While you're looking for them, be on the lookout for Surinam cherries, Coco plums, and sea grapes. The Surinam cherries are sweet and tart, the coco plums have a cottony texture, and the sea grapes taste like Worcestershire sauce.
While the berries are edible, people prefer to plant the first two as hedgerows because of their beautiful foliage. The latter is a gorgeous tree for those who want something tropical but want to avoid the kitsch of the palm tree.

I’m from Puerto Rico and that looks like a variation of a fruit we have here called pomarrosa (which has the word rose in the second part of the name). I’ve never seen them that dry, but it’s what I imagine a dry pomarrosa would look like. They vary from light yellow (like the one you have) to a very beautiful violet fuchsia red, almost like watered down wine in color (rind), but an off white kind of ivory color like a pear or apple inside. They’re juice, delicious and one of my favorite fruits. Some are shaped like an Asian pear, but smaller which is exactly like what the one you have in the video and those are the yellow (like yours). In the other hand, the reddish ones (I previously described) are shape like skinny long pears like a concorde pear, but smaller. I’m not living home otherwise I’d send you some since the trees are ready to harvest right now.

I love Rose Apples! The texture is very light. It not too sweet and even though its really light, it somehow still has a crunch too it. My family has a Coffee Farm in Vietnam but they also grew other stuff. They grew Rose Apples, Jackfruit, Durian, Dragonfruit, banana trees, Mangoes, and the list goes on! I haven’t been back since I left but I hope one day I’ll be able to roam around the farm and binge eat all the fruits. Especially Rose Apples 😩😩

We have these in the Caribbean. Ours have a pink blush on the side of the skin that has more sun exposure...can also be an indication they are ready to be picked. The rest is the same colour as this one. I liked them growing up but found them too dry in adulthood. The blossoming tree is very pretty...like little yellow starbursts all over.

I'm from Bangalore, India. Came across this video while searching for nutrition information on Rose Apple. I love this fruit. It's a very seasonal fruit and available for just a couple of months in Bangalore. It's super expensive too! This afternoon I paid the same amount of money to buy 250 gms of Rose Apple and 1 kg of mangoes (which was also on the higher side as the mango season is just starting here & it's a low-crop year). Wonderful to see a video on one of my favourite fruits. It's called Pannerale in my language, Kannada, which translates to fragrant jamun. The Indian purple Jamun tree and rose apple tree look pretty similar, hence the name.

I love all your videos Emmy, but your series on Fruity Fruits is one of the most interesting in my opinion. You've tasted many interesting and beautiful fruits and they all amaze me, but this Rose Apple really piques my curiosity. Everything from hearing the pit/seed in the middle bouncing around as you shook it, to hearing your description of how it tastes. I've got to try and find one of these to taste. I'm also curious if you and your boys will be planting the seeds to see if you can get it to grow. I know you're not in the right climate for a real fruit tree to grow, but I think getting a little plant to grow would be neat. Nature is pretty amazing!!😊💕

oh my gosh!!! A family friend has one of these trees in his backyard and brought a TON over to my house. For the life of me I could not find what they were called! Google kept trying to tell me that they were loquats but I knew they weren't. Thank you for posting this! I finally know the name. Also what a coincidence! I am also from the Fort Lauderdale area

In South East Asia, its own as "Jambu Air". Eaten just like that or eaten with plum powder or plum powder & chili. The common one one the pink or red one. This color kinda rare. This fruit didn't last long after being plucked from the tree, mostly 1 day especially being heated by the sun. Its will be sour.

If you get to try different varieties I highly suggest it. They are my favorite fruit. The large red are my favorite. Crisp. Juicy. Not at all vegital. Somewhat like rose/jasmine tea. Syzygium malaccenss, I believe.
