Enjoy this madness! This was my reaction when I saw this on the livestream - clips.twitch.tv/FuriousAwkwardWeaselM4xHeh?tt_medium=clips_api&tt_content=url
13:50 You just have to get more use to Streaming, is all. Look at some professional Streamers, like for Brood War and SC2 and LoL. They've been doing it so often and for so long it doesn't affect them at all anymore. :D
Reflection nothing. Map is resourceless, featureless, and players start with no vills or town center. Last to not quit from an existential crisis wins. Extra points for surviving past the heat death of the universe.
That sounds interesting, but it should be tweaked a bit to make it more balanced. If you namely haven't any trees nearby, you can never go up to the Feudal Age and build a Market. Hence, everyone should have at least some trees nearby.
gunjeet singh This has actually happened to me before. It was on Everything Extreme v3. It was nothing but our TCs, vils and Scouts. Not a single resource.
I really hope there are more of these nothing maps! I used to play AOM all the time so having aoe2 vids come up in my recommended is getting me back in the groove! Nice channel t90!
So, I discovered this channel less than a week ago (probably through some youtube algorithm, if so, congrats!), and watched a couple videos. I am surprised this many people still play this game. I haven't played it in over 15 years, but the memories will last forever. You seem like a genuinely good person who enjoys what he does. I think I'll stick around for awhile and sub it up. Maybe I'll buy this game again just for fun in the future. It's definitely been through my mind this past year.
everything nothing - berries, trees, gold, and stone take up every space on the map, in roughly equal proportion fish nothing - winding rivers/marshes bursting with fish, some trees actually nothing - there isn't anything on the map
Orange could have crushed yellow and grey had he just gone bombard cannons, hand cannoneers, and jannissaries. Like just delete your vils man, at this point you don’t need them. 100 bombard cannons and 150 hand cannoneers would have wiped the floor with everything any one else was making.
marvs trashtalk was just great. the moment he hyped himself was hilarious " what does the eagle say to the onager...badaboom" kinda mixed the sides there but i had to laugh so hard xD please more games with him^^
We played in middle school at an after school program where we would go and get tutored help with homework for an hour and then we would play “AOE 2 The conquerors expansion” for two hours every day and then on Friday we would have local LAN games with the other middle school in town and it was probably the most fond memory I have of school lol. Either way I need to buy a pc and start playing this again! Let me know if there is any way to do LAN games with other subs on here!
Know what popular game has an unusually nice community? Binding of Isaac. Older players never hassle or condescend to new players. Because we remember the pain. The loss. failing over and over an not knowing why, or how to fix it. Its a game where you get better throgh breakthroughs - one where the pieces just come together mentally seemingly at random and you start doing a lot better. AoE2 is like that. I think a game that causes that sort of pain to new players ends up with the best communities.
I played against 7 Aztec AIs, on the hardest level, allied with each other, as Brits, and won, eventually. I did revert from saves often. It was a learning experience. The only way I was able to win is, I was able to collect all the relics and hold them (victory was set to Conquest) and slowly was able to produce units and attack, until they ran out of money. I also of course blocked their trade routes, and was able to capture a couple of their markets to trade with. My point is, towards the end of the game, monks were absolutely the cheapest unit to produce, because everything else required using huge amounts of gold to purchase wood or food.
Just got to love your streams. You and your community are always coming up with new (dumb) ideas to make this game interesting. Keep up the good work T90!
lol, its funny to me that forest nothing maps exist in a competitive level. when i was young i liked messing with the map editor, i remember making a forest nothing map by mistake, and liked it so much i saved it as "Cool Mistake".
Why do they create nothing maps that aren't truly "nothing" - on relic nothing they gave you a market and monastery, yet for some reason gave you trees too. On this they gave you a shit-ton of trees, but they could have just given you a market and then literally gold nothing. I don't understand why we're muddying the concept with trees! Empty space could be used instead of trees if the idea is to make something easier to get through than piles of gold, or else have thin lines of gold inbetween..
Yeah, starting with a market and having the entire map be covered with piles of 50-100 gold would make for an interesting concept, albeit a bit slower.
I think giving Britons a try here would be fun. Wood and gold for their longbow with insane range. And trebs can do splash damage for those choke points.
GalleyRaidJepsen made a gold nothing with only gold a while back, I think you start at feudal with standard resources and you have to build a market or gg, but other than that was crazy.
If anyone ever tells you that off-meta strategies aren't viable, just say 'Portuguese Bombard Cannons'. They might not understand, but we all know what that means. Also, 28:04: You definitely don't want to fistfight Spirit of the Law. His melee attacks are 25% faster.
Favourite Civ? Slavs First, Byzantines Second. Slavs for an overal great civ with the best infantry, cheapest siege, pretty good if not great calvary, a great farm bonus, and some minor additions like military buildings giving pop being really great for saving time and in the early game wood for more farms. Byzantines, best trash, Cataphracts and Monk civ is great, use Cataphracts against Infantry and Siege, use trash for Calvary and Archers, Monks being good as way to deal with Gold Units. Saves time and food/gold for Imperial Age Upgrades, Buildings are durable so it make defensive/counter civilization. I don't like water maps, but if there is I do enjoy using Fire Ships the most, so Byzantines with their Fire Ship bonus, top notch. Other Civs hard to say. Use to like Teutons as a kid, but I generally liked them for the cheaper farms, Teutonic Knights, and Monks. Don't like how weak their Scout Line is. Also a good defensive civilization. I would like Celts if they were not just specialized in a Siege/Infantry tier, prefer to have the main army be calv or infantry with siege support, so it is the reason why I prefer Slavs. Japanese have also one of the best Infantry, but they otherwise focus on Water and Trebuchets, which Trebuchets are only one unit.
I liked the Inca pick. Ten pop for houses helps in the early game, and on gold nothing eagles are basically trash units. I was rooting for Kiwimulletboy, and he did not disappoint.
0:28 Actually would a pure Gold Nothing even be possible? Could you tech to Feudal and then get a Market without any extra wood? You might have to give them a starting Market, like in Relic Nothing.
really want to see a "sheep nothing" that's just a thin layer of trees on the outer map perimeter and just dozens upon dozens upon dozens of sheep and a few wolves scattered across a field
Now we need stone nothing, where castles are the cheapest building to get. Also boar nothing in a king of the hill, and the monument is protected by a massive swarm of iron boars.
Wait. Why choose Malay here? You can't take advantage of the quick uptime because it will take forever to cut through the wood and mine the gold. Plus, Forced Levy shines when there's limited gold in the map.
Hm... Okay. How about Gold Nothing, but actual only gold, start with a Market... and 256x tech. That way, you actually can dig through the gold at acceptable speed to make up for the lack of everything else, and tbh, I don't consider the fact that everyone goes for Siege Onager out of necessity to be a positive.
All about the Benjamins. Also, can Elephant nothing be next? Also, fish nothing could be fun (start everyone in Fuedal with 1k wood and a modestly sized island of there own, but map is 90% water completely covered by fish).
Really interesting game. I've never seen an AOE game like this, but in future videos could you record in higher bit rate? I notice that the picture becomes blurry when you move the camera around. Higher bit rate would solve that. Thanks
How about a everything everything map? since this one is already kinda halfway there anyways. Also a great idea would be to do one of the nothing maps with aegis cheat on (like Resonance22 did for some of his ffa).
I like most the Magyars, cause, im one of them. Its funny that there are Huns and Magyars too in AoE2, cause, huns are the origin of Hungarians, and Hungarians are "Magyars" in hungarian language.

