Absolutely. I was just expecting a cute comedy but instead I got one of the most wonderful things that I’ve ever experienced. What an incredible piece of art this show is.
It’s so refreshing they did not follow the old trope: Person 1 has a secret that would make person 2 mad Persons 2 and 1 grow together Person 2 finds the secret and gets mad Person 1 needs to make some grand gesture to get forgiveness It’s like, nobody thought of the power of simply admitting the mistakes at once and possibly being forgiven. It was not Hollywood enough. Well lookie here
Couldn't agree more. That trope is so common and so lazy. It was far more impactful that Rebecca decided to come clean and apologize of her own accord and that Ted was understanding and forgave her.
@@zacheryacuff8070 keeley did force her hand, but I kinda think after what Rupert just did to her this would have happened anyway. In fact, I would have enjoyed the scene even more then I did if keeley had not played a part.
Yes, I agree. Producers usually demand that no tension gets resolved this easily and certainly not in one scene. At least the phone should ring or something stop her, or him.
I love that Ted doesn't say, "It's okay." Because, it's really not. And they both know it. What he says is, "I forgive you." Because, even though it's not "okay", he really *does* forgive her.
That’s the power of forgiveness. It’s just as much for the forgiver as it is for the one being forgiven. Carrying around a grudge is just as toxic as carrying around guilt. Ted knows this. He knows that carrying anger in your heart helps no one, least of all you.

The way he walks away from Rebecca with a little swagger in his step is just perfect. He's feeling good cause he knows he just helped lift a massive weight off his friend's shoulders. Did she betray him? Yes. Did she attempt to make it right? Yes. And that's more than enough for Ted
The thing about this scene is Rebecca confessing & Ted forgiving her were predictable. What makes it special is they connect both to something deeper. Rebecca reacts to the deep pain & cruelty of her ex, and Ted reacts to his own very painful experience with divorce.
This show does such a brilliant job at showing how good coaches act because media tends to show the “Bobby Knight’s” of the world. Being a coach, doesn’t mean you have to be an asshole.
The scene would, I think, come across as forced, if it weren't for Ted's earlier outburst at Nathan. Ted knows, very well, that divorce makes you do crazy things and even hurt good people on occasion. You wouldn't be able to believe Ted's forgiveness if you hadn't seen his own divorce.

It's awesome because when you really think about it, the show makes it a point that Ted embodies that whole "Be curious, not judgmental" ethos that he spoke about in the darts scene with Rupert.
Divorce is hard Doesn't matter if you are the leaving or the one who got left. If you care about someone and you have a little love in your heart... there's nothing you can't go through together. Such powerful statements.
Kudos to the writers of this show for taking what was supposed to be just a caricature character in a series of commercials and turning him into a human being that we could all relate to. No wonder this show got nominated for those Emmys.
Well it wasn't really Apple who made the show, they just funded it. It was Bill Lawrence/Doozer Productions who made it, and they have history with seemingly simple comedy shows that turn out to be far more complex and life-affirming as they go on, thinking of Scrubs in particular.
It is so easy to hold a grudge when you find out someone has had it in for you, to be angry, to be outraged, to demand justice. But there is a simple and healing power of forgiveness. It's not religious or metaphysical. It's 100% real and true, that being forgiving makes your life easier, and overall better. Grudges eat away at you, they poison you. Anger destroys your heart, hurts your physical being. Be be willing an open to forgive is an antidote to so much negativity in the world. This simple scene where he forgives her is so powerful.

I'm so glad people watch Ted Lasso bc yall are getting the magic that Bill Lawrence gave us in spades through Scrubs. Heart, depth, and tone shifts on a dime without being saccharin or maudlin. Complexity delivered in refined simplicity.
This scene crushes me, not only Ted’s character, but the relief he gave Rebecca when she expected the worst. Forgiveness is hard. We can all learn from this fictional character. “All you good people, just trying to make a difference.” Heartbreaking line and delivery was when her character leveled up for me. This hug and the warmth is why TV exists.

