Thanks so much for checking out the video! It was one of my most anticipated for the year and it has lived up to the hype for me. I'm really enjoying the vibe. I plan to make a playthrough video hopefully this month. And then I'm going to introduce it to my kids. I think they will enjoy it. Thanks for the great game!
My Top Board Games Solo in 2022': 1. Etherfields 2. Pax Pamir 3. Bonfire 4. Mage Knight 5. Diuna: Imperium z dodatkiem 6. Anachrony 7. Scythe 8. This War of Mine 9. 51 Stan - ale wersję solo sobie zmodyfikowałem :D 10. Nemesis
That is a great list of games and a successful year of gaming! I still need to dive into Etherfields more. And as a Feld fan I'm ashamed Bonfire hasn't hit the table yet. Thanks for checking out the list!
This is a great video! Most “single player” game videos stick with games that are specifically for 1 person. I am much more interested in these bigger competitive/co-ops that have great single player A.I.’s. Right now I’m play Great Western Trail (new to me), Now or Never, and Expedition to Newdale (this one is tough!)- all with simple to play but challenging automas. Thanks for all the new game suggestions!
Thanks Stephanie! I'm glad you enjoyed the list! I have many more lists and playthroughs on the channel. Since I play both solo and multiplayer often, I'm drawn to games that do both well. More bang for my buck. Thanks for watching!
I played Carnegie solo after seeing how easy it was after watching your video, and it is stellar. I'm really happy with solo modes for games that are really low maintenance but offer logic choices for the ai. Some of them include Carnegie, Black Angel and Bonfire.
We are definitely on the same page with that! I feel like a lot of games this year had nice streamlined solo modes. I actually haven't tried Bonfire yet, which is weird because I'm such a Feld fan, so I will move that one up the to-do list. Thanks for watching!
@@TotallyTabled I think Bonfire has a neat action selection mechanism. It's not super coherent, it plays like a mini-game within the game, but it's interesting. In true Feld fashion, it has a point-salad-y way to score, multiple mini-games to do that as well. The AI is simple and performs well enough to be a challenge most of the time; sometimes it runs off with the game though. Certain things can make it so the AI grabs a bunch of things at once and progreses really fast on the tasks the game wants players to do, in a way that human players just wouldn't be able to. But it's not thaaat often something like that happens.
Great video Shaggi, your recommendations in the last year have been super helpful, looking forward to all the new content, including Frostpunk; Elements of TWOM and Robinson C? Amazing! Cannot wait! Thanks for all the extra work you do ensuring your videos LOOK good. Really makes all the difference.
Thanks for your review! I’ve not heard of several of these games but it’s always good to get new ideas. Thank you for showing the actual game and components rather than just holding up a game box like so many other reviewers.
My favorite 2022 solo mode that I played this year is going to have to be Keep the Heroes Out, with Oak and Spire' End: Hildegard a close second. Thanks for the list!
Hi Morga! I haven't tabled Spires End yet but I'm excited to try it. Looks like my kind of thing. I love the art so much. And I'm not sure I've heard much about Oak, but it sounds familiar. I'll have to check it out if it has a good solo mode. Thanks for the recommendation!
I totally agree about Ark Nova; for me it absolutely lived up to the hype. I find even on easy level, the solo mode is a good challenge on the numbered maps. Would certainly love to see you do a play through of John Company 2nd Ed sometime! A really interesting an unique game.
Hi Shaggy, just wanted to drop another comment to say how great this video was! I love the video game Frostpunk, so it would be cool to see you make a playthrough on that. Another big request that I have is that you try and get your hands on Nemesis: Lockdown. It’s the sequel to Nemesis, which was in your top 50 video. I love the nemesis series and got my hands on it a while back. It would be great if you could try to get your hands on it, and do a solo playthrough. The solo gameplay is surprisingly good, although the suspense of the typical semi co-op ist naturally where the game performs best. I’ve tried to find playthroughs on YT, but besides NRB’s video (which was great), there was little content on it, and none as clean and well-produced as your videos. Since I know it’s quite expensive, I would offer to ship mine to you, but I’m afraid that you would want to keep it after you played it 😂 (just kidding of course!) Furthermore, I just want to say thanks for the content of the last year, and how glad I am to have found your channel. I hope you had a great christmas and an even better new year. To another year of solo boardgaming!
