Thank you for having this upload. That’s my great aunt and uncle and it’s great to see them as I was pretty young when ola belle died and uncle bud died when I was a teen . This is fantastic to see how they were . Thank you so much for this!!!
She and Bud were my granny and pop pop's neighbor and best friends. Levi and Vivienne on Harrington Rd. I grew up with them playing in my front yard. I love them and you forever and always.❤️ I miss them intensely. God bless you.💕
Well, today we buried the last of Ola Belle's siblings - Darthula Reynolds. There were 13 of them. My father was one. When Ola Belle had her debilitating aneurysm, Darthula took Ola Belle in and cared for her for 15 years until her passing. That generation is now gone. They were a colorful bunch of characters and will be sorely missed.
My condolences, deeply and sincerely. Is this the same Daniel Campbell and wife that ran into a Nashville songwriter at Buck's after Ola Belle's funeral and then gave said songwriter a white rose from the casket and a ride home? It's me! Sherri. Still in TN. Love you guys and it's sad to see the last of that family to go. What a great crew!! We are so blessed to have had them.💕
@@nikkiwilder660 Yes it is Sherri. Wow! That was 20 years ago. It was a very special moment, us meeting up with you. Thank you for triggering that memory. Makes me smile. 🙂
What i wouldnt give to sit on a front porch with alot of folks like her that are gone now. Im grateful to have knowm the ones i did, and im also grateful to be able to hear Ola Belle years after shes left us. They dont make em like that anymore.
This is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen on UA-cam. Man, what a fascinating. window into mountain culture. As beautiful as the music is, I love even more to listen to Ola Belle talk. This is such a blessing
When I hear these stories and songs and think about the community life that they grew out of and then of think of how today's pop culture is reduced to twits and tweets and such, I feel sorry for what has fallen away under the guise of progress. Thank you whitetop music for posting this.
What a treasure to find on the Ol' UA-cam! I absolutely love Ola Belle and think that her "High on a Mountain" may be one of the best mountain folk songs ever written. What a gem of a "Rubin's Train" on this recording. Sweet stuff!!!
Thanks for posting this! I grew up in Chester County, PA, listening to Alex and Ola Belle on WCOJ - "the voice of Chester County". As I grew up I was privileged to get to them and spent time at Campbell's Corner in Oxford, PA. For those who don't know, they broadcast from the rear of the store, and also from the local country music park.
We’re from Marion Virginia down in those hills love hearing this music we brought our heritage with us to Northern Virginia parents looking for jobs many years ago there’s a lot of us up here but we never forget we’re we come from
What a treasure. Thanks for posting.

Bud Reed was my dad's brother, and Olla Belle was a treasured Aunt. Her music will stay with me forever.
I think Ola is one of greats
Really cool to hear a bit of a backstory on these songs and this version of “Train 45” is quite the treat
