Here's an idea for another nothing map, what if you had a map called "Idle Nothing." On this map you have to make sure your units are moving around or doing something at all times. If you don't, they will slowly take damage over time and even die if you ignore them for too long. That way, T90 can point and laugh as players accidentally let their vills perish by ignoring idles for too long.
that would be boring rather fast, people would just patrol or just watch their idles faster, unless the idles as the game goes on take more and more dmg. ? like the dmg increases
alternative idle nothing: units who are standing around doing nothing generate resources. Vills generate food, barracks/stable units generate gold, Archery range units generate wood, monks and castle units generate stone. moving, building or attacking means not generating resources.

What about a tourney where the rules or mechanics of how the scenario works is hidden? Players must figure it out how it works. Maybe every level of the bracket a new mechanic comes into effect or a whole new map. Like in one round you could make the vision of the TC only see forest. The players think they are in forest nothing. But once they explore a bit they see there is something beyond their forest. That would be cool as we see the meta develop on real-time. Challenge is coming up with all the new ideas.
"Welcome to Delete Nothing: a map with LITERALLY nothing but TC, 3 Vilagers, and a Scout" Me: Sees an HOUR AND A HALF of video left. "You have my curiosity, good sir"
Spanish Bombard Towers seem to be the clear answer. The main bottleneck is building stuff to delete so 30% build speed would be a powerful resource bonus. Bombard towers in the corner of the map has always been the optimum static defense. Normally you lose map control but here there's *nothing* to lose. If you're just racing to build/delete more then eventually you should have more resources.
I gotta think that you got to invest APM into lumber camps. Each lumber camp takes 35 seconds to make. Each gives 50 resources. In a minute each villager puts 60 seconds of building time into two houses (70 seconds of production required) that will produce 100 resources. So each villager can theoretically make 60/70*100 = 85 wood per minute. Even at 80% efficiency thats about 70 resources per minute. That is nuts. The average villager makes 20-30 resources per minute on other resources. Spending some times, especially in feudal with a market just microing wood production seems really strong. Go to food when the market prices make it worth it to go sheep or when you need to spend APM else where. Invest in a group of lumber camps you don't delete to be your reserve incase you need a burst or spend too much and cant build more lumber camps. Spanish 30% increase in build speed makes the lumber camp production a lot faster. Rushing feudal seems strong too, so maybe Britons for food off sheep? Or Khmer to skip the buildings? Or huns to keep more vils on food to skip houses?
Yeah, I thought Spanish as soon as I saw this. 30% increased build speed, that means that 35 seconds is reduced to 25 seconds. So that means that a villager can construct 2 lumber camps per minute roughly, so that means theoretically that they can make 120 wood per minute maximum, however that's disregarding the need to move around, so 110ish wood and roughly 9 stone per minute per villager then. So you could easily get a few 100 wood per second if you try hard enough.
Deleting the lumber camp should give you forest tiles instead. That would make it difficult to attack and raid, as a smart player might surround his base with forest, though, but I'm sure people could think of a way to minimize that.
If you look at the starting TC locations for each other players, after about 15 min in I had a pretty good idea who was favorite to win the whole match. Too much tension in middle of map. But there were enough ups and downs to definitely keep things interesting.
Someone should be making a "normal" map *WOLOLO* where: - Lumber camps functions as farms - Farms functions as mining camps/deposits - Mining camps functions as lumber camps - Barracks builds mounted units - Stables produce ranged units - Archery range produce infantry *WOLOLO* - Castles produce monks and can't shoot - Temples *WOLOLO* produce special units and can shoot - Siege workshop produce boats - Dockyards produce siege units - University gives military upgrades - Armory gives structure upgrades - Towers give pop cap but can't shoot - Houses don't give pop cap but can shoot Obviously it *WOLOLO* would be best if the function was changed, and not the skin, so the keybidings for each player will remain the same (and function for keybinding related building is changed). I guess it would make more sense if the deleted lumbercamp turns into actual trees (or forest) which you can chop, instead of a building foundation which you can get refunded.
Imagine if there is a 'kill nothing' scenario, where killing something will turn it into another unit via devolving them. The map is filled with random numbers of wild animals. Villagers dying turns into a sheep. Wild animals dying turns into tree/stone/gold. Destroyed structures turns into a lower age version. Dark age structures will not turn into anything and is erased on death. When you create soldiers, and they get killed, they respawn as a lower level class until they hit their lowest and will die permanently. This does mean that it will be very tough to destroy Imperial age structures that are walled off as they are immediately replaced with another structure.

Here's an idea for a map: Create a map with way fewer resources than normal, with no water, no relics, and ban feitorias, so that there's no possible way to get unlimited resources with any civ. See how people play with really tight constraints on every resource. For example: only a couple starting sheep, no boars, only a few deer scattered far from the starting TCs, only straggler trees (no proper woodlines), gold and stone piles are single tiles only, etc.
