Absolutely. My Mom has also been such an incredible source of inspiration, insight; vision and strength in my life. Very intelligent women; seasoned expert in medical research.
Good Dr, when you brought your dad I felt honoured to listen, and yet again today being here with your mother feels like an absolute privilege. Thank you for welcoming us into your home. Your parents are beautiful people. And listening to them taught me a lot about our country. Keep up the great work #AyeYe

It just warmed my heart to see and experience the love, respect and mutual admiration between mother and son. I found myself smiling and often chuckling to myself. Mme Oakley-Smith, I take my virtual hat off to you for having raised one of the most polite, gentle, yet sharp-witted and erudite sons from our shores.
What a wonderful soul, I like how well versed she is on cultural sensitivity matters and how she eloquently and effortlessly articulates the nuances around this rather uncomfortable subject. What a gem! It's almost difficult to understand how the ANC got it so wrong with such outstanding stalwarts at their disposal. This Mbokodo is cut from a different cloth, I could listen to her speak for hours on end. Sizwe you are privileged to have been reared by such revolutionary and fearless parents!
Thanks mama for bringing up the young man well, today we have hope to say, we still have future leaders amongst us.All the the best for you abuti,we appreciate your work Sizwe.
This interview with Terry was everything and more. I love hearing her speak about her work with corporate and schools on diversity and you can see that she’s so passionate about it. I wish you can have her back again ❤
What an interesting conversation between mother and son, she define our problem to the T, you should invite her back Sizwe, we have alot to learn from her, Ayeye!
Your moms presence is majestic yet gentle ❤ she has that mama bear warmth, i feel at ease and protected. Thank you Mama for being the Mother of the Nation.
Teresa noted with Disgust, that ramaphosa survived phalaphala when the ANC sings a renewal song...she noted that resignation should have been automatic for Rama in order to radiate seriousness on the renewal mission
What an honor to share your mom with us. You are indeed privileged to be raised by such a caliber of a woman. Educated and well rounded. Thank you for gifting us with this interview as your. 🎉🙏
Thanks for this episode. I'm glad she revealed that in the early years of democracy corruption was there. the ANC has always been the same ignoring important factors that affect our society. Exiles came and dominated the space, a big mistake.
This is the most informative show for 2024, whether or not people like it.... dispassionate content is not popular. I wonder how charlatans like Mashele would fare in a debate with this beautiful soul?
This was such a good interview! Thank you for gracing the podcast Mama kaSizwe. I hope she can come back again and we get to hear more about her life and upbringing and introduction into the political space etc. P.S. this interview has made me understand and appreciate the good Dr even more. He was raised by such an intelligent and sober-minded woman. It just all makes sense how Dr Sizwe is the way he is.
HOORAY 🎉 to you DR SIZWE, THE QUEEN 👑 IS IN THE OFFICE. What a BEAUTIFUL BLESSED LADY 🌹 you have with you in studio DR MPOFU. May FATHER GOD continue to be with HER, MAKE HER VERY WELL, KEEP HER JOYFUL AND HUMBLE. WATHINTA ABAFAZI WATHINTA IMBOKODO 🇿🇦✌🏾
I am big fan of this podcast and I hardly ever comment. However, this session stands out for me and I had to be thankful for the awesome work. @Sizwe, kudos to you, to Mom, many thanks for the gentle reminder that we still have a long way to go. My view is that this is a struggle of our time and we should foster socioeconomic equality and equity.
Your Mom is absolutely on point (ofc)! Not only did we not hold perpetrators accountable, but we got former operatives of notorious SAP and SADF units openly bragging about their endeavours on various media outlets. In other countries there are laws that punish the glorification of past atrocious regimes, but in the case of SA this type of hate speech is fully tolerated!
What a person with depth, insight, inspiration and objectivity. I had the feeling that I could listen to her for hours. Young man, you must regard yourself as privileged to have her as your mom. Thank you for bringing her to the show..."young lion"😊
RDP, TRC, Vryburg, and many others were really missed opportunities. We actually dropped the ball many years ago. The current decline is not because of today's problems but years and years of endless disappointment. Current delivery failures are a cherry on top. Anyway, the level of respect there, calling your guest Mom is legendary ❤
I agree with Mom. Why a "Nuremberg-style court" was not used for the TRC? Nuremberg Trials focuses on prosecuting individuals for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Nuremberg-style process should have been implemented to ensure justice for victims and accountability by perpetrators.
Perpetrators can still be charged under International Law. The issue is that our prosecution authorities are doing their best to prevent any serious steps in that direction, so it’s left to the discretion of pro bono lawyers and private initiatives!
I thoroughly enjoyed this interview with your mom and I completely agree, she deserves a national recognition of some kind. Seems like her work is very similar to what Dr Joy deGruy Leary is doing in the USA. I think the two of them should exchange notes (in a manner of speaking), if they are not already doing so.
