Ric never really disses Hulk. I think, regardless of what happened in WCW, Ric and a lot of guys knew that Hulk was a wrestling guy. Hulk earned his spot and his money. So many of those guys never did.

I'd have to go with Flair over Hogan because yeah in all areas the complete package the reason Hogan didn't like losing is because he knows he sucks in the ring he's the absolute shits he knows he can't bounce back from losses Flair can that's why Flair all around is greatest Hogan just has his name Flair has his name plus can work in the ring so yeah im on team Flair for that one

@@georgemunro9640 I saw an interview once where Hogan called himself the Babe Ruth of professional wrestling because he's the biggest attraction ever. He also said when it comes to the all-around package of what a professional wrestler should be, Ric Flair is the best of all-time. I think he's absolutely correct on both counts.

Ric Flair will always be the greatest Wrestler. Going to MAW (Mid Atlantic Wrestling), NWA(National Wrestling Alliance), WCW(World Championship Wrestling). I see your point but you have to understand when you're a 5'8 303 pound guy it's very difficult to perform drop kicks, back flips, and high flying moves. Hogan was a power guy, like Big Show, Sid Vicious, etc. He was a pretty good performer in his day for a guy with limitations. He trained under Hiro Matsuda who taught him very old-school moves which he couldn't really use in the states because they weren't very exciting but in Japan he used what he learned and did well as a technical wrestler.

The "Madness" was The Heel Answer to Hulkmania. All of his matches win or loose were Epic vs Hogan Flair Steamboat Warrior Sting etc. Savage made everybody look great in his matches. The Physique, The Image, The Work, The Personality. Randy Savage had no weakness in his game. WWF or WCW Heel or Face, Miss Elizabeth or Scary Sherri Macho Man or Macho King Strap or No Strap Win or Loose He was always the same A SuperNova that just Exploded every time His music came on. Savage is The Real G.O.A.T

You've missed the point entirely with regards to what pro wrestling is about.
Those "stupid taunts" helped tell the story of the match and made Hogan a larger than life figure. Wrestling isn't about doing all sorts of holds and suplexes, it's about connecting with the audience, and getting the audience emotionally invested in the story being told in the ring. Hogan was one of, if not the, best at doing that.

  • @88smjls

Which is why Flair truly is the greatest of all time, even though Hogan was the bigger star, can you imagine Hogan going to the smaller territories and making the local guy look amazing? No chance, his ego wouldn't allow it, which is why I've never liked Hogan but, for all his faults, have always admired/respected Flair.

Hogan drew MORE than any of those 6'5 guys. WCW was in danger of going under before Hogan got in there. He saved the company. As for TNA, who the hell gave a damn about TNA before Hogan got in there? Hogan's arrival was the biggest thing that ever happened 2 TNA. He gave them publicity and recognition from people that didn't even know the company existed. It even caught WWE's attention. Austin never drew a dime w/o WWE. He was a top draw yes but top spot was givin to The Rock and that's a fact.

    • @Ijustinsultedyou
      @Ijustinsultedyou 4 роки тому

Yeah but you have to take into consideration the platform that Austin had to launch from. That was built by Hulk Hogan. If you wanted a Hulk Hogan T-shirt back in the 80s you had to actually go to an event and buy it. You can buy Austin T-shirts anywhere from Kmart to Walmart or on half a million different websites. Hogan didn’t have live TV every week. Monthly pay per views every month. There was no social media or Internet to broadcast him in a bigger light. Austin is nowhere near in the universe Hogan would be in if Hogan had everything back then that Austin had today.

WWF was just another Territory when Hogan came in. The WWF went on to destroy the competition to the point they basically unified to stay alive (WCW).
WCW was an minor league to the WWF when Hogan joined. WCW went on to dethrone and almost destroy WWF.
Austin was the top man in WWF when Hogan took WCW on his shoulders took the crown from WWF.
Even today, ask people to name a the top 5 wrestlers and Hogans name is usually first (certainly around non-internet fans)

Flair has admitted several times himself that Hogan was the best because he drew the most money. Hogan was in the right place at the right time with Mcmahon because everything leading into WM1 took the WWF into the mainstream. Hogan simply became a bigger world wide star and a bigger draw.

What's most fascinating to me about NAITCH is he's universally beloved and respected by the entire rasslin universe, and he did it while almost always playing the heel better than anyone ever has. Hogan was almost always the All-American larger than life baby face, which was exactly how he should've been marketed.

