What a cool and relaxed guy Gabi is and what interesting stories he has to tell. I'm somewhat proud to be bred in the same town as him, even if I'm quite the opposite of him in terms of openness. It's amazing he stayed in Wuppertal despite of all what he had experienced and suffered as a child when xenophobia even reached southern Europeans like the Spanish or Greek, whose basic culture is very close to the central European imho. Music, especially the scene in Düsseldorf, may have saved Gabi to suffer from a lifelong depression.
Gabi spoke better German than most of the natives. Veeery broad vocabulary, lots of germanic-rooted words instead of latinisms and anglicisms, pristine grammar... A great interviewee for language learning magazines.

I would like to add: as a native spanish speaker, I can say he also spoke it fluently, without a trace of foreign accent.