Makes you wonder if Olivia was falling out of love with Jason? Just how much of Ted the character, a representation of what is going on with Jason, the man.
This show surprised the hell ouot to me. I knew Sudeikis was good, but here is downright amazing. Hats off to the rest of the talented cast as well. Waddingham is a tall, blonde goddess. Brendan Hunt as his assistant also draws top marks.
Even if the show changes the energy and makes them a couple (which I don't want), I still kind of trust they'd do it right. Like it wouldn't be a schmoopy romance but a complex, layered example of two friends becoming more.
This moment changed Rebecca’s life. Not only did it lift a huge weight off her shoulders, it showed her that she finally had someone in her corner. Amazing show
Just got Apple TV this past weekend and watched the entire two seasons in a day and half stopping only to sleep. Absolutely terrific show. I kept finding myself smiling from start to finish.
Thank you Jason S. For writing such profound beautiful show which has made me not want to watch anything else ,and thank you for introducing to the world the amazing Hanna Waddingham ,she is such a joy to watch along with this incredible cast !
This scene is just perfect, from the music transitions and the superb acting of both Hannah and Jason, to the meaningful power of forgiveness. They accomplished one of the most human scenes I've watched, topped by a fantastic and immersive sound editing, this is one of those scenes to watch over and over.
Love the acting from about 1:20 to 1:40. The relief of letting out the secret, to Ted taking it in, to the forgiveness, her shock at why so easily off the hook, to the understanding of why he forgive.
Never seen the show but my God are the performances incredible just in this one scene. Really had me tearing up. I can definitely see why she won those awards
Some people just don't understand Ted Lasso, Asami Sato or Superman. There are so many people who think that the world so cruel and terrible so we must be cruel and terrible in return so when we see good people come around and be kind so many of them just assume it's an act because no one can be that kind or caring. And that's what makes them great. they're not cynical, or mean or anything else. They see the best in others and do all the can to help others. I love Ted, Asami and Clark, the world would be a better place if we had more people like them.
Rebecca was a damaged person who tried to get revenge on her ex-husband, but ended up hurting other innocent people in the process, including Ted. Rebecca, at heart, is a good person, and what makes this scene so powerful is that Ted recognizes that, and knows that her actions were done out of pain and spite towards Rupert, not towards him or Keeley.
I imagine she has not heard that in a couple decades. Here she is admitting to being a bitch, making his life a challenge, and he forgives her. She was absolutely gobsmacked!
This, and the dart scene, are the reasons why I binged Ted Lasso. And I can safely say after 2 seasons later, it's one of the best show ever. Ted is such a joyous and human character and Jason absolutely deserved all of the Emmys he won for Ted.
This is one of the most beautiful scenes. Her incredible honesty despite how terrible it may have revealed her to be and his instant and unconditional forgiveness despite how crappy things have been for him.
Well if I may offer a different take, I don’t think she was terrible, just her actions. By coming forward and admitting to those actions it’s actually showing what a good person is that she’s willing to correct her mistakes.
This scene is so powerful. I think about it a lot and how well written both sides are. Rebecca’s apology was so sincere and genuine; no excuses, no rationalisation. How an apology should be. And Ted’s ability to forgive is perfect: understanding that people are hurting inside and instead of dismissing her remorse, he tries to help and support her through her pain. A truly good person. This show is full of so many life lessons and shows the power of kindness in such a great way.
Just imagine learning that you left your home and endured weeks of taunting and insults for a job you thought you were crazy to take, only to learn that the person who offered it to you thought you were an idiot and brought you in specifically to ruin you--to learn that one of the few people you thought had your back was in fact behind some of your greatest problems. That your very boss tried to sabotage not just you, but the hopes and dreams of all the young men you were struggling to keep together... It's easy, with the forgiveness, to overlook the magnitude of what Ted is forgiving here. He learns all this (he seems to mostly react to the news about Jamie) in a few moments, but the divorce helps him realize exactly the pain that made Rebecca lash out in this very insidious way.
Hannah is one of the best actresses I have seen in a long time. She is right up there with the bests. She would be a late bloomer in Hollywood but better late than never.
I love the blocking/framing of this scene, especially at 1:29 where it shows them meeting each other half way. The moment that their dynamic shifts and they truly become allies.
She does something awful because of the pain she is dealing with.... Ted has experienced the same pain and realizes it makes people act crazy and forgives her..... the empathy in this show is amazing. To recognize anothers struggles and empathize with them is sorely lacking in the real world
Even as she tells him that she was trying to hurt him, he still has a look of genuine concern on his face for what she’s going through and automatically empathizes with her. Love seeing that in a character.
Ted has made me rethink my entire life philosophy. No show has ever achieved this.