Thanks so much for the warm greetings! A Frostpunk playthrough has been filmed already and just needs to be edited, but it is a beast, so it will take a bit of time. I'm excited to show it off. I have been thinking about Nemesis: Lockdown, but I wasn't sure if I needed a new one because I love the first one so much. I'll do some research, because I would like to have a Nemesis playthrough on the channel. I appreciate the well-wishes. I was sick most of December but got better just before Christmas, so that was nice. We had fun with the family and I'm excited to get back to making videos. I missed filming playthroughs while I was sick. I hope you had a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Thanks so much for the support!
@@TotallyTabledCan’t wait for the Frostpunk vid 👏 Yes, I can agree that it isn’t necessary for both nemesis games unless you are a big fan of the games. I bought lockdown, since I didn’t have the first one already, so might as well spend a little bit extra for the extra content, but the reviews say they play mostly the same, so make of that what you will. Any Nemesis game playthroughs would be welcome in my books 😃 I’m sorry to hear that you were sick! Glad you got better just in time for the family at least.
Happy New Year to you! I haven't played the video game, but I might try now. I'll have a playthrough of Frostpunk up as soon as I can edit it. It might be my longest recording yet, so it might take a few weeks. Thanks for checking out the list!

Just found your channel and it was an insta subscribe! You have such a good vibe dude! Keep up the great work!! 💕 excited to see what 2023 brings for you!
Hey, found your channel through the TWOM playthroughs. I haven't decided on buying it yet (currently loving the theme and mechanics but apprehensive at the punishing nature of the game), but your videos are definitely helping me. I watched a couple more of your videos, including this one, and I'm really loving what I see. Thank you for the great content. Subscribed!
That's so awesome, Sheldon! Thanks for exploring the channel and thanks for the sub. Your supports helps the channel grow and reach more gamers. I hope you continue to enjoy my videos. This War of Mine is definitely not for everyone. In fact, I need to be in a particular mood to play it. Thanks again and have a great day!
Interesting list, thanks for sharing. I've got an eye of Lands of Galzyr so will be following your channel to see if you do any playthroughs and whether it holds its appeal.
Thanks! Lands of Galzyr should be hitting the channel in a few weeks. Working on it. The game is very much focused on experiencing a story, rather than strategic decision making.
Thanks so much! I appreciate your kind words. Merchants is definitely underrated and somewhat overlooked. Not sure why. Beautiful production and fun, smart gameplay.
Thank you for your instructional videos for board games. Reading and understanding instructions is not a strong point for me. I actually base the games I will purchase on your videos. Keep up the good work!
I'm so happy to hear that you find my videos helpful. Reading rulebooks is a learned skill that really is a barrier to entry for our great hobby. I hope my channel can make a slight positive difference. Thanks so much for your kind words and thanks for watching!
Nice list! I would add Ascension Tactics to my list, but otherwise you have most 2022 games on here I played solo (and a few that's not available yet where I live rip...)
Ohhh, I have Ascension Tactics but I haven't managed to get it tabled. I was waiting to play 2p with my son and never really thought about playing solo. You have opened my eyes! :) Thanks for watching.
Great list! So glad I discovered your channel this last year, I feel like my tastes seem to line up with yours a lot, so it’s nice to find playthroughs and learn all these games I’ve been picking up. I’ve particularly been helped by your videos on Carnegie, Weather Machine and Endless Winter. Keep it up, I’ll definitely be watching each new video.
That is so awesome to hear, Dutchbro! I'm glad you found the channel as well. Are there any games you would most like to see on the channel this year? I have a list of 100 games and it can be hard to prioritize. Woodcraft and Frostpunk are upcoming. Wayfarers just arrived and I'm very excited for it. Anyway, thanks again!
