Kinda late to respond but people tend to not mention it because in game they don’t do it neither is it worth it to the because the window is so small you’re just taking free damage for attempting it. Plus only human enemies can be parried and skeleton warriors but not yokia and yokia are they main enemies you see in the game
@@christopherrosengren6017 Because she is considered yokai, and that "ice witch" is Yuki-onna. Yokais cant be parried, only human enemies can. For instance Date in his normal form can be parried in all forms of attack but once he activates living weapon he cant be parried.
This game needs a dojo 1 on 1 free training mode, with infinite health for both to get a hang of all the techniques, similar to how some beat 'em ups do.
It just needs a proper dojo mode full stop. The training missions you do get are completely useless. "Oh hi there Mr White English Guy, I am the super ninja master Hanzo. This is some Ninja hair. Eat it. Poof you have NINJA POINTS. Put ninja points into a skill and hit two guys with your sword. TRAINING COMPLETE." Where is the full training on the use of each item of Ninja equipment?
Thanks you so much! I was having some trouble getting the timing right and this is just what I needed. I watched, practiced, watched, which helped solidify the techniques for me. I might live a few seconds longer in this crazy game!

great vid. after your last one, i got much better with my "quick" parries and have been having a lot of fun with a dual sword/sword build with no magic or ninjutsu (5 dex and 5 magic). it really made me git gud and it's a very satisfying play through. i was getting frustrated with my inability though to consistently perform the "slow" parry moves. i feel less frustrated now after watching this vid as i guess they really are just more difficult and more guesswork than reaction. anyway, thanks for the vids.
Wrong, you can parry yokai with duel sword, it's skill called earthly flow, but it only works on attacks that are like global aoe, things like uzu beam attack, all jump-type attacks like spider queen, big toad etc or spin-type yokai attacks like nine-tail. Technically speaking, you can parry the big oni's, tengu and wheel monk fire breath, but it isn't worth it.
Just in case this video geta an influx of people ahead of Nioh 2 (which seems to have the same game engine as Nioh 1), here is a tip that really helped me: Axe/hammer revenants or axe/hammer enemies are GREAT to practice on! Bait them to do their double overhead swing, and parry the second part. You can see this hit landing a mile away and know with certainty when it will connect, so this will help you get the sense of when exactly your parry window is! This even helped me to start parrying faster attacks (which you have to read/predict) since I knew exactly when my window would land and if it coincided with an enemy rushing in for a low stance light attack, I'd nail it.
So far only Haze works against mid size Yokai includes captain skeleton axe warrior. Other large Yokai like the one eye, tengu, wheelmonk and the one with the long tongue can't parry but they have slow turn rate so just use low stance movement to get behind them is your best bet.
Man, thank you so much for this vid. It really helps that awesome people such as yourself share your knowledge and make our gaming experience better! o7
Man, you guys are experts. I still cant get the timing.. is it right before impact? on impact? Ive tried both but i can't get the timing . Ill get one move out of 10 correctly.. still not good enough. is it hold block then parry ? or hold parry after the block ?
For most parry moves its best to start your animation when you see they start their attack animation but some parrys you can do just before the attack lands and for me parrying while blocking works best although I'm quite bad at parrys I manage to pull off one or too when I try xD
Probably the best timing i can get for low stance attackers (it doesn’t always work but its the more consistent for me) is to block the first hit and then it gets deflected and then they’ll try to attack again right after recovery and that’s when you can parry.
I just picked this game up and he just swings the dual sword behind him. It’s like my game has different animations than anything else I see in these videos. Any help?
I mainly use spear and odachi but I still have a hard time parrying. With the spear it's a like 50/50 and I can't parry every attack. I can only parry attacks that are coming from the right side of me. I'm not even sure if u can parry every attack lol.
A noob question here, are these the only weapons that are abble to do the parry? After watching like 10 game tutorials lm starting to believe lm the only one who like Tonfas and Pole Swords hehe... But again, Kusarigama and Axe also cant not parry? Nice video btw!
oh yeah, l didnt checked the skill tree well enough by that time, l just assumed it was a well timed block or a progress locked skill, it turns out its basically both lol
cause if i get too close when i try to dodge, it will eventually hit me. It is really hard especially if your opponent is swinging at the same direction as you are dodging.
9:14 : Maybe the camera wasnt changing because you where in a thight spot. You don't suck at all, this video was very enlighting... but i main Odachi :/
Kusarigama doesn't parry. We already see it in your video you missed 2 first strike. In NIOH world it means you are dead already. Sure you have 50% chance to parry but for what? You still have own time delay right after parry so you can't do any cunterstrike right after that. There is better choice to spend your stamina (Ki) when you hold Kusarigama. It sad to say but this game way long to be perfect in martial art. It is such more arcade where fast weapon is the best (just like in DS series). That is the reason why I use only Odachi and Kusarigawa - cos they looks more natural with slower movements.
Damn, I've watched several "ultimate combat guide" videos now for this game, and this is the first time I've seen a parry even mentioned. Thank you!

You can reset your stats, then have a great armor and use a level 1 wooden sword and practice with this against some enemy with enough health.
You didn't do all the trainings....its three full on fights in the dojo with one being just as hard as tachibana side mission
Couldn't agree more!!! Similar to what is provided in Sekiro.

Thanks for the tutorial on parrying. :) Earthly Flow is very difficult to use and works on Yokai as well.
By the time I learned to parry it turned out that I didn't really need it anymore.
You forgot bare hand ninjutsu parry. The most badass parry in the game.
Easily cheese newgame by rushing the human bosses, buffing, and dealing 50k dmg ng 1

I think the parries need a buff. They don't work at all on Yokai, and are very difficult otherwise.

Lmao the salt at the end made me laugh harder than I should
don't the dual sword have a similar skill to the axe "parry" skill where you block on attack whit the other sword and poke whit the other :D
Now that you mentioned it.....i think there's a skill for that but I will need to check back.

At some point I stopped skilling the Parryskills. Its just not worth the risk.
In the new patch, they already nerfed the parry but it is still acceptable i guess.
Mister Guy it’s actually called HazeII
the earthly flow in the tree skill shows a different animation than the parryng when is executed , a bug?
What is the name of the song near the beginning of the vid? Very soft sounding.
Do you have one for Nioh 2 too?

what is the parry's button for x-box gamepad?

Is the parry stronger on the spear or on the Katana?
Katana.
Bro you forgot to 1 Parry in the game. The Parry to send Hand Cannon's fire back. How to execute that?
Unlock the skill and then literally block right before the projectile would hit you.
Thats not a parry, that is an equipment skill. You need perfect guard the projectile when you have that equipment piece.

What about tempest?
Oh so I think of dual sword party as a katana party, no wonder
Edit: it would seem auto correct has ruined my spelling
Does it matter if you're in low or mid stance?
with katana you can parry only in mid and high stance

Wtf I've finished the game, but never heard bout parrying. Which button even does this?
Solo por los saltitos del inicio doy like y recomiendo
dual katana and kusarigama FTW
To this day i can still say, slow parries SUCK for any attack that's not in high stance. They're just not worth it.
Too bad Heavenly Flow doesn't work even on the skeletons. :/ Reduces their usability pretty bad.
but dual katana earthly flow work.
The parry for the Kuwaiti game doesn’t even work and it just makes me want to delete the game knowing how little effort was put into it