Micheal Landsberg best interview lve seen so far..or would you rather have Bob Costas doing these interviews NOT!!! Mikes questions were fast accurate and to the point and had Flairs attention all the way with both giving quick clear questions and replies. We all know Rick Flair can get into a story and use up a lot of time, but Micheal was like an great quarterback here and used the shows limited time slot very well. Rick Flair has so many memorable stories but you can see them on other segments on you tube so get off of Micheals case here folks. l loved how Micheal stroked Flairs ego at the right times which l think Flair replied graciously, and l guess l say that because Flair made me laugh the hardest of any wrestler and when he was on the mic the crowd went silent so they could take it all in and loved every minute of it. Piper was great but no better then Flair on the mic. What they both lacked in wrestling talent they made up for it on the mic. The earl ier version of Heath Slater aka "The One Man Band Baby" had its funny moments as well with Roddy Piper and Cyndi Lauper segments. Micheal restored a bit of my faith in him with this interview after l saw his terrible interview with CM Punk.

I can't really argue with that. Although an unpopular opinion needs to be thrown in here because I've been talking about this a lot lately, I think Foley's the best promo guy of all time. I've been watching all of his ECW promos here on YT and every single one of them is gold. I think he's WAY underrated so...I just have to give him credit whenever a "best of" conversation comes up. It's all subjective, but I urge people to seriously consider it and look his old stuff up.

I don't really hate Hogan, and I never said Austin was the bigger "Star" Hogan crossed over more, Austin was a wrestler. Hogan is on these covers because he is the more mainstream attractive of the two, Austin is no role mode whereas Hogan encouraged good health and Christianity. But that has nothing to do with the fact Austin had the best buyrates, merchandise sales, and ratings of any wrestler. You know what Hogan never did? Beat Monday Night Football, Austin was the first, then Rock and Foley

@bigrigbob2010 He also said it (Flair best of all-time) on Off the Record.
In-ring ability? Hmm. I dunno (If Ric Flair is the greatest). Hogan got the crowd more involved than Flair, imho. When it comes to a better wrestler, physically speaking... maybe Ric Flair is better because he can do that somersault. When it comes to mic skills/promos, Ric Flair is probably better, but Hogan comes really close to matching him (Especially during his WCW heel run). Heels are always best on the mic.

Go to the store and look at WM 18 &19 both had Hogan & Austin on the card & both have HOGAN on the front cover, not Austin. If he was such a bigger star his face would have been on the cover. Hell,go look at No Way Out 2003,It's Hogan that's right on the top with Austin right below him. WWE Allstars, on the cover the main 2 guys you see is Cena and HOGAN. If Austin was a bigger star we would have seen Cena vs Austin on the cover. You just hate Hogan so much you're completely biased against him.

Yeah, I agree. I was never a big Flair fan but his shoot interviews made me hate his guts as a person. This interview was great, though. Gotta give credit to Landsberg, he's a true fan. He made it a point to interview all these guys for WM18 and did a great job with all of them. My onlly beef with him is how he usualy interupts people constantly. But you're right, Flair actually came off likable here.

There is a Mortal Kombat movie. Actually 2 of them but the 2nd one was awful. lol But it's actually a very popular video game. There are a couple videos with me in costume on my channel.

Which maybe a person interviewing that caliber of ego in the field of athletics needs to establish himself as in control of the interview in some sort of machismo "sword measuring contest," but if I was being interviewed, I wouldn't put up with it and would walk off the interview.

He may have used them in Japan. But the taapes I have seen of him his skill were limited. But I see your point about him being boring doing an arm bar over here. Positioning alone would be comical. Andre was trained by some of the best - But again, could you see him applying a leg lock? Or a Boston Crab? I'd laugh. Rumour is HH may be back for WM - I'm hoping not as an in ring performer (special guest ref, maybe). Thanx for the reply. (Interesting photo BTW.)

Only because he was in the WWE he drew those numbers. Every other promotion he was in he didn't draw a dime. He worked in various territory's, WCW, ECW & Japan & didn't draw crap. Hogan drew money EVERY promotion (before and after his WWE run) he went to and WITHOUT the WWE machine. When Austin was on top he pretty much was the only "superstar" in the company. But when The Rock, HHH, Y2J, Angle, Lesnar etc.starting becoming superstars he lost the top dog spot. Hogan>Austin any day.

every 6'5 300lb guy drew in the 70s that says nothing and Hogan has drawn nothing in TNA, plus WCW had a billion dollar conglomerate behind it so you can't even give him credit for that(and Hogan still didn't draw shit, the nWo made all that money). And you obviously don't know your history because Austin was still the top draw through 2002 in the WWE and the only reason he didn't keep that position through Lesnar, Angle, Jericho's runs is because he was forced to retire from injuries

If we're talking about getting them in the seats, Hogan would be on the list. If you are doing the list (even if it is for pro wresling) on ability in the ring . . . Hogan wouldn't even be on the top 50 list. There are jobbers and mid carders with more ring savve then Hogan. Names like Santana, Steamboat, Lanny Poffo, Race, Rocky Johnson, Buff Buagwell, Sweet Daddy Siki, Snuka . . . They had ring savve. But will never get the name recognition of a Hulk Hogan. IMO, that's sad.
