Here's an old MTV concert taped onto Betamax in 1985. I don't see this one on UA-cam or anywhere else online, so I figured I'd upload it for anyone interested, though all the usual disclaimers apply- I don't own this video, or the rights to it, yadda yadda yadda. If anyone who does own the rights to it wants it taken down, just let me know!

I was there at this concert. Growing up on Long Island, I listened to WLIR when they changed their format to "New Wave", "Dare to be Different", etc. Blancmange was one of those bands they played a lot and I couldn't get enough. When they played NYC, I had to go. I was not sorry! It was a great show! Great band.
Freaking awesome!!! I was pining away for bands like this to hear and see not too far away in Philadelphia!
I too grew up on LI with LIR. I saw Living on the Ceiling on MTV in '82 and was wondering where I could hear that type of music. I saw a bumper sticker for WLIR New Music. Tuned into 92.7 and Living on the Ceiling was the first full song I heard!
WLIR….Dare to be different. Good times.
Cancun in Hicksville has WLIR nights. New Dance party! Spread the word!
BY far one of the least mentioned bands when folks speak about synth greats. Such innovative sounds and always energetic. I wish I could see them even now in 2020.
I've seen them last week in Edinburgh for the first time ever, and they were incredible.
They're still gigging in 2023
Saw Neil and band in Kildare Ireland a week ago literally. So many 80s bands so he couldn't do the full works as time limited. Said it was nice to be back in Europe. Sure was and he was fantastic!
You lucky!
What a performance !! absolute genius on stage , amazing performer and singer, only if we could roll the years back when they were at their peak
Tony Hart comment on Noel Edmond's Swap Shop programme on BBC-1 after seeing Blancmange Blind Vision video,"I like the graphics ! ! !" 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah ::::::: That´s it !!! "Blancmange" Best Band in the History of the good old 80´s !!!!
How were these guys not on Live Aid that year. They were still big at that time.
These guys were so awesome. They were always on my top 10 list. I would have paid top dollar to have seen this back in the day. Thanks so much for posting!!!
I was there and it was great ,but Blancmange now are even better .Neil is a true legend.
No list?.OK.Happy to oblige...

amazing!!! had this tour on cassette but never saw it - thanks for posting this
'What's Your Problem' is the pure and distilled Blancmange sound for me lol! :)
I love Blancmange! Thanks so much for uploading this gem! MTV really was better 32 years ago!
Wow! Thanks for this!
When I was a teenager, new wave was my favorite music and Blancmange was one of my favorite bands. MTV played this concert late at night, but I stayed up and recorded it onto VHS. I had that tape and played it for several years. But it's been decades. I suddenly thought of it and, on a whim, searched UA-cam, and voila! THANKS.
It's so fun to re-experience these CHEESY 80s video effects. As each one came on the screen, I'd get that "OMG I had totally forgotten about this, but now it's all rushing back" feeling. I enjoy that feeling 😁
Bloody amazing. That's all I can say.
Great show...good to see David Rhodes on guitar
This was great!
Ah..The Ritz ... I was there for the WLIR Non-Con Formal Ball 1986. Crazy shit went down that night. Damn I miss the 80’s 😫
And it's a way harder sound than I thought--absolutely adore!
Non Live Aid acts were cast out of fashion in 1985, no matter how good they were.
Fantastic band. Incredibly unique sound. Thxu so much for the upload!! Real gem ❤
A synth band that's amazing live, who knew?
underrated.
excellent effort and good sound, well done and Blancmange live seems rare, especially early days
Absolutely tremendous.
O.M.G. THIS IS FUCKING BRILLIANT!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING.
game above my head at 13:40 really holds up nicely.
I *wish* Blancmange would play *NYC* again at Webster Hall (formerly 'the Ritz') or anywhere else. Come back!
Well Neil has made 4 new albums in the last 5 years including not a priority that's just come this week, maybe they will one day
Thanks for uploading! I still have this on an old VHS somewhere but I think it's missing a song somewhere, maybe Kind? Such a great performance and David Rhodes on guitar...legend!
Lose your love is my new favorite..Always loved Blind Vision What's your problem & living on the ceiling.
AMAZING ALL their songs sound great here!
Game Above My Head!
Time Became the Tide
Thanks for uploading - one of the little sung great bands.
it is also apparent especially in this version how close blind vision is to talking heads
30+ years ago, and SO much more fun than a lot of current bands.
Holy crap, I was there.
Seriously?! Awesome!! I'm well jealous!! 👍🙂💓
Me too !!!!
you can tell the betamax was totally fine before those 'vintage' tape fx were applied!
Grupo muy interesante y sobre todo, bastante bueno en vivo..genial escuchar Living on the ceiling
I was there with club friends from Danceteria, Bonds, Pyramid, and The Mudd Club. Great night
Thank you so much for posting this. Feel me is a Hara kind of song.
Blind vision - fantastic
Hooray!!

1 of all time ⏲️ favourite bands
Wow, thank you for uploading this peahix
Wow, what a great show. I could have gone; damn, I missed it. Saw so many at The Ritz: Go-Gos, Tina Turner, Oingo Boingo, Lene Lovich to name a few. In fact, the first time I ever saw the Living on the Ceiling video was while sluicing around the dancefloor there one night, under that giant disco ball....
Not bad quality considering Betamax.
thank you for sharing.
Audio Quality Super Nice For Its Age
Underrated.
Absolutely Fabulous! Thanks for the trip back.
Great voice
This is fucking great!
Where's Pandit Dinesh On The Tabla's ? ? ? 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
seeing them live on Saturday!!
thanks for uploading . very good!
Great animation. Wish there was today
El cantante me recuerda a Ian Curtis. Saludos desde Argentina!!!
Great footage, cheers
Awesome!!! to bad the video is damage!!!
And that's why I thought I could become a pop star too, and I mean that in the best possible way.
I remember this being on tv and wondering who's the blonde guy with the turkey neck? Love ya Stephen!
Very good concert!
forgot to mention, that's not Vincent Clarke, its Stephen Luscombe.
Betamax?! Fantastic.
killer
blind vision is fabulous
Cool rare
mercy
Where's The T.A.R.D.I.S. ? ? ? 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
someone fix the tracking LOL
Why no live version of Time Became The Tide anywhere?
This is great! Can I get a DVD copy from you at all?
Thanks very much for this video! I love new wave and music 80s. One question. This video is really so noisy? Or used special filters? I have many tapes VHS format. Not one a tapes haven't so noises. Their age is over 25 years.
Brilliant
Vincent Clarke is a wonderment to music not only is he in sync with his rhythm but his voice is so sultry with beautiful lyrics.I love this band.
Vince Clarke wasn't in Blancmange. It's Stephen Luscombe, they just happen to both be balding and play synths.
sexy
Is that Vince Clark on keyboards?
No, Steve Luscombe
The Ritz...but which one?
Great Concert but why the change at that time the great Pandit Dinesh, and use a boring drummer!! 🤷
Blancmange would have gone further if the lead singer could have danced better like DAVE GAHAN !!!!!!!!!!! Scientific fact...
