Although these two racing cars never got the opportunity to race in real life, their legacy has been carried through video games such as Forza Motorsport 4, Grid 2008 and Forza Horizon 4(mainly because in that horizon the f50 gt and ccgt were meta cars for a very long time), great video as always Chris👍
I got to see the F50 GT run in 1998. The Ferrari National Convention was held in my town, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and they had a track day at the local track, Pikes Peak International Raceway. I got to see it and many F40s and 288 GTOs run the track. What a fantastic day that was. I spoke with the owner of the F50 GT, and he said he bought it from the factory for $1 million. He said that as soon as he bought it he was offered $2 million but turned it down.
@@1erickf50 He was American. Funny thing is, in a way I was a bit disappointed to see it. It was the first F50 I had even seen, but I wanted to see a street version.
The F50GT CCGT should’ve happened. I wish we had could have a true revival like the 90s with all the major manufacturers bringing something to the table
Honestly a really good video, good explanation of the topic. It's a real shame those legendary cars could never be raced and show their performance back then
YES! I really like both the Ferrari F50GT & Koenigsegg CCGT and wondered why they never raced! Nice Assetto Corsa gameplay footage from Spa. You absolutely have new subscriber! Thank you for such informative videos and look forward to watching more.
One year the FIA learned that a new Ferrari based almost completely on its production F50 with just adding a roof duck, rear splitter, and different braking. Not counting safety stuff. The race model of the F50 kept getting delayed and wasn’t able to run the year planned. The day after the official end of the season a new rule was added allowing companies to build race cars based on street cars, with only 25 street legal cars for the race model to be legal. Companies then created a street car out of a race car instead of a street car turned into a race car.
Lol you grossly misspelled "is". Its power to weight ratio is still on a level unlike anything else. It's still the fastest non formula and non prototype car ever made.
It’s a shame these track machines never had the chance to complete in a real world race, but they proved their capabilities in Forza games, both of them being the OP online racing car choice even till this date.
this was the biggest injustice in racing ive ever seen. i will never stop being upset about the fia changing the fucking rules randomly after these manufactures already made their cars. also a huge what if.

Now they are worth 30 million lol
So you talked with ArtZ or the other Japanese owner?

The F50 GT1 is the stuff fantasies!!
I would like to see these two battle each other!

How about Lamborghini Diablo gt1. It did race but not in gt1. But at gt500 by japanese team
That car is for another video. I wasn't thinking about it when making this video.
@@christheradar wow! That's great, I'm here to support your work🙏
Id still take the F50GT
the cruelest decisions the FIA ever made

High Five 🖐
This video was just awesome!
My favourite unraced race cars.
i still find it weird that Ferrari decided that the car is not competitive even though the numbers suggest that the car was insanely fast

F50 for the win without a doubt...
Both these cars would've destroyed the competition
We would never know if these cars would've dominated the GT1 series.
@@christheradar anyone with a brain knows why do u think FIA didn't even let them compete. An yea I know why they changed the rules so they couldn't.
You should do the Porsche Carrera GTR
Respectfully there’s NO way the F50 GT was obsolete it’s a 230mph car and easily faster than the ‘97 F1 GTR
The McLaren F1 can accomplish speeds up to 240 mph. It is much faster than the Ferrari F50 GT.