@@jerrya6855 absolutely wasn’t expecting a gem of a show like this highly recommended in the goodness in people that is needed
Me too. I have no interest in pro sports in general, much less soccer but my friends insisted I watch. “Why?” I asked, but all they would tell me is “watch the first episode and you won’t be able to stop.” And they were right.
Same here. Turned out to be the best show I've seen out of the pandemic. 👏
Absolutely. I was just expecting a cute comedy but instead I got one of the most wonderful things that I’ve ever experienced. What an incredible piece of art this show is.
It’s so refreshing they did not follow the old trope:
Person 1 has a secret that would make person 2 mad
Persons 2 and 1 grow together
Person 2 finds the secret and gets mad
Person 1 needs to make some grand gesture to get forgiveness
It’s like, nobody thought of the power of simply admitting the mistakes at once and possibly being forgiven. It was not Hollywood enough. Well lookie here
Couldn't agree more. That trope is so common and so lazy. It was far more impactful that Rebecca decided to come clean and apologize of her own accord and that Ted was understanding and forgave her.
I very much agree! This was very refreshing
It's so much more realistic, too.
@@captross07 Not necessarily, forgiveness is not always a necessary path to healing.
I don’t know. I would have called the press. Ted Lasso is TOO SOFT. NO woman or anyone can respect a man who’d tolerate THAT kind of DISRESPECT. That’s the problem with my fellow man. TOO Soft. Should’ve made an example of her. Whatever happened to real masculine men?
I don’t give an F how cynical and vindictive I am. In this case I’m CORRECT
@@captross07nah, “forgiveness” is too often weakness. Just like “compassion”. It allows too many to get away with anything
@@brutustantheiii8477 Dude…are you okay?
The way he walks away from Rebecca with a little swagger in his step is just perfect. He's feeling good cause he knows he just helped lift a massive weight off his friend's shoulders. Did she betray him? Yes. Did she attempt to make it right? Yes. And that's more than enough for Ted
Subtle swagger was right there
The thing about this scene is Rebecca confessing & Ted forgiving her were predictable.
I don’t know. I would have only faked forgiveness and called the press.
You can tell she’s an experienced theatre actress … very good casting
Tell me about it. She has a face that can communicate emotion half a kilometer away!
I. Forgive. You.
Three words that hold so much strength, mercy, empathy and wisdom. What a show.
Probably the best scene in TV from last year.
You wouldn’t be wrong.
It’s this or the darts scene for me
What episode is this?

