- The Artist Series Season 3 is under way! Join me on a behind the scenes look at Clyde Butcher. Often called the Ansel Adams of the Everglades, Clyde Butcher has developed a unique approach to large format photography native to the Florida Everglades. I'm spending the week with Clyde to film the first video for the next season of the Artist Series - its going to be a good one!

My name is Ted Forbes and I make videos about photography. I’ve been making photographs most of my life and I have a tremendously deep passion for photography that I want to share with you on UA-cam.

Clyde Butcher is awesome... I had all of my photography gear stolen a few years back... digital and Large Format both, I contacted several well know photographers for suggestions on what to do and where I should start all over again with the Large Format gear... He was the only one that got back with me and was helpful... not by a simple email... He called and left his number for me to get back with him... even cooler than that... He answered and gave great advice... I have been to two of his galleries and they both rock... He is Great his family is great and gallery family is just as great...

Do you think there's any chance of a full-on "Artist Series" video with Ralph Gibson at some point? The videos you've done on and with him to this point got me interested in him, and he's now my all-time favorite photographer. Would love to see more if you're still in contact with him or Thierry.

Loved the introduction! The Sunshine Skyway Bridge is my favorite drive when in Sarasota, Tampa and when we drive to Saint Petersburg!
Saint Petersburg is a very nice town to walk and photograph the architecture. Also there is an E-6 process lab called Zebra Color that does my work!

LOL - your comments about the weather cracked me up! Welcome to our world...if you hate the weather wait 10 minutes and it will change! Clyde is a true hero. He documents like no one else the beauty of our treasured Everglades. He shows it is a lot more than "that big swamp" in South Florida. With the government infringing on so many of our natural habitats, it is work like Clyde's that help to push for preservation of the magnificent flora and fauna for future generations. He is a more than a photographer - he is a brilliant example of artist as conservationist. His work is important on many levels. Great choice, Ted and I am sure a lot more enjoyable to work with than that sports photographer you featured last time!

Clyde Butcher is one of the big inspirations for my photography obsession. I have met him a few times and been to his Venice and Sarasota galleries. I live in Port Charlotte, FL so I know all those places you have been in this video really well. Love to see you where I am familiar. Can't wait to see your Clyde Butcher video when fully edited!

I really hope you eventually post this. The artist series videos are by far your best work. I'm sure your recent videos hold interest for some, but I feel that your artist series videos will outlast all the rest and will stand the test of time (I've lost count of the number of times I've watched the Keith Carter video). I would be overjoyed if I were to eventually be able to watch this installment of the artist series.
Clyde is a superb human being. He is super kind. I have been writing for years that you and he should do something - particularly since you have both been large format photographers. There is nothing like standing in front of several of Clyde's eight-foot prints. They are so immersive. Looks like you enjoyed your time in FL.

Dude, you are pulling out all the stops this series. Clyde is an amazing gentleman with a wonderful life story and a body of work that is unbelievable. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of this. Having driven up from Ft. Myers many times while visiting my daughter and the ex-wife, I agree about the bridge being very cool.

I once watched a film about Clyde Butcher and he had his wife carrying all his gear for him through the Everglades, snakes and all. An amazing darkroom printer, a true craftsman. Really looking forward to the interview, he comes across as the sort of guy you just want to hang out with and talk photography.

Ted, I love ya, but come on! This was uploaded on 6/23, that's almost 6 months ago. You tell us that season three of the artists series is upon us and then nothing. OK, not nothing, 5 months of camera reviews. REALLY! We can get that literally anywhere else. PLEASE don’t get me wrong; I love you, I love your channel, but remember that you called your channel the “ART” of photography.

Disappointing video. Clyde Butcher is inspiring, his photos are amazing, and this video was about riding around in a car.
it says in the description that this is a behind the scenes look and that he'll be in the next season of artist series. This is just a cool vlog style video from Ted, I think. I love this style of video because he does such great work with his series and its cool to see what goes into it!