@@TotallyTabled I did pick Wayfarers up also, and I enjoyed my first playthrough of it. I’m not sure if you are prioritizing playing only new games, but I did finally just get my hands on all of the content for Anachrony, and can’t wait to get that to the table asap. Also count me in for sure if you ever do a video about Imperium Classics or Legends (or even perhaps Imperium Horizons if that releases soon like I am hoping).
Anachrony is definitely high on the list. I try to mix new and old games for videos and that is one of my favorites at that weight. I haven't played the others, but I'm curious about them.
My issue with Endless Winter was that, for the play time and teach it just wasn't interesting enough. I'd rather play something else. Solo was a LOT better (no teach!) but there's no challenge to the solo, even in hard mode.
Great video! Here's my take on your list. Woodcraft - Love Suchy but not excited for the theme. Very curios about Lands of Galzyr but why anthropomorphic animals :( ? Resist - I'll get the second printing for sure. Endless Winter - some of the solo feedback (too easy) and generic feedback (you get to do everything) put me off of this one even though it's in my ballpark. Carnegie was instant love. Weather Machine - huge Lacerda fan also but the theme didn't connect with me on this one. Ark Nova - I disagree with something you said here. You said the solo doesn't get in your way. The reason I made my own solo variant is exactly because I think the in-box solo gets in your way with how the breaks work. But the game is in my top 3 ever. Frostpunk - I don't know what to think about this one, the theme is meh for me but I'm curious about it.
Great to hear from you Nir! I understood everything you said until meh on Frostpunk theme. 😲 Frozen post- apocalyptic steampunk survival city building! That's awesome 😎. If Carnegie had some steampunk it might have been #1! 😂 I'm kidding. As for Endless Winter, I remember reading some rules for increasing the difficulty, but I didn't find it too easy. I could see that being a problem. I'm curious what games were your favorites this year. I'd definitely want to check them out. Hope you had a great holidays and Happy New Years!
Haha, was never into any of the XXXpunk themes, but I might make an exception with Frostpunk. 2022 games I enjoyed a lot include Planet Unknown (good at any player count), Vengeance Roll and Fight (surprise of the year), Carnegie, Ark Nova. There are other Euros I need to play but it's been a good year. As far as my most played games this year (mostly on BGA) those were Troyes, Obsession and Tapestry. Happy 2023!
Hello. I got Frostpunk and Ark Nova so I know I am a lucky guy. Recently I think about purchasing Carnegie + expansion, I found a good price for that combo. Do you still rate Carnegie highly to this day? It's still a fantastic solo experience or did you cool off your enthusiasm a little bit? Maybe the game is too repetitive?
Since the review I've played a couple of times solo, and I still really enjoyed it. That doesn't speak to whether it would feel repetitive if played a bunch all at once. It might not be able to stand up to that schedule. I don't know. I don't play games like that. It is in my top 50-75 solo games I would guess. Maybe higher. If you like "dry euros" then I would definitely recommend it. Check out my Carnegie playthrough if you haven't. Thanks for watching!
Great list. I really don’t understand why you would want to play Frost punk solo. It looks like a lot of setup and everything you said about it is depressing. The main problem of 2022 was the long deliveries, most games just haven’t arrived yet. I did get the deluxe of Lands of Galzyr. Good game. 7 - 05:37 the other titles look attractive as well but not buying any games anymore for a long time from now.
Frostpunk is a lot like This War of Mine where the game is clearly a solo design with rules for artificially sharing decision making responsibilities. That can certainly be fun, but you are still playing a solo game. I'd much rather make all the decisions, and solo is the best way to play. The setup isn't as bad as it looks, once you understand how things work and you organize the box properly, which for me meant recycling the insert. Fitting it on a table is probably the hardest part of setup. It is a table hog. Also, I don't find it depressing, not nearly like This War of Mine, since the stories are not quite as personal and your focus is on village management. Thanks for watching!
@@TotallyTabled I play games to feel better. TWOM on switch was not only telling me that I should feel depressed, it was also not a very good game either.
@@kosterix123 The board game is not the same as the video game, and most survival games are like that. It can be a good game and not be a game for you.
@@TotallyTabled Thanks for this list. On paper I should love Endless Winter but it was too much of a mechanism smorgasbord. I did not like Ark Nova sadly, but I'd play it again. Glad to hear Carnegie made this list. I'm going to learn the solo to teach the game to a friend.
