    Bummer about the camera. Its crazy how fast the tide rolls in on those big exchanges. Invest in good roll top dry bag!

      thanks Tyler! good pro tip. this one was totally my fault. I actually brought a freezer bag to put the camera in while I was in the water. But I didn't seal it! Ahhhh!

    I have been watching your channel for years and I am never disappointed. Great work.
    I go diving solo like you did only because no one i know has the gear. Just watch the currents and tides. If you ever need a dive partner I'm in.

      thanks! I super appreciate it, and might take you up on that! I definitely need to get a diving buddy or three. Would feel way safer!

    Love your videos! Yeah we went to Dosewallips on Sunday for the first time in hope of finding geoducks but like you said, nothing! And most of the people we met on the beach got nothing either. Nice manilla clams though so that's good. Have you ever been to Duckabush area? Would that beach be better for geoducks?

    • @WAFishQuest
      @WAFishQuest  3 роки тому +1

      hi Vivian! thanks so much! It is a bummer. Dosewallips even 4 years ago was much better. I have done Duckabush a couple times, but all I've gotten there is horse clams. Some are gigantic! Worth a shot though, I definitely could have missed the geoducks.

    All caught up. Thanks for the shoutout man! I love swimming with all those herring and miscellaneous bait fish. Happy to see you got out! Sorry about you camera man that's a drag. I bought a drone almost a year ago now and have yet to fly it. I'm scared it will too, meet it's watery grave haha.

      well, at least aquatic monkey would get a drone recovery video out of it. :D Thanks for watching as always!! I need to get on o' them selfie sticks for when I dive.

    So you did make it! So much for your friends birthday ;) I went for geoducks. It sucked. Only know of a few found. Lesson learned on my part.

      for some reason I thought you were going Friday, July 23. That's when my buddy's birthday was anyway. This is Saturday. At any rate, if I got that wrong, sorry about that! Yeah, it's just gotten overharvested. I've now learned that as well. 10 years ago, even 5, it was waaaaay better.

    • @AuSableAngler
      @AuSableAngler 3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, I was there Friday. When I heard you say a -3.4 tide, I just assumed you went Friday. Anyways, we slammed the surf perch Saturday on the coast. I'll have to wait until next year for my first geoduck.

    • @WAFishQuest
      @WAFishQuest  3 роки тому

      @@AuSableAngler for what it's worth, I like surf perch better than geoduck. Many would disagree though, I'm sure!

      Not everywhere...some parts of the Canal are really warm, especially the lower end. Try Belfair State Park.

    • @WAFishQuest
      @WAFishQuest  3 роки тому

      A 3mm is pretty cheap, and if you're just snorkelling/free diving, will do you for July-September easy. Coast, you'd probably want a 5mm. I picked up a 7mm semi-dry, but need to lose some weight before I try to get in it.

    Nice underwater footage Blake, love Dosewallips.
    Also cool meeting you the other day at Shilshole after watching your channel for almost 9 years. Can I expect an area 9/10 video soon? 😜

    Those herring would have been cool to see, I've never seen anything like that myself. Flounder would have been cool as well. Looks like you need to add a Pole spear to your gear, haha

      oh I got one sir! hope to try it out this year. Probably after I'm done with salmon season. WA is pretty strict on spear fishing in the Salish Sea/Puget Sound, so I'll probably need to try the coast! thanks as always!

    Use a product called "sea drops" on your mask for antifog. Put it on, rub it around, and rinse it off. Your good for hours.

      Agreed! Well, I usually get one. But I think 90% of people don't. Even 5 or 6 years ago I'd get 2 and sometimes 3.

    Glue that wetsuit back together, don't trash it. There are a ton of tutorials online on how to do so. You're only out the cost of glue and some thread if it doesn't work out. Much cheaper than buying a new suit.