This and the Mandalorian finale scene- Luke coming back, and grogu saying goodbye. I couldn’t stop crying
"The only thing evil can't stand is forgiveness.”
--Mr. Fred Rodgers
Evil doesn’t really care if forgiven or not. Evil is just evil.
Evil does not see the other.
Forgiveness blesses the good, the forgiver. It delivers us from evil.
@@miguelservetus9534 Obviously you need to do a little more forgiving.
@@josephmanno4514 Sorry my post wasn’t as clear as I hoped.
I was just cautioning not to expect much from the evil.
Funny because my parents and spiritual mentor tell me I am too forgiving.
But I stand by my statement that forgiveness blesses the forgiven.
I find that evil doesn’t want, nor ask for forgiveness.
Don’t ever underestimate how difficult it was for each of them to do what they do in these three minutes
How difficult it is to accept responsibility for your own errors
How difficult it is to apologize
How difficult it is to forgive
What an incredible scene
I live my life with what i call cautious pessimism and this show broke me. It broke me on an existential level.
As Roy Kent says later in the series, "I give you love."
this scene with two emmy award winning actors ladies and gentleman. i've watched this scene so many times and it was like a good punch in the gut when ted instantly said "i forgive you". it's almost like a fantasy you have when you know you really messed up. such powerful words that can change lives. also love how much acting jason was doing with just his eyes/face in the first half of the scene. brilliant.
These two were the MOST deserving winners that night. The entire show hinges on them. Especially Rebecca.
I cry every time I watch him say “I forgive you”.
I wish this world, myself included, was as good at “taking a breathe and trying to understand” as Ted Lasso is.
It's awesome because when you really think about it, the show makes it a point that Ted embodies that whole "Be curious, not judgmental" ethos that he spoke about in the darts scene with Rupert.
@@whytemyke YES
@@whytemyke Well said.👍👍👍
“Divorce is hard.”
Man, what the actor brought to say that line… I felt that.
Not to mention that he'd lived through one in real life.
Divorce is hard
Doesn't matter if you are the leaving or the one who got left.
If you care about someone and you have a little love in your heart... there's nothing you can't go through together.
Such powerful statements.
"You liven up the place."
The first time seeing this scene is the hardest I’ve cried in years. I’m crying again now lol.
It is, simply, an amazing show with an incredibly gifted cast and writing team. And wait till you see S2!
Kudos to the writers of this show for taking what was supposed to be just a caricature character in a series of commercials and turning him into a human being that we could all relate to. No wonder this show got nominated for those Emmys.
And won em all!
A modern day Andy Griffith show...just outstanding on so many levels.
Never would have thought that apple above all productions would Create such a cute and diabetically sweet show.

