Just a tip. VFD’s do awful with grinding dust and sparks. They also need airflow on the top and bottom. Didn’t even want to mention it but hate for your VFD to burn up on you. Keep the videos coming. I haven’t missed one yet
I need to figure out an enclosure for the vfd. Originally, I was thinking that having up above the grinder would keep it far away enough from the dust, but I don't think it will after seeing how much dust comes off of it. If I had it hooked up to dust collection, it would probably be ok
I need to find a big grinder like this for my shop. The problem you were having with using the torch with the rod is you had no flux on it. It was oxidizing and was never going to bond chemically to the surface of the cast.. You have to use flux or some kind of shielding gas. TIG worked because (I assume) you were using Argon as a shielding gas.
That makes sense, I need to watch some more videos on how to braze properly. You're correct. I was using argon for a shielding gas when tig brazing the second time.