Yey to your Incredible Woman MUM dear Dr Sizwe MWX, indeed she brought out the best in you. Now your platform brings the best of politics/ politicians to the nation. Ayeye 🎉
Thank you so much Dr Sizwe for bringing mommy to the channel. This was very informative interview and we thank her for the work she done and still do❤ayeye 🎉🎉
l like such mothers like , Sizwe"s mother, intelligent Mama who was also involved in the politics of this country. Mother and child reunion talking about important of the living and history of this country. Thank you Mama. and thank you Sizwe.I can say this lady brought up her son in a good dignified manner.I like really what I see here a mother explaining what was happening those days to her Son.
My mother ran a farm school for black children for a group of farms 🚜 in the Modimolle area. For 6 years it was highly successful educating arround 75 children in prep for high school. All could read and write , fluent in English. These appointed farmers paid all expenses to uphold the standard. Problems arose when nearby black run government schools heard about the standard of success , other parents started demanding enterance and jealousy became transparent. Kids at the school were targetted for bullying and threats by parents . My mother was elderly and felt unsafe . She resigned and shortly the school closed. We all blame racism as its an easy out for tribal culture and low intelligence but we all see how our country has deteriated under the simple basis of our school and its demise. 😢 we tend to tell ourselves lies .
Not to take anything away from other amazing episodes. This is by far the best episode... How do we sponsor or contribute monetarily towads this Super podcast outside SA? 🇧🇼

I was not aware that Teresa is your mom, I always here her on radio and see her on TV. Now I understand why you are sooooo smart, it looks like your future was arranged for greater heights from your birth. Soooooo people myself have to work hard to get anywhere because we start from shaky foundation. Life lessons.
I wish more comments would centre around the content rather than praising this first class podcast. Sans must start learning something substantial about their country affairs
Sizwe, I like your show and I also like the way you handle sensitive issues. Why Malema has decided to denigrate you is a mystery to me. Continue the good work mfana wakithi.
Education is big problem I remember struggling with English and Afrikaans when I was young from early years of my schooling until last years, it is very confusing and frustrating sometimes one think of giving up because it was too much to learn in a foreign language and most people who are at privileged side think it is easy and it is very challenging, it is not easy to learn maths, Science and biology in a foreign language is very frustrating and stressful, I talk from an experience. Some us we became very quiet and reserved in our classrooms because we couldn’t speak English or Afrikaans that well and I was very ashamed and extremely critical of myself. Very emotional interview and interesting one…
You are on point and more people need to talk about this factor. This right here is exactly why the IQ rhetoric that some people try to push is so unfair and baseless.
Greeting has always been something that bothered me in the work place. That some of my country men and women never really bother to learn some of the basics. Not greeting is a serious offense in most if not all black cultures in the country and in the continent. Assimilation only needs to flow one way.
Acknowledging and without minimizing or denying that racism does exist. the Reality is South Africa is made up of many cultures and the problem people have in relating to one another is that everything is quickly racialized. Sometimes we get offended because we misunderstand the differences in other cultures and then we immediately think someone is racist but we don't realize that there could be another reason for their behaviour that is not directed at us per se. SCENARIO e.g. you are of x race and a manager of a diverse team. One day you decide to buy your team lunch but 3 of them who are a different race to you don't eat and look visibly displeased. You offer them personally but they decline and this makes you feel offended. Now you could assume those 3 are racist because the rest of the team who's the same race as you ate your food - or you could try to find out discreetly why each of them did not want to eat. Possible Reasons: 1. you handled the food with your hands and 1 of the 3 has seen you on many occasions leave the bathroom without washing hands/ perhaps coughing or sneezing into your hands, etc. 2. they might have special dietary requirements due to allergies, being vegan, religion i.e. hinduism, islam, judaism, some christian denominations, etc which made them unable to consume the food. 3. and any other number of reasons SO the question is how self-aware are we to be able to in those moments take a step back to consider if we are reading a situation incorrectly and how willing are we to give the benefit of the doubt. Granted with our history it's not easy and that's why Mommy Sizwe's work to some degree is important but has to expand the scope of mutual understanding much further than black and white relations. As much as people have a history of where they belong & how they got here, the bottom line is that everyone is here and nobody wants to leave. So we have to look at how do we move forward together. The land ultimately belongs to God who in his divine plan has allowed people to scatter across the world from all ethnic backgrounds - in just ways and unjust ways but for those of us who believe in God know that He will ultimately settle all scores on the day of reckonning. I don't think anyone wants to go back to a global apartheid with europe thats white only, or an Asia that's asian only, or africa that's black only, etc. Our only way forward is together upon universal principles of integrity and compassion.
We really take for granted the influence of being raised by a certain callibre of parents. ❤ Although late, my mom was very similar, activist, founder etc and the energy u pick up from such parents can carry you for decades. Well done on bringing your mom Dr Siz
