Can you still hang 80" doors on a barn door mechanism? I'm not sure i'm up for adding the 3 inches! Your thoughts?

I would lean the door up by the opening and check the gaps at the top and go from there. Thanks for watching 😊

I wonder why not do the extension on the bottom rather than on the top of the door.

You could, but the door knob would be super high, you could move it, but dang, such a pain. Hmm, it seems his french doors didn’t have any knob or cut outs. I am used to working with reclaimed /antique doors, which always have the knob, or at least the cutouts, so I’ve always added the extension at the top.