t90, why always so quiet
I cant find this map on steam workshop
T90 I'm so happy I finally trolled a reply out of you on one of your vids. #mancrushthursday

Nothing.
Concept: uneven nothing. Each forth of the map is dedicated to a different resource and you don't know in advance which you're going to get.

Ooh, I like this a lot!!
That sounds interesting, but it should be tweaked a bit to make it more balanced. If you namely haven't any trees nearby, you can never go up to the Feudal Age and build a Market. Hence, everyone should have at least some trees nearby.
Absolutely. It should be like this one was where there's at least a layer of forest surrounding the TC's and connecting them to the middle.
nessesaryschoolthing
There's a new Nothing map out that does exactly that! :)
there is a map on hd kinda like that but its nomads and you have one village in each quadrant
AoE2 community please create a FOG NOTHING map. Map starts explored, but units have no line of sight, only buildings.

gunjeet singh This has actually happened to me before. It was on Everything Extreme v3. It was nothing but our TCs, vils and Scouts. Not a single resource.
Nothing but Economy. 1 market, 1 cart.
Can't wait for stone nothing, TOWER RUSHES HERE WE COME
*Korean heavy breathing*
Nothing Nothing already exists in the form of a wonderful map called Lustful Encounters.
"rushes"

The meta would be, would you rather faster build towers+castles or slower build civ with bombard cannon?

Need one with all resources homogenically distributed on the entire map. No clusters of anything.
Entrophy nothing
it would be a nightmare to micro your vils to gather from that. I'd love to see it :D
And onagers are useless for creating paths due to all the non-tree resources. It will take ages.

Like just delete your vils man, at this point you don’t need them. 100 bombard cannons and 150 hand cannoneers would have wiped the floor with everything any one else was making.
Probably muslce memory for them. They're so used to having vils that they just have them by default, even when they're no longer needed.