Thanks for checking out the video, Marie! I'm working on a Woodcraft solo playthrough, which should be out next week. I am enjoying it. The solo is very smooth and gets out of the way. And the gameplay is fairly simple but thinky. Thanks again!
Regretfully I found Weather Machine too mechanism driven for me; and I have Lesboa and On Mars. It lacked a strong thermatic grounding for me. It is perhaps, a rising conclusion that Lacerda is just getting too complex with the mechanics of his games. But that is me. The art is amazing thoe! For sure!
It's funny because Weather Machine really fit with my brain and I found it easier to learn and play than On Mars. And the solo mode was easier than solo Kanban EV. The theme is certainly not as present, but I'm more forgiving of that. And the theme is fun. I don't know why it works for me but it does. Thanks Steve!
Sorry I missed your comment. Thank you so much. I'm happy you enjoyed the video. One day I hope to visit France. I have a good friend who spent a significant amount of time there after college and I'm very jealous.
You are right, it is in my PLAY NOW stack right next to me. It is punched and I have glanced at the rulebook. Solo mode looks a bit involved at first blush, but we will see. I'm looking forward to tabling it based solely on the track record of the designers. Thanks for checking out the list!
Could you please stop recommendiung Zombie Carnival? My Local store has a copy and every time im there im thinking about picking it up ;_; congrats on your first year. your content is really great. that honest happiness in your voice when you talk about games you like and how you present the games is top notch. keep on gaming!
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. Thank you so much for your kind comments! They really mean a lot to me. I'm glad you enjoy the channel and I really appreciate your long support of the channel. Carnival Zombie is one that I really like, but it is difficult to recommend. I would need a complete psychological profile first. :) So don't buy it unless my playthrough looked fun. Thanks again!
Hmm, I definitely don't agree with that, Ron , but I respect your opinion. This kind of kitchen sink design and lavish production does have downsides, particularly in terms of costs. Luckily it is easy skipped. But I do enjoy this game in the end. Thanks for watching!
Great, high quality channel! Love your attention to solo too 👍 Is Endless Winter solo AI exceedingly easy? I have heard this from several folks Have you checked out Hoplomachus Victorum? I'm pretty stoked about this one coming. Solo from the ground up!
Yeah pretty much. I played it the first time, completely crushed it score wise and then sold the game. 😅 I prefer solo modes that are either more challenging or have a good way to scale difficulty. I've heard they addressed it in a way, but for me personally the game also doesn't bring anything really interesting for me to warrant keeping it. But a lot of people do like it quite a bit so you might want to check it out.
Thanks for the compliment. I do not feel Endless Winter is too easy on hard, but I could imagine that being a problem for some. I think the designer said they would address it with a few rule variants, but I haven't checked. As for Hoplomachus, I've managed to miss all the previous ones in the series. I would like to try one, but the theme doesn't do much for me. Maybe one day. Thanks so much for watching!
Hmmm, I've definitely never crushed on hard, so maybe I'm just bad at the game. 😂 It feels like it would be easy to scale the difficulty, but I can understand where you are coming from.
Is it hard to find? I got a Kickstarter copy but I thought it was going to retail. I assume this will be available soon because it has received very positive reviews. I'm sorry if it is hard to get. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, not sure why I got mine earlier. Hopefully yours will arrive soon. I'll have a playthrough up on the channel as soon as I can. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, I try to stick to the published year, though that is not always cut and dry. I'm thinking of revisiting my top 2021 list, and Sleeping God's would now be very very high. Thanks!
Honoured to see Lands of Galzyr on your list! Hopefully it keeps delighting after repeated plays. 😊

As expected, impeccable taste, Mr Shags
Thanks for your nice words and thanks for watching.
Great list. I really don’t understand why you would want to play Frost punk solo. It looks like a lot of setup and everything you said about it is depressing.
The main problem of 2022 was the long deliveries, most games just haven’t arrived yet.
I did get the deluxe of Lands of Galzyr. Good game. 7 - 05:37
the other titles look attractive as well but not buying any games anymore for a long time from now.
