I completely agree on the simple design; really nice. Though, I wish there were two features. Tags with autocomplete for using existing tags. Filter by tag. I'd like to be able to change the create date. So if something happens on monday, but I don't write about until tuesday. I'd like to be able to change the create date to monday.
Agreed. At times I also find myself missing tags. And yes, being able to update the create date would also be nice. But I don't see Apple giving that one to us.
Hi Paul, This is actually quite useful. Helps me refine how I use apple notes myself. I do have a question though. How often do you review your notes? Or do you just search them up when you need them?
Super helpful, thanks, showing such a personal list really helps. I've also tried Evernote but it never really stuck. I found myself using Apple Notes more but haven't organized it well and didn't realize its capabilities. So many great ideas here. I'm going to add manuals, Tutorials, Directions, Receipts Reading list, Travel and more! Only one question (if you know) I know you can pin notes, but is there a way to pin folders to the top? Oh and your picture of the office made me think of a (not sure of the name) board you can pin things to (your keyboard is there) what a great idea. Thanks again.
Glad the video was useful! You can't pin folders I'm afraid. And I'm not sure what you mean by pinning to a board. The only thing you can pin is a note.
How are the categories in the left column created? How do you find notes within a category - can you make a title or a subject for each note to search? How? Alphabetic?
You can create your own Notebooks from the File menu. And yes, you can name them whatever you like so you can search for them later. I sort my notebooks by date created but yes you can sort alphabetically if you prefer.
Wow, I didn't even realise until you told me! Honestly I just try and make videos that are short and useful. I also publish new videos frequently which I think helps.
I don't use Apple Reminders all that much. Just for simple stuff like 'Remind me to do X when I get home' whereas notes is more for storing information, not tasks.
Just watched your video. Very informative thank you very much. Did have a couple of detail questions. Looking at your screen that you shared online, the far left column has all your notebooks listed but I don’t see any yellow icons listed. How did you get rid of the yellow icons?
Thank you, Paul. After watching your video, I decided to use the Apple Note. Just like you said, Apple Note is easy to use. By the way if you can speak slower , it will be good for non-native speaker of English ,thanks again for your sharing.
@@minor-co Thanks paul, honestly I liked some of your notes and I'm going to copy of you LOL. Have you ever used Notion App? It's really good and It will take you to the next level trust me.
Good question - Personally, I keep important documents (e.g. my work, client files, invoices etc) in Files which has better document management capabilities. This is where most files live. Then less important files that are related to my notes within the Notes app. But only if they're related to a note.
I use and love the apple notes app, i am a full time reseller so i purchase things to sell online and i use the notes app to both log what I purchased and save the receipts by date and place. It is amazing. However bec i purchase the same item quite frequently i noticed when i use the search bar it will bring up soo many options. Do you know if there is a more specific way to search? And do you trust it for what I’m doing?
I was using what may be a very old version of Notes on an Old Mac pro in which I could right click in a note and had the option to "capture an image" and it would then insert right there in the note. It seem it is no longer available. It saved doing a command shift F3 for a drag screen shot and then having to drag it of the Desktop into the note. Bugger
Is there a way to email a pdf or anything to Apple Notes like you can to Evernote? Also, can you do a search for words or themes like you can to Evernote?
Apple Notes is purely for those beginner in using new iPad Air 4......like me......very interesting apps and easy to use.....i do not need the pay Notes ie Goodnotes etc
I’ve been an Evernote user for some time and have a gazillion of files. This will be a way to cleanup Evernote and jump to Notes. Is there a way to bulk move or transfer files rather then one at a time do u know?
Great video. I’m also moving away from Evernote. But I do like EN’s tagging feature...making it easy for me to access notes with one or more shared tags. Is there a way you can implement that strategy on Notes? I was thinking of just writing in a tag at the beginning of each note (e.g., #productivity), but it seems the search function isn’t specific to the special character. If I search “#productivity”, it pulls up any note with the word “productivity” as opposed to only those with “#productivity”. So how are you translating your use of tags in EN to Notes? Are you just using more specific folders and note titles to allow for better search? Thanks!
Good question. I was worried about losing tags as well but after a while I actually found that I don't need them as the search is fine. I thought about your solution as well but as you point it, it doesn't really work. For me, the search has been adequate.
If I understand your question, once you have converted your Power Point to PDF, you should be able to just upload it to a note. Then when you click on it to open the PDF, there should be an option to annotate the file.
I use a Mac and Android (Note 9 right now). Not iphone. Anyway to use the Notes app with both? I really want to stay with Android for a phone. The other thing I like about Evernote is being able to save webpages easily. I use it a LOT. Any way to do that with Apple Notes or a work around?
I'm afraid you won't be able to use Apple Notes on Android as it is an iOS app only. Yes, if you use Safari, you can easily share a page link to a note on your Mac.
Is there a way to save a video link in notes and it show a thumbnail? There must be a way as a link did it for me once and I could never recreate it. Even copy and pasting the same UA-cam link.
Normally if you paste a link Apple Notes should show a thumbnail of the page. However, if the page is not set up with features images, this may not work.
I use evernote to only store various important web pages and tag so I can search later Can I do that in apple notes and if I don’t have evernote premium can I still do the same
Well, Apple Notes doesn't have a native tagging feature. But technically you could create your own tag like #important and then simply search for the hashtag later. As for Evernote premium, I'm not sure to be honest. I haven't used it in a while.
Yes, I get 200GB as part of the Apple One family subscription. Have also had to pay for an additional 200GB on top of this for all the storage my wife and I need for all photos and documents.
