The recordings of Wayne shorter

- Wayne Shorter is perhaps the greatest living jazz composer and tenor saxophonist. From his early solo albums to The Jazz Messengers, his influential Blue Note records, Weather Report and today, he continues to explore as only he can. Here's a brief overview of my favorite Shorter LPs.
For me Wayne’s 60s Blue Note lps are the greatest things in jazz 💕
Hi Ken, great video
Thank you so much
Blessings
Yes.Night Deamer. That first title track.OMG.If I put together a best of Blue Note the first two track would be that cut and title track on Lee Morgans "Search For The New Land".Both are incredible cuts that like you said are cerebral and I might add spiritual modal jazz
Great Wayne Shorter collection Ken I cant wait for the Stereophile feature . Waynes compositions are outstanding even the stuff he wrote for Miles Davis 2nd quintet .
This is great, i've been looking for something like this for ages! Thanks for sharing your vast musical knowledge and experiences. Also agree, Shorter is the man!
I just stumbled against this review of yours and rushed to purchase a mint 95 pressing of Schizophrenia. This gem I totally forgot, is a keystone of Wayne’s carrier IMHO. Not as famous as Adam’s Apple but by far a masterpiece. James Spaulding’s psychedelic flute is of another planet !!!
Tks for what you are doing for the community.
Can't wait for that article and jealous of the interview. Based on recorded interviews I have seen with him I agree with your comment on being lyrical in his responses. I've lost more auctions on Schizophrenia than I have fingers and toes. I may have to just succumb and go with the '95 US CD release.
Just recently found your channel and I just wanted to say all your content is fantastic! Love Wayne Shorter as well. Take care!
Great video Ken and glad you got to interview Wayne Shorter . I was only listening to Ju Ju last night and posted it up on the site ! Ha ...think a little Miles later this evening 😀
Brilliant minds...
Ken -- Thanks for another informative video, your views & opinions are always a pleasure in the vinyl community. Take Care, looking forward to more!
Thank you sir.
#kenMicallefJazzVinylLover, fantastic channel...!!

If you little approached your microphone, it be kool ! 👍👍
Hello Ken, recently can across your UA-cam site by chance. Enjoyed your section on Wayne Shorter. Can I be boringly nostalgic, saw Wayne perform with Jazz Messengers at The Free Trade Hall, Manchester, UK ( 1961 ) in the band were Lee Morgan and Bobby Timmons, Thelonious Monk other half bill CD of this Concert available ( Jazz Messengers )sorry vinyl lovers, My favourite track : The Summit. I live in UK. My best wishes to all people who love Jazz ( especially Hard Bop )
AWESOME video
Hi Ken, I've watched a lot of your videos and have enjoyed them all. I found a copy of Wayne Shorter "Speak No Evil" on Blue Note at a flea market last year. Really a great album. I had no idea he was still alive. Looking forward to the article in Stereophile in November. I'm a jazz nut but don't find too much jazz out in the wild (thrifts being the 'wild'). Used to find jazz back in the 90's but those days appear to be long over. It's wonderful to see how you appreciate the artwork on the covers. I do too. David Stone Martin is one of my favs. ~Nicola
HI Nicola, thanks for the kind words. Yes, Wayne is still kicking it. Check out his quartet on youtube. Just amazing. His new album is great, and it's more in the classical vein, while 2 CDs are purely his quartet.
Definitely will check out his latest and the quartet on YT. Thanks for the suggestions.
Nice introduction
Cool video Ken. You're a fountain of insights.
Great complete review ken. Thanks again!
Really enjoying your videos. Glad you like the ECM stuff along with all the bluenote, etc. I have been a weather report fan for years but never checked his solo stuff out. No comparison, although he's great in any setting.
Thanks for the comment Eric
I watch your videos and I head for the boxes of vinyl records. So now it's off to find Wayne Shorter records. Including a copy of Schizophrenia plus 7 others.
Enjoy
Ken if you had to pick your top 3 what would they be?
Top 3 for Wayne? Night Dreamer, Speak No Evil, Schizophrenia/Soothsayer. Hard to pick 3!
Agree re Coltrane/Shorter as composers. Shorter seems a much more complete in his musicianship and writing, able to evoke a greater range of feeling and lyricism. Coltrane is no slouch, and I love him, but Shorter's writing seems able to reach greater depths of engagement that draw me in as much as impress me.
Not into audio mags much any more but will look out for your article!
Well stated jusbe47! I am not alone....(secret no need to buy the issue, keep an eye on the website)
Hey fellow JVC members, I just watched this short documentary of the Wayne Shorter Quartet and thought I'd share it. I found the music to be nothing short of amazing, but the interviews with Wayne were really revealing. He really is on a higher plain than we mortals. We're so lucky to have such artists. Hope you enjoy it: ua-cam.com/video/vcdHw-k1cxI/v-deo.html
Note, I'm with you on Wayne's compositions. I find his music touches me more deeply than that of Coltrane's.
Thanks Frank!
I don't know if you've made a tour of the room where you store your record collection, if not I would like to plz.
🎯💯👏👏👏👏💟🗝
On a different video you talked about Adams Apple and said you love it but it’s not your fav Shorter album. So what is….?
Nightdreamer
the volume on this video is almost non existent...............