@@nihlify it's not what I want in a game, no.
Just discovered your channel looking for Carnegie solo. Thanks!
I'm glad you found us, BG Fan Girl. Thanks for watching!
@@TotallyTabled Thanks for this list. On paper I should love Endless Winter but it was too much of a mechanism smorgasbord. I did not like Ark Nova sadly, but I'd play it again. Glad to hear Carnegie made this list. I'm going to learn the solo to teach the game to a friend.
merchants of the dark road wowo beautiful , the woodcraft surely future purchase :) thank for video
Thanks for checking out the video, Marie! I'm working on a Woodcraft solo playthrough, which should be out next week. I am enjoying it. The solo is very smooth and gets out of the way. And the gameplay is fairly simple but thinky. Thanks again!
@@TotallyTabled the solo with the game is not good ?? because i see on BGG 1-4 players ? :)
The solo is great. It is a very simple, beat your high score style, which some people don't like but I think it is fun.
@@TotallyTabled ok so you are working on another solo version with not beat high score ?
Great vid, I really enjoyed Final Girl
Thanks for checking out the list. If you haven't, you should check out my playthrough of Final Girl on the channel. I really enjoy it as well.
@@TotallyTabled thanks man i will definitely do that
Regretfully I found Weather Machine too mechanism driven for me; and I have Lesboa and On Mars.
@@TotallyTabled Have you seen his new civ building game, under development? Looks interesting.
Great vidéo as usual!!!!
Regards frome France🇨🇵❤
Sorry I missed your comment. Thank you so much. I'm happy you enjoyed the video. One day I hope to visit France. I have a good friend who spent a significant amount of time there after college and I'm very jealous.
Have you tried Tiletum? I'm guessing you haven't as it probably would have been on the list. :-)
You are right, it is in my PLAY NOW stack right next to me. It is punched and I have glanced at the rulebook. Solo mode looks a bit involved at first blush, but we will see. I'm looking forward to tabling it based solely on the track record of the designers. Thanks for checking out the list!
Could you please stop recommendiung Zombie Carnival? My Local store has a copy and every time im there im thinking about picking it up ;_;
congrats on your first year. your content is really great.
that honest happiness in your voice when you talk about games you like and how you present the games is top notch.
keep on gaming!
Endless winter is the epitome of whats wrong with a lot of kickstarter games.
Love your attention to solo too 👍
Is Endless Winter solo AI exceedingly easy? I have heard this from several folks
Have you checked out Hoplomachus Victorum?
Oh man I hope we can get a playthrough of frostpunk then.
Already filmed, but the editing will take a while. I can only promise sometime this month. Thanks for watching!
@@TotallyTabled Exciting! :) Take your time to make it great by the way.
Killa video as usual Shaggy 👌
Thanks!
Where can I find a copy of Resist!?
Is it hard to find? I got a Kickstarter copy but I thought it was going to retail. I assume this will be available soon because it has received very positive reviews. I'm sorry if it is hard to get. Thanks for watching!
oh wow frostpunk is shipping??? can't wait for it
Yeah, not sure why I got mine earlier. Hopefully yours will arrive soon. I'll have a playthrough up on the channel as soon as I can. Thanks for watching!
@@TotallyTabled ooo can't wait
Really interested in Carnival Zombies, but sadly can’t find it for less than $200. Frostpunk looks very interesting. Merchants looks beautifully done!
Wow, that is expensive. Hopefully it will get cheaper or be more widely available. Thanks for watching!
Shocked Sleeping Gods wasn't on here!
It's a 2021 game. Thanks for watching.
@@TotallyTabled ohhhh, my bad. I thought your list was games played in 2022.
Yeah, I try to stick to the published year, though that is not always cut and dry. I'm thinking of revisiting my top 2021 list, and Sleeping God's would now be very very high. Thanks!
I can't find resist! Anywhere
Really? Hmm, I bet it will get a big distribution soon. It definitely deserves one. Thanks for watching!
Any board game that requires an app, is an immediate hard pass.
TOP 12. 🤫🤫🤫
