Idk I could see the third game being called “Legacy of the Forest” and being a prequel where you play as either a surviving scientist or an exiled cannibal
Snow is wonderful. I was born in an extremely snowy region of the States (Michigan) and enjoy the colder days far more than the hot sunny ones. When the warm weather rolls around, it feels like quarter of the year is wasted since you can't do anything outside since it is so hot. So much easier to live in snow than heat. Since I grew up here and moved to the tropics later in life (not by choice, I want to move away), I still fondly remember snow and think of it as homey and comfortable.

Yes when you hit the tower you will fall off the zipline, this should have been obvious and the game is not inconsistent with this. But you still only need a 1x1 platform; you just need to angle the platform and connect the zipline inside the tower instead of outside(since you want to reach the inside of the tower and not fall off outside).
Easier way for zipline towers is treehouse platforms. There's a flat one with 4 sides to it. It's perfect. You attach the ziplines to the tree, so the tree trunk stops you from falling off.

@@thepieisalieofficial I've been doing that. Elevation is a huge problem, because the game only allows you to build up to a certain height on a tree. Also, you will always be going through the thick of it, and at the end of the rope line, you've got to pick a tree with the smallest amount of branches, otherwise the inside of every platform is gonna be ugly. You'll need a lot of patience and willpower! I'm gonna try something like Farket now, along the rivers.
@@Loshmitebraaa when that happens plant a stick with another stick on top of it (like the start of an effigy), 3 rocks at base, it gives you a high enough spot to connect the zipline.

The devs should look at the things that made The Forest special and apply them to Sons of The Forest :)
My trick for zip line travel platforms:
Using the aspect of approaching a given platform deck while on a zip line, I build a wall on the far side of the approach. Eight logs high. I attach the zip line to the center of the top log. The idea is to intentionally collide with the wall, then harmlessly drop to the deck, so you want to pass over the landing deck with it underneath you before you collide with the wall (hence the wall is on the far side of the deck). Think of it as an intentional collision to stop you at a desired location, in a predictable, consistent manner. It works every time.
The only concern is angle of approach. If the angle is too steep (up/down), then you can collide with the deck instead of the wall. This becomes a bigger issue when working mountainous terrain. For that same reason, avoid roofs or overhead structure. You want nothing but one wall per zip line and nothing else to interfere.
I typically build these platform decks three standard squares wide. The center square gets the stairs to the ground. The two exterior squares are the landing/departure zones each with a single collision wall. The walls are on opposite sides of each other (for example if a collision wall is on the north side of deck one, then the collision wall for deck two will be on the south side). There is considerable leeway for angular approaches (side to side rather than up/down) but you can ricochet with unpredictable effect if the angle is too drastic. Regardless, as you collide and drop, you walk to the next line on the other side (two decks over) and continue on. I typically place torches on each side of the collision walls for night travel.
Hey man, I watched your vids for quite some time, the building concept is different but you have the skill and talent to still give us that spark, ingenuity, love you once did too. When you have a zipline tower that causes you to fly off with the mommentum you can place a stick fence to block you in so you wont fall off.
On the topic of winter and snow: I'm a Canadian and I would rather be too cold than too hot. I'm a fan of winter, but despite the beauty of it, I'm not a big fan of snow. Skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and snowmobiling are fun, but not fun enough (IMO) to offset the effort of shovelling the stuff off of your sidewalk and driveway everyday. Snow would be perfect if it never accumulated on roads or sidewalks.
I like snow in real life, but it's poo poo in SOTF lol. Visually, it's amazing, but mechanically, it's the bane of my existence in this game 😂.

I don't even mess with making a, highway anymore. I just use the glider. It doesn't take much to get off the ground and get some elevation.

there should be a little blocker at the end of the zipline, just like a small little block on the very end of it, this could even be a craftable or printable item if necessary

2:54 you were saying how a helicopter would work better in a zombie game well in project zomboid there is a helicopter event that draws zombies towards you.
I haven't played in a while. I need those ziplines they look really useful.
Leaf armor is underrated! Wear full leaf armor and most enemies have a noticeably harder time finding you. I was being tracked by a hunting party and they were literally just casually walking behind me until I stopped turned and axed one in the face. Leaf armor doesn't hide you from the green smudge, cheetah, and blue glowey creeps nor the thigh clappers or anus titan. I haven't tested this on armsy or OG virginias yet.

Farket I've said it before a few times I'm not sure if you've seen it. Where zip lines fling you after you exit them is based off of camera position. If camera position is the same the fling will be the same as well.

12:12 - Easy. Remove the players ability to choose where to anchor the zipline, and make it a set point on the center of the beam that allows for safe passage every time.
i really would like those armoured cannibals to drop a skin pouch when they die, even on normal theyre a pain in the backside sometimes, so them having a guaranteed drop of a skin pouch would at least make it a bit more worthwhile to actually kill them

I'm pretty sure the zipline inconsistency has something to do with the fact that you don't always ride it at the same position.
e.g. if you press E above the zip line it might put you like 30cm higher than you are supposed to be. I'm assuming it also does that with sides, but less extreme.
Seems like they could easily add a breaking system to the zip lines. But I'm no expert
Project Zomboid actually has the helicopter mechanic mentioned
Set Kelvin to "maintain base" and he will stay put, reset traps, fill holders and add spikes to walls.
You should think about creating a discord for players to find other people to play with or anybody who needs help doing something
with ziplines, if you jump or move away as ur getting on them, the zipline tool wont connect to the wire and be slightly off centered leading to you falling off, its happened to me a lot, might be happening to you
you can see this sometimes when you look up at the zipline when on them

Is ANYTHING happening with this game anymore btw? Any content-updates? Was that it? Did they move on? Have they gone totally radio-silent? After years of cooperation and communication with a caring, supportive, patient community that supported them and wished them nothing but success? No, The Stuff Takes Like 5 hits to break and i think the durability of it resets between loads. I constantly have too much of the stuff