This simple scene where he forgives her is so powerful.
couldnt agree more
I have forgiveness tattooed across my chest, I wasn’t always a good person, little daily reminder to not dwell
Not a believer in forgiveness, but I like your message.
@@mywifesboyfriend5741 You don’t believe in forgiveness? I’m willing to bet you’re a pretty bitter person. I say that because I used to be the same way. Once I started to forgive and let go, I was able to live.
@@remindyouofwho7201 Forgiveness is an invitation for a knife in the back. I'm not bitter, just wise. Besides, there's plenty of time for forgiveness once the person who offended you is dead. Till then? Nah.
The compassion showed in this scene is just...wow. Floors me every time I watch it
This moment here is all you need to see to know how amazing Ted lasso is
I love how this show depicts several apologies, all sincere and all met with compassion and forgiveness. As if the show is drilling it into our heads like “See? It can be this way.”
This show has me going from belly laughing to crying in an instant and I absolutely LOVE it!!
Great, I'm crying again
"You and me? We're ok" What a mensch
I'm so glad people watch Ted Lasso bc yall are getting the magic that Bill Lawrence gave us in spades through Scrubs. Heart, depth, and tone shifts on a dime without being saccharin or maudlin. Complexity delivered in refined simplicity.
Ted is such a good fking guy, we dont deserve him 😭😭😭😭😭
Ted Lasso, is the story of one person healing a team and of a team healing a person.
To err is human, to forgive is divine.
And that’s what separates people like Ted Lasso
Someone else is always hurting too. Never forget that. Forgiveness is freedom.
Its incredible how these writers have done what every Disney movie fails at having a strong independent women who rich and probably has most things most people want but at the end of the day everyone can connect with her because shes human not perfect
Who’s talking here about divorce being hard: Jason or Ted? 😩
Yes.
Found marriage much harder. Divorce has been great.
Makes you wonder if Olivia was falling out of love with Jason? Just how much of Ted the character, a representation of what is going on with Jason, the man.
Ted, because Jason wasn't married.
@@Miblive but he was in a relationship for years. Which was what Jason was going through. A break up. At least publicly.
Ted's face as Rebecca was confessing killed me, and then he did the most Ted Lasso thing possible: forgave her immediately.
I totally second and agree
I don't think they will and I certainly hope they don't. Honestly I'm not sure there's really a woman who could handle Ted's relentless optimism.
I don't think a boss dating a subordinate would be received well, particularly in the MeToo era (even when the sexes are reversed)
I don’t it is Ted she is talking to on Bantr. I think it’s Sam. Maybe Nate. Nate said he deleted the app but I don’t believe him.
@@rickkopfler8447 I thought it was Ted originally. Laughed my ass off when it was revealed to be Sam.
This moment changed Rebecca’s life. Not only did it lift a huge weight off her shoulders, it showed her that she finally had someone in her corner. Amazing show
What a freaking amazing beautiful piece of a show! Congratulations to everyone involved.
This exact scene told me this was something refreshing, something different.
Love Ted Lasso and everyone behind this show!
God I love this show
Forgiveness seems to be such a strange concept these days.
Instead of being angry, Ted not only forgives her but he also thanks Rebecca for giving him the job. WOW , never see this level kind of kindness!
This scene is just perfect, from the music transitions and the superb acting of both Hannah and Jason, to the meaningful power of forgiveness. They accomplished one of the most human scenes I've watched, topped by a fantastic and immersive sound editing, this is one of those scenes to watch over and over.
Ted, offering forgiveness so quickly and without reservation, is such a window into the soul of a truly good man.
By the way, this is the same actress who yelled "shame" and rang the bell in Game of Thrones. Let that sink in....
Hoooolleeeeee crap. Now that is acting.
Love the acting from about 1:20 to 1:40. The relief of letting out the secret, to Ted taking it in, to the forgiveness, her shock at why so easily off the hook, to the understanding of why he forgive.
I like the fact her character is not only a woman, but a fkin bastard team owner with balls!
This is the show that everyone didn’t realise they needed.
I love this show. The moment he puts himself in her shoes and shows he understands what she is going thru, it’s freaking awesome.
Never seen the show but my God are the performances incredible just in this one scene. Really had me tearing up. I can definitely see why she won those awards
The world doesn't deserve Ted Lasso! Just what 2020 needed.
“Don’t humanize him!” 😂💕
Rebecca was a damaged person who tried to get revenge on her ex-husband, but ended up hurting other innocent people in the process, including Ted. Rebecca, at heart, is a good person, and what makes this scene so powerful is that Ted recognizes that, and knows that her actions were done out of pain and spite towards Rupert, not towards him or Keeley.
This scene is beautiful
Ted Lasso is truly a gem of a show with a fantastic cast, It makes you laugh and cry all with in one episode. Can not wait for season 3
Imagine the weight lifted off Rebecca when Ted said "I forgive you"
I imagine she has not heard that in a couple decades.
And I love that to show how hard it truly was, they had her try once before this and not be able to do it.
Well if I may offer a different take, I don’t think she was terrible, just her actions. By coming forward and admitting to those actions it’s actually showing what a good person is that she’s willing to correct her mistakes.
If more people were like Ted lasso, the world would be so much brighter
When I first started watching "Ted Lasso", I thought Rebecca was gonna be a villainous shrew....but I grew to love her as much as Ted!
makes me cry every time I rewatch this scene!! Such a brilliant show on SO many levels.
thought of this scene and started crying out of the blue. cheers
Partly because he realized she wasn't really out for him so much as her ex.
"Divorce is hard" - Boy, he hit the nail on that one and for that matter everything he said during that scene.
that lady is really good at acting
Hannah is one of the best actresses I have seen in a long time. She is right up there with the bests. She would be a late bloomer in Hollywood but better late than never.
I love the blocking/framing of this scene, especially at 1:29 where it shows them meeting each other half way. The moment that their dynamic shifts and they truly become allies.
I was hoping so hard she would have a change of heart. God this show is amazing.
If she doesn't win an emmy today I will be very pissed
She does something awful because of the pain she is dealing with.... Ted has experienced the same pain and realizes it makes people act crazy and forgives her..... the empathy in this show is amazing. To recognize anothers struggles and empathize with them is sorely lacking in the real world
It's incredibly fitting that the very next suggested video is Hannah Waddingham accepting an Emmy for her role.
Ted Lasso needs to try Uncle Iroh's tea for a change
Season 2 cant get here soon enough
Even as she tells him that she was trying to hurt him, he still has a look of genuine concern on his face for what she’s going through and automatically empathizes with her. Love seeing that in a character.

The shows way better then expected. Has a lot of heart..

Hoping this show has a good long run. Would love to see a prequel of Ted Lasso’s football coaching career.
