The Emma Hybrid Cooling Elite is a 14″ hybrid mattress made of poly foam, memory foam, pocketed coils, and a 3.5″ support foam base. Its high profile gives the Emma a luxury look and feel, without the high price tag.
This mattress offers minimal sinkage and very high levels of bounce. If you want an active feeling mattress without too much contour and hug, this could be a good option.
The Cooling Elite comes in a single firmness, 6 out of 10, with a medium-firm feel.
In performance tests, the Emma Hybrid Elite scored a 9.20 overall, ranking it in the top 10% of all mattresses tested to date.
And priced at only $929 for a queen, the Emma Hybrid Elite is 32% less than the average hybrid. It’s a fantastic value, with good performance, and a balanced feel-checks a lot of boxes for many sleepers.

Wow, this channel is amazing! I like the vet objective based observations and scientific testing
Thank you very much! So glad to hear my videos have been helpful. If you have any questions I can help with please don't hesitate to ask.
This is next level review information! Thank you for being so thorough in testing and details. I’ll be sure to recommend others to your channel if they are in the market for a new mattress!
You're too kind. Thanks so much! Really glad to hear my videos are hitting all the right marks.
Thumbnail always cracks me up. Thanks for the thorough work over the years! You are appreciated.
Lol good! I'm glad I can make others laugh. 😊
And thank you so much for your kind words. Glad to hear my videos are helpful.
I am excited for this bed to come in within the next few days. I read all the objective data you had compiled and got this puppy for $755 out the door with free shipping. Figured it was the highest rated hybrid performing well on most test for around $800 so this was a deal I could not pass up. I had watched your 2024 mattress review and for the “value” you suggest the silk and snow and seemingly this outperforms that in totality and for $50 extra bucks I had to pull the trigger.
It was a tough choice between Emma Hybrid Cooling Elite and Silk & Snow for the value pick. At the end of the day, both are extraordinary value mattresses and you could likely be happy with either choices.
I'd love to hear how you like the mattress once it comes in!
How are you liking it? I’ve been doing so much looking into mattresses and am overwhelmed. I sleep mostly on my side and stomach, thinking about going with this or possibly the silk and snow.
Fantastic reviews and many thanks!
Question: You rate the Emma Hybrid Cooling Elite firmness as medium-firm (6), but their site lists it as medium-soft (4). Why the difference?
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful.
My firmness ratings are based on my own firmness scale, from 1-10, where 10 is the most firm. My ratings are all relative to each other (so if I ran two mattresses a 6 firmness you'll know they are about the same firmness). I do not consider any brand's self assessment when it comes to firmness.
More simply put, I think Emma is underestimating how firm their mattress actually is.
@@NapLabReviews Thank you for the super-fast reply and for the clarification! And you would not be the only one to question how they rate their own mattress lol This is very very helpful! Cheers
@@brianp4383 My pleasure! Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
Thanks again and just wanted to let you know that the mattress arrived a few days ago and it is exactly how you reviewed it especially the firmness level. They are wrong… you’re right. But I know you already knew that lol. Cheers!
@@brianp4383 That's wonderful to hear! I'm glad my assessment also matched your experience with that mattress as well.
Thank you so much for sharing.
I've been binge watching all of your reviews! Incredibly helpful! I was blown away mattress shopping today $2k for the Helix Midnight Luxe !! So now looking for a more affordable variety in the $1k range. My question to you is about not being able to try the mattress in person before ordering. I realize the trial period but that's a pain. Do you have any knowledge of buyers that have ordered and returned and how responsive this company is? Any other suggestions to compare to the Helix that is a bit more affordable for a side sleeper, back issues, medium hybrid, reasonably soft & cooling would be lovely lol? So frustrating to try and find a place to try out these alternatives :( Your site is amazing, thank you!
As far as I can tell Emma seems to have a great track record with customer service.
In my view, it's sort of "no news is good news", and Emma is one I cannot recall every receiving negative feedback on (be it customer service, quality, or performance issues). I have a good level of trust with both Emma and Helix. I think you'd be safe going with either option.

Is it good for heavy people, do u know if over time a permanent dip happens
It's fine for sleepers up to 300 pounds, but I wouldn't recommend it for sleepers heavier than that.
All mattresses will form body impressions over time. Your weight, sleeping position, body type, foundation, and mattress all factor into how deep those body impressions can be (and how quickly they can form).
If you're over 300 pounds (or near it) I would suggest going with an HD / Plus-sized mattress that's better tuned to the needs of heavier weighted bodies.

Hi Derek. This looks like a good one for the money. Does it have adequate support across the mattress to help with low back pain?
At this price point, I think the support is pretty solid. You can definitely get mattresses with better support for more money, but at this price point this is basically as good as it gets.
@@NapLabReviews Thank you, Derek!
@@encinosarah My pleasure!
@@NapLabReviews what would your recommendations be for a mattress that is better for lower back pain that wont cost a lot more?
@@xhorizon0819 Reducing lower back pain is all about finding a mattress that meets your body's comfort and support needs. There isn't necessarily a mattress that is "good for lower back pain" for all sleepers.
In general, I do like the Emma Hybrid Cooling Elite as a mattress for lower back pain as it's medium-firm, minimal sinkage, no euro top / no pillow top, and has high performance across the board.
This is definitely among the best options at this price point.
Good video
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful.
Is this any different than the Hybrid Cooling Comfort?
Hybrid Cooling Comfort has a better cooling cover, otherwise, it's the same mattress.
