    10 Cloves
    5 medium-sized Apples
    1/2 tsp Yeast

    5 medium size apples weighs about 1 kg, giving about 500 to 600 mL pulp. 600 g sugar in 500 mL water gives about 800 mL solution. Total wort is not more than about 1.5 Lit. This contains 120 g fructose (from apples) + 600 g sucrose (added) making total fermentable sugar around 720 g in 1.5 Lit. This is a bit Too High sugar for 1.5 Lit wort, equivalent to 30% abv. No yeast can survive at that concentration and the end product is bound to be sugar syrup rather than apple wine! So I think you have forgotten to tell that wort volume must be made up to 3 Lit before adding yeast. That will perfectly give 15% abv.

    • @IndianMomsKitchen

      Fungus is not normal. You have to be careful with the wooden spoon and containers used. They should be sterilised well before use. Skim the fungus out and check again in 2 days, if it comes back again then your wine has gone bad

      if you making wine from fruits and leaving bigger pieces and not using buble lock, you should mix the jar(or whatever container you using ) at least once a day, bc the fruit must be covered with liquid. that way you pevent mold or fungus creating on top os the mass. you better start over again if you found a mold or fungus on he top of your future wine.

      i think it is called kahm yeast which is white layer at the top. harmless and skimmed off.
      if looking for wine/alcoholic drink, then airlock is a must, and advise to use a wine yeast starter. byproduct of wine/alcoholic conversion in anaerobic condition is co2 that inhibits mould formation. if cloth is used, then you will get in presence of air, part wine and part apple cider.. left enough air, it becomes truly apple cider vinegar. acv is healthy but just acidic and can take 2 spoons with water for weight loss and other benefits.

    Hi,
    I followed your procedure. But my mixture is more liquid than yours as i added a lot of water. It has been a day but i cannot see bubbles. I guess the fermentation is not happening. Can you help?

    • @IndianMomsKitchen
      @IndianMomsKitchen  4 роки тому

      Normally fermentation should start happening in 4-5 hours itself. Crush 2-3 more apples and add it to the wine mix along with a large pinch of yeast

      Never seen anything like that happening before. Was your bottles sterilized well and air dried. I would suggest that you don't drink it. Apple wine is the most tasty wine I have made yet and where all wines are concerned after the first straining the wine should be clear as glass.

      You may reduce the quantity of sugar if the apples you use are sweet...the apples that we used were not that sweet and hence 600 gms sugar was ok.
