to buy a house and take care of my wife and 3 kids. Something I probably wouldn’t have been able to do if I kept working at just warehouses.
Wow
I'm 19 years old and been doing drywall for 1 year I would like to talk to someday just to know more about your story
@@imanocayetano1783 my story or James story. I’m sure James has a good one. The only I can tell you is I wish I would have started at 19. I started at like 28 and wish someone would have talked to me when I was 19.
Local 9109 represent 🙌
Hi James, I'm looking forward to the upcoming drywall video as are many 👍
Have you thought about running a separate channel for the soap stuff? I would recommend that you call it James Showers, it's a clean name after all👊
I have thought about it. Would probably be better for UA-cam.
Not sure when but ill set one up at some point
James is a man for the people! Gives us what we want!
Good to see yr back to yrs roots jamie.. good luck n peace to u and yr missus x
I hear ya brother I left working for an employer and am currently starting my own remodeling company. The money is tight right now but it will be worth it in the long run!
I'll never regret leaving the union in Las Vegas in favor framing.. I wanted to frame..
Freedom is free . Commercial is yes man work sorry boys . Don't mean no harm buy freedom is freedom
Bro, we need to talk. I'm in that very same union and might be suing them, I would like your story and possibly your testimony.
Send me a message either in FB or email. Should have kinks in the description
It's all about what's best for you and your family.
I am looking forward to more boot videos, and am curious on your thoughts of Wesco (West Coast Shoe Company).
I love mine!
Just saw this video after watching the recent drywall work videos you posted. Now it all makes sense. I originally stumbled on your channel when I was shopping for Nick's and Frank's work boots. Those were great videos btw. I know there's only so many videos you can create on PNW logger/work boots. The soap stuff, hehehe not so much. But if it makes yall some geeters go for it.
I'm now gonna be able to watch your upcoming drywall videos with the context of what happened. In another life I used to be a residential framing and cornice carpenter in Houston, TX and then Jacksonville and Orlando, FL. I guess because of those memories and comparing to "modern" residential construction methods is why I enjoy watching. Blah, blah, blah. Peace!
I live in the country but work union drywall in the Omaha area…. Lots of work and within an hour from where I live so I kinda have the better of two worlds… so I completely understand what you guys are feeling now! Glad your making the choices for yourselves to be happy though… u can make money anywhere
If at all possible, follow your heart and pursue your dreams. I'm basically an independent contractor and only take jobs I enjoy and I decide who I like to work with and for. Ok, I'm single so I don't have to support a family, etc. People tell me I could be making more money - but they also tell me that I look younger than my real age and I don't need to spend money on therapy, etc. Do your thing, James. You only have one life and it looks like you're doing great in many ways.
Work truck video next brah
Much nicer area, just my opinion.
I haven't had the same exact situation because I have been in retail most of my life but I was in management money wasn't bad but it was long hours not including the close to 3 hours drive I did round trip daily so I hardly ever seen my family We had a bunch of stuff happen in the family and I ended up stepping down and going to a store closer to me Its hard getting use to making less but I get to spend alot more time with my wife and kids
Union work is good...for someone young with little or no life experience.
Chicago old timers in the union say that the union way of work is a two edge sword
It provides a great way to make a living...
...but it's also a dream killer.
Like when someone has a job that pays them salary.
Once a pice worker always a pice worker
I have never worked a union job, but have worked along side union workers. But one thing i will say after being self employed for over 15 years. Yes the money has been tight at times. But you do have more freedoms in how you work. Like i can work outside on nice days, inside on stormy days. You can also work when your most productive. Like if your an early bird get your work done early. If your more productive in the evenings do the heavy work then.
That’s the problem I love the union and making this money but I’d also like to get out of the city .
Come to Cali ☀️
Hey James. I’m trying to collect stickers from locals around the country. Was wondering if you had some extras
Cant you just transfer your local ? #union proud
Are you close to the tri cities?
Im in north Idaho but only around 3 hours from the tri cities
@@NomadicINK damn. I know a couple of guys that live in Idaho, but work in Washington. You get the best of both worlds.
Who "banned" you from doing videos and what were the reasons. Because they are now promoting people on the job doing videos.
That's crazy . Anning Johnson wrote me up for making videos. It was the company that banned me from making the videos not the union.
